The Horror Thread - Part 3

hmm. i don't even remember that happening. i thought that her story was kind of over after she offed her boyfriend. i will have to rewatch it. the sheriff's department was kind of inept.

Sgt Nash was inept, the rest of the department did what John Saxon told them to.

I kinda like how they left the ending open ended. I just thought it was strange that they rushed Claire's father to the hospital after he fainted, but after all that Jess had gone through, they just left her in her own bed. Besides, the whole house is a crime scene. That means no one enters until after the CSI guys are done.

House at the End of the Street is supposed to be a horror though it felt more like a thriller or mystery to me. The only horror here is how twisted the killer turned out to be and what made them into who they were.

I'm not sure if anyone hasn't seen it yet but on the off chance there are unspoiled posters the [blackout]Sleepaway Camp[/blackout] reveal will be a bit of a surprise. Maybe. I guessed most of what was going on before that but the twist at the very end makes the killer seem more understandable, if still completely crazy.

yeah, can't believe that they are remaking it.

maybe they were deciding how to handle all of this. in some movies, i could see Claire's father never making it to the hospital. they already have a real mess on their hands. there's still a couple bodies in the attic. the press on this might be enough to convince all of those rich parents from sending their kids to the school. or it was just a plot hole. i think they should have just left the house empty; except for the killer in the attic. that would have been pretty open ended.

So, wait, is this playing on an actual urban legend about the franchise, or is all that back story invented for the trailer?

No its just a gag, the guy who made it directed V/H/S, he just wanted to have a little fun.

Don't see what's so cool about it.

The whole things obviously intended as a joke. Its done cheap, poorly acted and has a quite convincing yet obviously fake back story intentionally to give it that feel of something that could have been discarded and never released.

on the subject of killer Santa movie recommendations...i started but never finished (had to go to work) a decent Dutch movie titled 'Saint Nick.' if you can handle dubbed voices, i'd say it's worth a rent.

It's on my list of things to watch one day. My friend likes the film. Wonder if he owns it?

I know, that was a shocking reveal in the original movie. I don't think I was even 10 when I saw it so that made it all the more bizarre and somewhat confusing.

To remake it doesn't make a lot of sense because we all know how it ends if they attempt to keep anything of the original ending.

For those who might be interested, a little while ago Synapse films announced that they have the rights to Argento's Suspiria and it will finally be getting a good Blu-ray transfer. I'm excited!

I'm almost at the end of my Friday the 13th marathon and it's been rather depressing.

After the first four movies, this series went WAY off track and I can enjoy the rest for what they're worth but I won't be rushing back to watch them anytime soon.

I'm sorry you feel that way Starlord I happen to feel somewhat different, I love parts 3 and 4, don't really hate 5 but love 6 and 7 I really like Jason more realistic and the supernatural Kane Hodder Jason just as much.

I like Jason takes Manhattan for it's 80's cheese factor and JGTH for it's originality, I can however agree that Jason X is ridiculous even though the kills are good.

In retrospect, Jason X is a great horror comedy.

That's okay. I respect that and I can see why you would like it. I have to say though, Richard Brooker was my favourite Jason. I thought he was awesome in Part III.

There are some parts of JGTH that I did enjoy, but felt that it didn't really outway the problems that the movie had overall.

I still have the remake to watch...

Not to interrupt the Jason talk, but does anyone know what the next step is for Halloween...or if there is a next step? Last I heard is that Zombie is out of the mix (thank Buddha for that).

I was just posting in the "Last Movie..." thread how if you ignore it as a Friday the 13th movie it's not a bad movie.

It depends on what you read. I've seen there will be a third movie in that canon but not by Zombie, that there will be a second remake, ignoring the previous Zombie series and that nothing is planned right now.

So...Saw 8 is going into development. I really thought we were done with this crap.

I actually quite like the first Saw though.

Saw is one of those series I just can't get into. I have no interest in it. So I don't know what is so fascinating about it they're doing an eighth entry. Are they trying to tie with Friday the 13th?

The only thing worth an eight is making up for the disappointing ending to VII, and even then I barely cared for any after part 3.

The first Saw was amazing, one of my many favorite horror films...2 was a big let down, but I did enjoy III more than 2. The rest is pretty much just fanfiction...

I actually already have a fantastic HD blu-ray tranfer of Suspiria, it will be hard to top it looks beautiful.

As for Saw I absolutely loved the first film when it came out for its originality, after that the sequels were quite dull but I still enjoyed parts of them.

Suspiria was on my backup list for this year's 31 Days horror movie marathon, but I never got a chance to watch it. I'll make sure to open up next year with that movie.

Kane that's unfortunate imo it's one of the best horror films ever made, it's a must watch Halloween season or not.

What country did you import it from? From what I've read, most of the Blu-ray releases for the movie were subpar.

Suspiria is awesome.

I heard they were going to remake it a while ago but I have not heard anything since.

I got a copy of the UK blu-ray if you read some reviews they're pretty good, usually 4 out of 5 stars and I just watched it the other day for a film from the 70's imo the transfer is fantastic, not perfect but damn close.

On the subject of remaking the film, it really is a perfect example of a "product of its time" I have no interest in ever seeing a remake made.

Nope, Platinum Dunes were in talks at one time but the talks mounted to nothing.

Well the Zombie rumours are be because of a guy I know on halloweenmovies.com. He went to a meet and greet with Tyler Mane I forgot to mention that he posted the picture showing that you could win a part in Zombies H3.

I also asked him if he asked Mane about it and this was the response he said Mane gave.

Yeah, he looked SUPER concerned and set someone from his camp to take them down. Told you all I wasnt crazy!

Here's the page where we talked about it:

I think at this point its safe to say we are all safe from seeing Zombie touch anything Halloween related ever again thank you movie gods, I feel like this comes up everyday on here and everyday someone has to debunk it again.
