The Good Citizens of Metropolis: The Casting Thread

While Andre is amazing, I feel like Perry is too similar to Captain Holt, no-nonsense boss with a heart of gold.

I'd like to see him give a little bit more warmth than in Brooklyn 99. Although I totally understand what you're saying.

Depending on how well he’d do an American accent…

Sope Dirisu - John Henry Irons

He used to be my top pick but then I remembered Brendan Fraser who feels somewhat perfect for a new iteration. Imo

Checked some previous pages but may have missed the discussion —but is there any reason Kyle Chandler isn’t the default consensus pick for Pa Kent? Too obvious?

its funny cause I sometimes get him mixed up with, Ron Livingston, so when I saw the pic I was like.... wasn't he just a different superhero Dad???

and speaking of look-a-likes ... he gets mixed up for James Wolk a lot too I'd imagine

who could make an decent {younger-ish} Jor-El

unless they want an much older Jor-El
(or/an use it as their big name cameo of a classic known actor type)

I feel like they always go older with Jor-El but Kal-El was just a baby at the time, so realistic Jor-El could have been around the same age as adult Clark

I was just thinking of James Wolk for Jor-El. He's a good actor who never could catch a break.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, 53, for Jor-El:

I think Holt McCallany would be a good Bibbo Bibbowski. Him or Don Harvey. Someone who seems rough and shady-looking on the surface, but soon reveals themselves to be a bit of a teddy bear and with a heart of gold. Or, if you would rather him be a more campy, overtly comedic Bibbo, Patrick Warburton would be ideal imo. A Superman wannabe/fan who's always schmoozing up to the Man of Steel after there's been an incident, hoping to be friends or at least project the image to the media that they're friends.

I only know Wolk from Watchmen but he could be a pretty good pick for Bruce Wayne / Batman in Brave and the Bold…

38, 6’2. If Gunn/Safran aren't going for a big name, he could fit the bill:

Controversial opinion, what if we don’t even need a Jor-El? Like, everyone knows the origin now. What would having Jor-el add?

unless they do brainiac of course

He might be a teensy bit too old for the part now, but I think Elliott Gould would be fantastic in a one-and-done appearance as the Toyman. The character itself doesn't have much of a shelf-life as a recurring adversary for Superman nowadays anyway.

Also, James Spader for Mister Mxyztplk.

Lol yeah. Love Nathan Lane, but he's not the Jonathan Kent type.

It'd be cooler to see him as G. Gordon Godrey, or Granny Goodness tbh.

It'd be cool if they cast plain-looking actors as Ma and Pa Kent.
In all seriousness though yeah I do actually want to see plain actors for the parents who look like they’ve been working with their hands their whole life

I'm still pulling for Brendan Fraser and Connie Britton. Both age appropriate and can play the warm hard working farmers they are.

tru, the origin has been done, over and over... but Jor-El also plays a role as the holographic interface of the Fortress

It'd be cool to combine the Eradicator character and Jor-El. Have it so that the Eradicator is imbued with a technology that allows it to store Jor-El's consciousness in its memory and recreate his facial appearance. So Superman could interact with 'Jor-El', not just as a holographic interface, but as an actual character in his own right who can mind the Fortress while Superman's away, and also provide him with info relating to Krypton or threats of non-Earth origin that might come up. Kind of an Alfred to Superman's Batman.
