The Flash The Flash General Discussion and Speculation Thread - Part 3

I think any comparisons to Smallville are pretty insulting towards the Flash. When was the last time you people tried to watch Smallville? Because the teen drama in that show is about ten times worse than the most melodramatic episodes of Arrow/Flash. The CW's demographics have changed significantly since the WB started running Smallville, and it shows. To say nothing of the god awful costume design, the reluctance towards the source material, the acting, the dialogue, or the dated visual effects. Flash is a better show by far, by any measure.

Wait what? The two below are really being compared!??

Show A: The comic names of its heroes and villains have been used and is quite happy to put its main, super-powered character in his comic book costume (sort of) halfway through its first season.

Show B: It took ten ****ing years to even HINT at its main character getting into costume while we suffered through years of lame names and black trench coats.

Fazekas: Marc, CBS is doing Supergirl. What is the possibility of a crossover?

Guggenheim: It's possible.

THR: I actually heard it's in Greg's deal, that Supergirl can cross over with Flash and/or Arrow.

Butters: How many members of the Justice League would you like to get all together?

Guggenheim: On Arrow or in general?

Butters: On Arrow.

Guggenheim: At the end of the day it'd be so awesome to have Batman on the show. That'd be really cool. I don't think that will be happening anytime soon, but you never know…one day. One thing we're always saying…we never expected to have had the Huntress [Jessica De Gouw], Deathstroke [Manu Bennett] or Deadshot [Michael Rowe]; we ended up with a lot more DC Comics characters becoming part of the show than we had ever planned. It wasn't initially part of the pitch or the conception of the show. Now here we are in our third season and we've Flash [Grant Gustin] and the Suicide Squad and we're going to have Katana and we have Ray Palmer [Brandon Routh], and it seems like you could field an entire show off the characters that we have introduced on Arrow. That's so beyond anything we expected. That's a long-winded way of saying I've learned not to expect anything or make any predictions because the reality has far exceeded any of our initial predictions or initial conceptions.

When The Flash returns later this month, we'll see the "Revenge of the Rogues" as Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold teams up with his former Prison Break co-star Dominic Purcell (who plays Heat Wave). The former however wars that the two villains "aren't friends, but they do have a kind of intimacy." What could THAT mean? Cisco meanwhile will find himself getting involved with the frosty bad guy at some point too, as TV Line reports (as part of their "Winter TV Spoilers" feature) that Cold's sister Lisa Snart will be using her wiles on the young scientist for seemingly nefarious purposes. Danielle Panabaker meanwhile teases dark things to come for Caitlin Snow as the site teases that the future Killer Frost may soon head down a "questionable" path. "There are some moments – maybe she goes back to a bar? maybe she makes some bad decisions? – that are really fun." Finally, the site adds that we will soon see "accidental" time travel. Thoughts?

So I finally watched this show and Constantine. I love the Flash. It reminds me a lot of the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. This show gets better by the episode. I kind of wish this was canon to the DCCU as long as Arrow isn't but that couldn't happen.

Constantine is ok. I will say the Feast of Friends Constantine episode is the best episode out of both shows.

Not sure how pointing out how many other shows do the same tired thing is a good defense of this show doing it too.

It's always an outdated idea. Why would I want the Flash show to copy that? We call that "formulaic".

Again...I'm watching. I would just like the show to last. Claims that it's working aren't going to make the ratings better if the audience sees it as formulaic.

Who says the audience thinks it's formulaic? It's only just about to kick off mid season 1 again. So, it hasn't even gone an entire season.

I was pointing out shows copying other shows sarcastically. Doctor Who has been around far longer than the X-Files, but my point was fairly clear. I was reaching to find a similarity for two very different shows that are similar genre. Kind of what you're doing.

I'm waiting for the claims that the Flash is too similar to Prison Break. What, with all the ex-Prison Break stars showing up and all.

If Captain Cold winds up in prison and Heat Wave ends up being his brother, we quit this show!

Lol. Orlando Jones just asked DC Twitter if he can play Black Lightning.

I can actually see that happening in this show.

I really wish they'd stop giving BS vague answers about crossing over Supergirl or Batman, they know it's not gonna happen but give those answers to appease the fanboys.

They did the same thing with Smallville, we're lucky to get the crossover with Arrow that we did.

They've never once given a vague answer about Batman appearing on the show. That s***s just not going to happen. As for Supergirl, it's not even a show yet. Be patient. :o

Possibly. The new backstory would fit her, I guess.

Also, this is happening.

HighFivingMF, that's a greta comment haha, and yes, Eddie will be pissed about the kiss. I think he may end up working with Wells/Reverse Flash at the end of the season.

In am loving the idea of Pied Piper naming himself. The Rogues fully accepting the code name schtick is an awesome way to seperate them from the rank and file meta humans. The others were struck by lightning. The Rogues want to be.

Congrats to The Flash for winning the 2015 People's Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama!

They did the same thing with Smallville, we're lucky to get the crossover with Arrow that we did.

Given that Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl all share the same co-creator (Greg Berlanti) and will be airing on sister networks (The CW for Arrow and Flash and CBS for Supergirl), how is it a "BS answer" to say that crossovers between the 3 series are possible?

The Batman answer does seem like more of a 'fanboy non-answer', but there's definitely more to the potential of Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl existing in the same universe than you seem to be willing to acknowledge.

I think the only reason we don't have a definitive answer on if Supergirl will crossover is they don't know if the show will fit with Flash/Arrow and vice versa yet. All signs point to them legally being able to crossover.

Based on what we've seen of Barry's powers so far, do you guys think he'd be capable of defeating someone like Slade Wilson (with the mirakuru serum still in him) and without usage to the Mirakuru cure?

It would be a close one but I think Barry can defeat Slade.
