The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Gwen Thread

He spent five months mourning Gwen and had stopped being Spider Man during that time. At the end, he finds the strength to be Spider Man again, but I doubt he is ready to start dating again. I think there needs to be at least a year time jump between ASM 2 and ASM 3.

Which is why using Black Cat makes so much sense.

Yes, MJ can be included as an acquaintance/possible friend, but nothing more yet. Just too soon for the audience, if not for Peter. But Black Cat, flirty and wild, going after Spiderman, not Peter, is a great "rebound girl", allowing some very fun moments, in spite of Peter not responding to Felicia's advances.

Oh, and did the Moderators really have to change the name of this thread from "The Night Gwen Stacy Died"?????

Though you have to question are they planning on going beyond movie 3 for this, or will it be another reboot? I don't want MJ to just become a "what if?"

^ We know they have 4 movies planned. My hope is that they are going to keep going and continually expand this Spiderman universe. The great thing about Spiderman is that he has so many amazing villains and support characters that the stories can keep going for a very, very long time (meaning, Marvel will never get the rights back).

Think about movies based on stories around the following villains:

- Sinister Six
- Venom
- Maximum Carnage
- Shriek
- Kraven's Last Hunt
- Morbius
- Hogoblin
- Scorpion
- Kingpin
- Silvermane
- Tombstone
- Sandman
- Silver Sable
- Shocker
- Jackal
- Cameleon
- Black Cat

And even though some stories would incorporate multiple villains and stories, such as Kraven and Cameleon or Kingpin and Tombstone or Carnage and Shriek, there is still so much that can be done and it could keep on going for a very long time. Yes, the actor will eventually need to be rebooted, but not the universe!

We have 4 TASM movies confirmed, as well as a Venom movie and a Sinister Six movie, so a reboot isn't happening anytime soon.

Spider-Man 4 was confirmed at one point, so that doesn't mean much. But I don't think we'll ever get another reboot under Sony.

If you guys ever go to watch the film a second or third time, you'll notice in the very beginning of the movie, there are clock gears and the time on Richard Parker's watch is the exact same time that the clock tower shows when Gwen's fate is sealed. I thought this was perfect.

I agree that Black Cat serves as the perfect "rebound" for Peter. I hope they go that route.

I can understand people wanting them to do the Peter (Spidey)/Felicia (Black Cat) relationship, but based on the way they introduced Felicia in TASM2, there really isn't any logical reason for the two to cross paths unless they go the same route as the Batman/Catwoman relationship.

^ Why couldn't she simply be the Black Cat who moonlights as a burglar?

In fact, maybe the reason why she became Norman's Assistant was to get on the inside, which would give her access to a lot of information that she could sell.

Also, Spidey's going to need help defeating the Six, and isn't Black Cat just the perfect character for that?

Honestly I would have Harry give Felicia a performance enhancer and then task her with winning Spider-Man's trust. What Harry wouldn't count on would be Felicia growing to admire and have feelings for Spider-Man.(She wouldn't know it's Peter, as that's something Harry would keep close to his chest.)

I could see Harry using Fiers to assign Felicia to keep tabs on Peter, but I doubt he'd be receptive to any romantic advances she might make due to the way he lost Gwen.

What if Emma Stone was in Amazing Spider-man 3 in a similar way as Jean Grey in The Wolverine? And at the end of the movie he realises he needs to move on from her and the last shot is the MJ 'Jackpot' scene.

Except he might fool himself the way he did in the comic because Felicia can protect herself unlike Gwen. I think Peter can have a fling. He doesn't have to have any deep feelings for Felicia.

Exactly how I felt! Watching that scene I morphed into Peter in a way, as he tried I felt myself trying with him if that makes any sense (it does in my head :csad: )

Ditto. I noticed other gasping and turning in there seats as the scene unfolded. I'm still touched a week later.

She has to, I miss her already. My heart has never beaten so fast in a movie than during that scene, I kept hoping it wouldn't happen somehow, kind of felt like Peter yeah.

They slow mo was perfect! Didn't realize until Peter jumped down to get her body how far a fall it was!

Having just walked out of the theater, it's ridiculous to make the argument that Webb and Co. didn't set Gwen's death on the GWB because they wanted to be different than what the Raimi films did. They set the death where they did - inside a clock tower - because it tied in with the film's theme of time and what we do with the time we have.

I can also unequivocally say that the cause of death was exactly the same as in the comic, only depicted more potently because it happened in virtual silence as far as the film's soundtrack is concerned.

It was WAY too real! So sad the way they built up their relationship then snatch it away. But it had to happen!
