Brutal huh.

In another universe, during the 2010s, we already got solo Dcu films for Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and Aquaman and a Justice League movie and they were all critically acclaimed and successful at the boX office.

The actual films we got are legacy of Zack Snyder and the creatives behind these DC films. Sadly, I think we are in another bad wave of films, in a few years under the misdirection/supervision of James Gunn. I have ZERO confidence with that guy.

Until the day I die, I will stand by my opinion that they should have made stand alone trilogies for the other DC characters like they did with The Dark Knight, and not chase the shared universe MCU strategy. They had their own very successful formula.

The fact Gunn and co are still chasing the MCU shared universe strategy baffles me.

Did they? One auteur director making a successful trilogy is not a formula. They tried that with Man of Steel and immediately stumbled.

If this is what Gunn and the new leadership thinks is one of the best films in the DCEU, the DCU is in trouble.

The problem with Man Of Steel was no oversight on Snyder. You just can't do that with a director with a divisive track record. Also, many directors turned Man Of Steel down, so there was clearly a problem with the concept as it stood. They should have rethought, instead of just plumping for the one guy who said he'd do it.

I maintain that a strategy of stand alone trilogies starring DC's core characters, with an eye on quality, would have been WB's best bet.

Funny to see the Snyder-bros celebrating on Twitter. Don't they get it?

If this movie flops, hell would have to freeze over before WB or any studio/streamer would touch the DC Snyder-verse again. They can tweet Netflix all they want... It is over.

Gunn needs to REBOOT this thing FULLY.

100%.

The audience has been telling WB very clearly for years how they feel about the DCEU - really ever since it started... with only two exceptions.

True... frankly, I think somebody needs to sit Gunn/Safran down and tell them they have a tough decision to make. This wishy washy ''rebirth'' will not cut it.

Everyone involved with this iteration of the franchise needs to go and that includes the likes of Robbie, Davis and Gadot. Gunn can possibly do a standalone season 2 of Peacemaker as part of the else worlds, but that should be it.

Rip the plaster off completely and start fresh.

Gunn has got two years before Superman Legacy comes out. I expect a full reboot from the Justice League/movie side.

He has time... it'll be the best thing for the characters moving forward.
In defense of WB I think the controversy with Ezra and Heard has put the death knell in the DCEU. I see why Reeves and Philips want to stay clear. I think they need to cut Aquaman. Blue Beetle is cheap and it will attract Spanish fans so let’s go from there.

How can they just cut Aquaman? The last movie made over a billion dollars worldwide.

Mainly, because Transformers had been tracking to open at $48 mil on the high end. So, it hitting $60 was a surprise success. Also, given the state of the franchise, it is considered a decent result.

I mean wouldn't this be a decent result for The Flash considering Shazam 2?

They are not going to cut it because of the billion dollars but I have not heard one good thing about the movie and supposedly they did multiple reshoots. Wan is a good director so maybe he can save it but Mamoa has been bad lately. Fast X was awful and his cameo for the Flash was horrible.

Wasn't it supposedly the case that Wan stormed off the set and never finished directing the movie? And that Momoa finished it instead?

What audiences want, and what is a great film are two different things.

Remember, Cinemascore is based on expectations. Eternal of the Spotless Mind got a B-. Pearl Harbor got an A-.

Hell, "controversial" - online at least - The Last Jedi got an A.

B probably doesn't bode well for box office legs. But we'll see. I'm sure Ezra Miller has turned off a lot of people.

I kinda eXpect Aquaman 2 to deliver the same number as Fast X in America. It should.however at least outgross Black Adam, so around $180 million.

Blue Beetle on the other land, looks like a flop in the making, like making around $50 million in America. There's just not much goodwill from Dc movies to be launching someone like Blue Beetle.

Women seem to like Jason Momoa, so that should do Aquaman 2 the world of good. WB just couldn't get that broad female audience interested for The Flash.

Looks like its the likes of Peacemaker, Waller and possibly Blue Beetle who will make the cut. It would be a bad idea to keep and of the major DCEU characters. If it’s Momoa playing Lobo instead that also is different and won’t be the same as if he was still Aquaman in the DCU.

Trying to find a win from anything lol. This is bad news for the DCEU, no question.

But why? Peacemaker is connected to the DCEU. Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller also both appeared in Peacemaker. Viola Davis' Waller has been in the DCEU since Suicide Squad.

Yikes!

I never thought this would hit a billion or anything, but I genuinely thought it would be a little more crowd pleasing than this.

Why what? Why keep them? I’m not saying they should, just what the plan looks like it could be from things posted from Gunn on the Hype. The characters are low profile and I’d bet people I know have no clue who they are. Even I haven’t seen Peacemaker yet and I spend my life on a superhero board lol.

What were the original worldwide projections beforehand? Wasn’t it like $700mish? Never thought I’d hear “$350m is dead!”
