The Flash The Flash to Appear on Supergirl

It's so insane to realize that we have a full DC Universe on TV across multiple networks.

Arrow
The Flash
Legends of Tomorrow
Constantine
Supergirl

And with Supergirl by this extension, Superman exists too.

I mean, excluding 4 or 5 big characters, the entire DC roster is pretty much covered here. Crazy.

Imagine if Gotham got added to the mix.

They are doing alright if we look at lead heroes and teams (generally ones that can hold a book for at least 5 years).

Superman- Supergirl
Batman- not seen
Wonder Woman- not seen
Flash- Flash
Green Lantern- hinted at in Flash, we just don't see it.
Martian Manhunter- Supergirl
Aquaman- Kind of hinted at on Earth 2 with the references to Atlantis
Hawkman and Hawkgirl- Legends of Tomorrow
Supergirl- Supergirl
Batgirl- Not Seen
Green Arrow- Arrow
Nightwing/Robin- Not Seen
Black Canary- Arrow
Legion- exists in the multiverse
Teen Titans- not seen
Justice Society- Jay could start this in Flash

Wonder who would win if they do a 1v1 showdown. I mean Supergirl can never catch him and The Flash can't fly so he can never catch her. One can shoot lasers from her eyes, one can throw a damn lightning. Would be awesome for some reason they fought in the crossover.

Don't forget Vixen and 90s Flash, both of which are on CW Seed (Vixen is renewed for a second season; 90s Flash obviously is just the old show).

But yeah, we have a large roster (only includes characters that have already been named or shown, no spoilers that haven't aired):
The Flash (Barry Allen)
The Flash (Jay Garrick)
The Flash (90s Barry Allen)
Green Arrow (Oliver Queen)
Black Canary (Dinah Laurel Lance)
White Canary (Sarah Lance)
Harbinger (Lyla Diggle)
Katana (Tatsu Yamashiro)
Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onnz)
Supergirl (Kara Danvers/Zor-El)
Spartan (John Diggle)
Wildcat (Ted Grant)
Firestorm (Jefferson Jackson/Ronnie Raymond+Martin Stein)
Rip Hunter
Arsenal (Roy Harper)
Vixen (Mari McCabe)
Speedy (Thea Queen)
Hawkman (Carter Hall)
Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders)
The Atom (Ray Palmer)
Vibe (Cisco Ramon)
Jonah Hex
Legion of the Superheroes
Green Arrow (Connor Hawke)
The Spectre (Jim Corrigan)
Dr Light (Linda Park)
Kid Flash (Wally West... presumably)
Jesse Quick (Jesse Wells... presumably)
Mr Terrific (Curtis Holt)
The Huntress (Helena Bertinelli)
Bronze Tiger (Ben Turner)
Manhunter (Mark Shaw)
John Contsantine
Overwatch (Felicity Smoak)
Nyssa al Ghul
And tons of others have been hinted at.

Superman won't crossover. Smallville is dead and buried. Tom is done with it. Supergirl doesn't show his face. I doubt it'll happen.

Never watched Supergirl, but got this one recording on the DVR. Looking forward to twice the Flash next week.

so what time period is this following? its weird that the crossover has happened yet nothing like this has happened in the flash yet?

Embarrassing episode. I cringed so many times. Fast-forwarded on multiple occasions.

This was a great episode. Barry and Kara had absolutely fantastic chemistry together, and it was fun seeing him interact with her friends in National City as well. It was very refreshing to see Flash and Supergirl get along so well together.

One of my favorite scenes in the episode was the scene in which Barry cheers up Kara by reassuring her that her good deeds will eventually win back the trust of the people of her city (after they had come to distrust her because Kara had been temporarily driven crazy by red kryptonite). It was great to see Barry impart some genuinely heartfelt advice to Kara based on his own experiences as a superhero. Barry, as we all know, has often needed advice and morale-boosting from trusted figures like Henry, Joe, Oliver, Diggle, etc. to help him get through hard times. So it was great to see that Barry was able to do the same thing for someone else.

Overall, the crossover was a ton of fun to watch, and easily something to put you in a good mood. :)

Should I watch this before, or after tonight's episode?

