I really did like this episode. The chemistry between Barry & Kara was spot on. They both have beautiful voices. The only complaint I have, is there was a lack of Darren Criss. The CW made it seem like he was in the episode more. That's the only area I was disappointed.

the musical part was "musical" - but the part in the "real world" where Barry sung to Iris was outrageous and insulting to regular viewers.
The fact that his voice was autotuned made it even more ridiculous

I wasn't really feeling this episode as a whole. Maybe if I had never seen the original Music Meister, I would have liked it more. I would hope that this episode ended both of the CW drama of the couples on their respective shows, but I'm sure it'll be back somehow.

Yeah fit me in the boat that believes that Barry shouldn't have been written where he had to sing to Iris in order to propose to her again. All of the singing should have strictly been kept in the singing world.

I was expecting to not like it, but it was better than I thought and I'm sure the cast had a lot of fun.

Still hope it was just a one off and doesn't really happen again.

I've never seen Supergirl so this was my first exposure to Kara. She was cute, sometimes bordering on being too cute but overall I liked her.

Martian Manhunter was awesome. Does he appear often on Supergirl's show?

Or at the least there shouldn't've been music.

Yes, he is a regular on that show. Though due to obvious budget restrictions we don't get to see him in his true Martian form every ep (but still fairly often). I'll be honest, I gave up on Supergirl early on in S1, but hearing about their inclusion of Martian Manhunter (his true identity wasn't revealed until well into S1) was what single-handedly brought me back. So far as a MM fan I'm mostly happy with their portrayal of him (they definitely nerf his power-set, but I'm fine with that when it's clearly for budget reasons; less fine when it's for plot convenience reasons, but that's a whole other can of worms), and it's certainly a huge step-up over Smallville's version at least. Thankfully Supergirl as a show in general has improved a lot since then, and I enjoy it quite a bit now, though it's still not without its issues of course. Though I still think Flash is a better show on the whole, Kara has actually replaced Barry as my favorite DCTV lead, so at least there's that.

As I pointed out last page about the relationship drama, the worst part is it seems the only reason we had relationship drama the past few episodes was as a set up for this(which makes it even more annoying because the relationship drama stuff really was dragging down Flash, while in Supergirl it at least made sense up until this episode)

While I agree it's annoying that the relationship drama at the end of the previous episode seems to have been done entirely for the musical episode, as well as Supergirls relationship drama last ep. I overall enjoyed this, apart from Grants solo in the last scene, if they were gonna do that, they should've done it on set, with no fixing done to his voice, the way they did it may sound better, but it looked awful, there were a few issues like that for Grant this episode unfortunately, he's a good enough singer that it isn't necessary. Melissa and everyone else were great though, was fun to see Martian Manhunter team up with Kid Flash and Vibe, and I loved the setting of the musical portion, you can definitely tell the cast and crew had fun with this.

If their is one thing that bothers me on super hero related shows is what I refer to is unneeded relationship drama. As a fan of Smallville I was beaten to death with the non stop relationship stuff and while Flash or Supergirl are nowhere near that, the whole breaking up just so we can set up an stupid episode like this just grates on my nerves to no end.

As I said I was no fan of the relationship drama from the past few episode but I at least hoped it was to set up something bigger then a musical episode

As said before, I did enjoy it. I was expecting more, but then again I still remember watching the Buffy music episode, and I think that spoils every single music episode from every single show ever!
The only 2 ways I could have liked it more was if all dialogue was done in song and Music Meister was a little more nefarious.
Overall I'm just jazzed that we got to see Kara and Barry on the same screen again!
If they are both being filmed in Vancouver, can't they just waltz over to the other's universe for a scene or two every week or so..?:SG:

I was a bit disappointed by this episode. For what was billed as a musical episode, it was very light on music. I was expecting many more numbers, and maybe more of a show stopper at the end with both Kara and Barry. I think that should have been the finale rather than the low key ending they gave us with Barry singing.

There was way too much talking and doing other things. They hyped this up so much, but in the end Kara and Barry barely sang. And some of the songs were a bit too sedate. This sometimes felt more like just a regular crossover than a proper musical episode.

This should really have been a double episode. And it was billed as such but it wasn't really so it all felt rather rushed.

