Speaking of ANOES, I'd actually really like to see a movie centered around Freddy's time as a serial killer before he was killed. It has the potential to be REALLY disturbing. I actually heard a rumor that they were planning such a film a few years back. But obviously, the remake (bleh) happened instead.

We had been discussing this for a while (check the last couple of pages of this thread). I agree that a movie about Freddy as The Springwood Slasher would be very creepy, if done right.

I met Robert Englund at Vancouver Fan Expo in 2014 and he told me that there were plans to make a prequel, but it fell through for some reason.

I think, if a prequel does happen, Robert Englund should direct and Roberto Lombardi should play Freddy. (Check the You Tube links to the Blinky Productions' Fan Films I've posted to see his portrayal of Freddy).

I'm not sure if anyone has seen this film/reviewed it yet but...I'm about to watch "The Redwood Massacre". I saw it at the video rental store, yes I still prefer going to rent movies haha, and the cover caught my attention. I read the summary on the back and it seemed like an interesting story.

UPDATE: I wanted to turn it off after the first four minutes. I decided what the hell, I'll give it a chance. Turned it off at the half hour point...I think I deserve a medal.

Avoid this film.

Anyone see The Green Inferno? It was pretty bad IMO. I know the characters and story in a film like that are never top of the line, so at least the gore better bring it. I've seen nastier **** in The Walking Dead and Hannibal. It was a letdown.

Yess I have seen this film. I watched this flick yesterday. it was so so not very good.

UPDATE: Shedding a bit more light on what this project will be about, ShockTillYouDrop has published an article saying that this movie will actually continue the continuity from John Carpenter's original franchise. The cop mentioned in the report below will actually be Deputy Gary Hunt from 1981's Halloween II, and will be the sheriff when we catch up with him in the new film.

Some horror movies I've watched recently:

The Devil's Rejects - I kinda hated it, it was too dumb

Eden's Lake - It was great although the ending is a little disappointing

We Are Still Here - The first half is great but the rest is just weird and loses all the tension.

Maniac(2012 remake) - It was pretty dumb

Martyrs - AMAZING! It wasn't scary but it was very disturbing and sad

So will this movie officially be Halloween 7 minus all the Thorne stuff or alternate alternate part 3 & pretend that 4-6 never existed?

It sounds like it might be ignoring everything except for the first two. I'm of two minds about it potentially ignoring H20 as well. On the one hand that'd be kind of disappointing given that I liked H20 (and it would have been a perfectly acceptable ending to the series as a whole). On the other hand, Resurrection already crapped all over it's ending and at least we wouldn't have to acknowledge the idiotic retcon of how Michael survived, Laurie's lame death, and Michael being defeated by freaking Busta Rhymes electrocuting his balls and then making an astoundingly lame one-liner.

I think I'm going to start off with one of Universal's classic monster movies. A friend of mine recently gave me his VHS copies of the entire Universal Monster Movie Collection, and I still have a VCR to watch them on.

I think I'm going to start with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre tonight. I've never seen the original. I might also check out Black Christmas. I haven't seen that one either. I keep hearing great things.

Side note: Anyone into pumpkin carving? I haven't carved pumpkins since I was like 10 years old but this year, this year I'm really wanting to. I think I'm going to attempt a Crow inspired one. I found some pretty great stencils.

If you wanna hear a different opinion on the film, I loved it. I didn't think it was dumb or cringe worthy. And I didn't think it had an annoying style. I thought it had a really cool style and was a great remake.

Nice yeah I'm not sure what I will start with. Maybe I will just pop in Halloween. I usually save it til Halloween itself. But I can always watch it multiple times during this month.

You haven't seen the original TCM or Black Christmas? You're in for a treat with both. Both classics.

The originals of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Black Christmas are both awesome, so you're in for a treat. Just for the love of God, don't watch the remake of Black Christmas. That version sucks! The remake of TCM is okay. One of the better horror remakes out there. Just not as good as the original IMO.

As for your question about pumpkin carving, I usually choose to carve a pumpkin or two at Halloween, even though I live in an apartment building and thus don't get trick or treaters. I just love to get into the spirit of the season.

Have no idea, it does sound like it though. Maybe they want to distance themselves form Zombie's massacre of the franchise.

I thought the first person shooting style was fairly well employed and even quite inventive in the scenes where it began to slip into his hallucinations. In general I thought it was a great expansion upon the first film which while filmed in a more traditional way featured a running audio track of the killers thoughts.

For me personally, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the scariest film I've ever seen. I've seen better made movies. I've seen gorier movies. But that is the movie that consistently gets under my skin. There's an attempt made in the last third to shift some aspects towards comedy (which Hooper made much more overt in the bonkers TCM2) but it still doesn't negate what comes before and what comes after.

The first part of the film up to the first appearance of Leatherface could really just work on its own as a short film.

When Leatherface suddenly appears, drags the young man into the starwell and then slams the metal panel down it freaks me the hell out no matter how many times I see it. In that scene he works almost like a trapdoor spider. He can grab you, drag you down, and you are just gone. Dead to the world. That freaks me out.