I enjoyed last night's Supergirl with The Flash. Despite the fact that it's not the same universe. It was cool to see him appear...but this wasn't because Warner Bros...and CBS didn't want that...kind of like with Spider-Man/Sony and Marvel? So Spider-Man can appear in the Avengers movies but can other Avengers appear in his own Sony-produced Spider-Man films?

Did anyone feel like the Flash super-speed effects looked a little different? If so, I think it looked better.

It's hard for me to describe why I enjoyed this Flash on Supergirl so much more. I guess it was the fact that he was more solo this time, and didn't have Caitlin or Cisco to back him up. It was just more enjoyable. Most of the time on the tv show, I feel like we were watching a younger version of the Flash who is still developing to become The Flash in the future. Almost the same with Arrow. But this Flash, without Cisco or Caitlin to help him on Supergirl, felt like we were watching the real Flash, more mature and grown-up. I just enjoyed it more.

I say this mostly because I don't care for the characters Caitlin or Cisco on The Flash. Caitlin I can live with, but Cisco is silly and has pointless one-liners, comes up with goofy villain names, etc. Cheesy. Because he's a geek, he's supposed to say "I make the toys, man"? No. Forced drama. I just don't care for the character.

I think if The Flash was on CBS, perhaps they may have gone a different direction.

[BLACKOUT]CW's Barry, why are you so stupid? Quit revealing your name and face to everyone on the alternate Earth.[/BLACKOUT]

Doesn't matter.

[BLACKOUT]Precisely. Alternate Earth. Revealing his name does no harm to him. Even if a villain were to find out. Once he's back on his earth, what would they do with that knowledge?[/BLACKOUT]

I'm guessing that's the running gag on this show. Along with the monster of the week easily breaking into Star Labs.

[BLACKOUT] Its not like he has an *identity* on Earth-S. Anybody looks up Barry Allen, and they'll find a big fat nothing. I suppose, if he faked a local identity, they could trace him back to his hanging-out with Kara and friends. . . but really, that's pretty meaningless. The CATco gang is already under threat for the obvious connections to Supergirl.

As a Flash viewer who doesn't watch Supergirl I have to say go watch that one episode, it's definitely worth it.

Taking it as a 'Flash' episode it's an 8 or a 9 out of 10 and one of the better episodes this season. A few corny bits in it and a slightly different tone but Gustin has amazing chemistry with the supergirl actress who is awesome.

Really enjoyed it. Enjoyed it more than Batman v Superman to be honest :)

I wouldn't begrudge viewers on a DCTV show so everyone go right ahead, but I'll say this- as a Supergirl episode, it was one of it's weaker offerings.

I would definitely say it was below average for both Supergirl and Flash.

Supergirl didn't really hit its stride until about 5 or 6 episodes in as far as I'm concerned. So I'd say it was better than the early episodes, but the crossover certaintly ranks as one of the weaker episodes in recent memory.

The crossover was a fun episode but it was pretty much a filler episod, the only lasting effect it had for the Supergirl show was Barry gave the police a place to lock up metas so they don't all have to go to the DEO.

The best thing about it is it gives a chance for these and other characters to crossover again.

Well, that was a fun episode. Hope she guests on his show soon.

[blackout]Don't show Cat, but show everyone else.
At least he didn't show his face to people who do not know who Kara is.
But that was still dumb.[/blackout]

I wish the race had lasted longer, I know it wasn't technically a race but I think that would have probably made me enjoy the ending more.

I felt the same way and here's why I think that's true for me:

The Flash on the CW is an idiot. The one that appeared on Supergirl was only sort of an idiot. He was the level of idiot that you would *expect* Barry Allen to be by this point in his development, but for some bizarre reason, CW's Barry Allen doesn't seem to ever develop emotionally.

The Flash Team: Hey Barry, don't do these really stupid things because bad things will happen if you do!

Barry: Cool, bros! No stupid things.

Barry proceeds to do stupid things. Mayhem ensues.

It's a weak plot device. The writers could do better. Barry should be learning from his past mistakes. He should be taking advice a little more to heart. In short, he should be growing. Instead, he's still this immature little twit.

I think what we saw on Supergirl is the Barry Allen that we should have on the CW. One that is a little more mature and focused. One that is a little more "together".