I would've preferred the dialogue done in song instead so that there would be more singing all round.

I felt it was unnecessary. Moonriver was fine, but that's about it.

How did Wells know you Supergirl was? Did they meet before?

I felt one of the main problems of the episode is that Kara and Barry always seemed reluctant to sing, and only sung when absolutely necessary. But it was a musical episode. The Music Meister should've made it that they behaved like people in a musical and burst spontaneously into song, so that some of the dialogue in between could've been told in singing. If you're going to do a musical episode, you can't do it half-heartedly but need to go all in.

It's as if the writers/ director of the episode read some of the comments of people online who were hesitant about the episode and tried not to make it too much of a musical. But then the whole thing comes off as rather lukewarm. They should've just embraced it for what it was, otherwise why bother to do it in the first place? The whole idea of even doing it was to showcase their musical talents. I don't feel that Barry or Kara really got to wow us with their voices like you might get on Glee.

I think the Buffy musical episode was better.

The musical talent on the CW shows is amazing.

Not going to lie, Kara's rendition of Moon River through me off, just because I am sooo used to the Bayonetta 2 version.

Yeah, I wasn't feeling Music Meister not even really being so (like if Barry and Kara were into some sort of non-musical type of film, that's what their dream would have been). He was just some guy who somehow knows everything about everybody, maybe the most powerful being they've faced, and just wants the couples to be back together after teaching them a "lesson".

I've taken a couple of days to reflect on this episode because something felt very off. While I did enjoy it the first time around, the way a couple of scenes felt just didn't seem right. Both the way a lot of the shots were framed, it didn't feel like an episode of the Flash, and I personally don't think it should've been.

I think this could've been a lot better if it was it's own separate thing that they maybe could've released over the summer in between seasons, such as a little short film. Obviously some plot changes would've been necessary (though then they could've avoided all the forced drama in the first place), but I think being separate from both shows would've given it more room to make it fun as opposed to having to be confined. Also could've upped the run-time thereby letting Music Meister have more screen time, and you could have more songs.

I don't know, I think this would've benefited more as a special than a simple crossover episode.

Yeah, I think it would've been better as a special. Then it wouldn't have to feel obligated to cover all the other plot points of the Flash which I thought took up up valuable time. There wouldn't be any need for Barry to propose to Iris at the end either. The whole thing could've then been dedicated to being a proper musical with a show stopping ending.

I think they should consider doing it that way next time. Also, more people could then join in like Chyler Leigh, Chris Wood and anyone else with singing experience.

While it was cool to see Vibe, Kid Flash and Martian Manhunter teaming up to take out Music Meister, I felt that this also wasted time and shouldn't have been in it.

I agree it wasn't fun enough but felt rather downbeat at times.

If they made it a CW DC musical special, then many more people could join in. Amy Pemberton (Gideon in Legends of Tomorrow) has a fantastic singing voice and would've also added to it. She's been in stage musicals herself.

I thought the music was fine, by and large.

What wasn't fine was that the plot can be boiled down to "Wandering god insists the heroes get back together with their love interests, because luv."

Or to be more precise, "Kara, you should totally forgive Mon-El for lying to you about being a slave-owning prince of a slave-owning society."

Barry and Kara together was good.

    Cisco/Winn together killed it.

    The dancing was cheesy.

    Westallen drama was yawn-inducing.

I think it was an OK episode. Nothing will surpass Buffy though.

Why was the Buffy musical episode better? What did they do to make just a single episode be better? What could this have learned from it?

It was wittier/funnier for one, but more importantly, had bigger storytelling ambitions than "let's get the couples back together!" (when it was clear that the only reason the couples were apart in the first place was so that this episode could put them back together, making the whole enterprise feel extra-contrived). By contrast, Buffy's musical featured major character revelations (thanks to the musical device of the episode "forcing" the characters to sing their inner-most feelings) that would have serious repercussions for all involved. Despite the hilarity and fun, that episode turned out to be kind of devastating and essential. This one was fun - I enjoyed it, and I'm glad they did it - but it was hardly essential.

It was a lot of fun seeing a lot of Arrowverse cast members who have a background in singing and musical theater having a chance to get together and show off their talent in something this fun. They must have had a blast filming this episode. I thought the song "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" was really catchy.
