The movie sucked and it created bad word of mouth so it's box office dropped.
Do you really believe that the movie sucked or was it just really really disappointing?

Funny thing is I'm not saying that most people liked SR, I've already stated that. I believe that about 70 percent of the people who saw the film had a favorable opinion of the movie but that doesn't mean that they didn't find it disappointing. Full disclosure; My older brother enjoyed the film and so did my oldest nephew but they just said that they love Superman so I don't know what that means. But the point is they liked at and I'll say good for them but my younger sister and I found it too be a dull mediocre rehash and my 12 year old neice found it too just be okay. What I'm saying is the haters can't accept that the movie isn't hated and is far from being another Hulk and the lovers can't except that they movie wasn't as well reviewed by critics or fans as the Spider-Man movies and I'd say Batman Begins on the fans side.

Is that all you talk about? Spider-man this, and Spider-man that? Because the REAL S:TM, still owns any, and all comic book flicks to this day. That includes your precious Spider-Man flicks.

Opinions are a wonderful thing, aren't they? :woot:

I believe it had a bunch of plot holes. It only got a few laughs for a supposed funier film. I know that when I walked out side there was a crowd (large group of frends) of people that came out of the showing who were asking each other "what was Luthor's plot again. How was he going to benefit?' And debating why supes could stand on New K and loose his powers but be able to still lift the whole thing while it was growing out around him. I know I heard the same thing at the IMAX showing I saw it at about 3 weeks later. My mom and uncle were scratching their heads on a lot of it and asking me to explain why he could stand on it and lose his powers but lift the whole thing up. I told him they f'ed up on the whole thing and they went "Oh. So they just weren't thinking? That is what I thought it was." I know I tried to watch it on DVD 2X and couldnt. Then I forced myself to watch it and I posted things I noticed I hated as I was watching it in one of the threads here on Saturday.

I would agree with that except some people do find it as bad as the hulk was.

people dont care that it wasnt as good as spiderman....lol im pretty sure the majority didnt find that a fault.

you guys are just spidey is no longer king of the world, but has to share it with batman and superman.

As much as I hate to say it, I doubt that. Spidey is did record breaking numbers. Batman Begins, which I love, didn't do as well as I would have hoped, but I understand why. People got oversaturated with bad Batman films in the 90's and they think this is a sequel. I think The Dark Knight will do a lot better now that people know that isn't the case. But SR was trounced by Spiderman. How long did Spiderman 1 or 2 take to get to 200 mill as opposed to SR? On and I am a Supes fan first and foremost. I watch Spiderman movies every once in a while, but I have wore out 4 Superman the Movie VHS tapes. Thank god it came out on laser disc and DVD.

I think this kind of attitude is just silly. I, obviously, am a huge Spider-Man fan. But at the same time I love comics in general...and comic movies. I understand that every good movie that comes out only strengthens the genre and raises the bar for the next movie. I want EVERY comic movie to be better than those before it. That doesn't mean that the previous movies now suck.

This whole "My Hero is better than your Hero" BS is just stupid.

That is why both Raimi and Singer ripped from STM, the difference is that Singer did it intentionally as a tribute, not sure what Raimi's excuse was.

Well said and I agree with you.

Superman Returns was definately hit or miss. My mother and father loved it. My sister and her boyfriend loved it. My girlfriend thought it was ok, better than Begins not as good as Spiderman. My girlfriends mother loved but her father said he couldn't believe they didn't have a supervillian, and didn't like it. My grandparents loved it. It's very iffy, all different viewpoints all across the board. It's one of those movies that I am finding alot of people say, "I liked it but...

*yawn* This again? Since S:TM was, for all intents and purposes, the first major Comic movie everyone apparently "ripps" from it. :whatever: You can find comic elements mirrored in so many different comic movies. Their of the same genre...especially when you are talking origins. There ARE going to be similarities.

STM was no doubt the standard that all comic book movies were held up against and the template for all comic book movies after that. Including the Spiderman franchise and Batman Begins, not to mention Returns. Looking back at it now and watching it, it's decent, but it's not the be all and end all.

It was a joke towards Spidey, but you bit on it with your serious pants on. If you read my post just above this, I obviously know it was a template. :whatever:

I believe he says it on the DVD. That he did it as a tribute to the STM/Reeve shirt rip. They said they wanted their films to stand up to STM and he and the producers watched it before starting anything on Spiderman.
