The Hunger Games - Part 2

I don't like all the Armie Hammer suggestions. I really don't think he's that standout of an actor. And I think he looks too old for the specific role of Finnick. I think someone like Jeremy Sumpter or maybe even Dave Franco could pull off Finnick. I say Jeremy Sumpter because he isn't typical looking at all. And he looks around the same age of the other cast members do I think the chemistry would be there.

As far as Coin goes, there is only one choice I ever had in mind. HELEN MIRREN.

Finnick is suppose to be about 8 years older than katniss/peeta

I was thinking earlier today Sebastian Stan would make a good Finnick.
For Coin my first choice would be Sigourney Weaver but my second choice is Allison Janney.

These are some of the better fan casting choices I've seen in most of SHH! It seems like the Hunger Games is easier to cast than superhero franchises.

On a sidenote .... does anybody else think that Mockingjay is well suited for being split into two films? They even have something of a cliffhanger during the midpoint climax of the book.

one thing i must say katniss/peeta have some very unfortunate shipping names

either:

Peeniss
KatPiss

As for Finnick and Johanna. I'm just gonna trust Gary Ross and his team. They are my two favorite characters in the books behind Peeta and Cinna and I'm a okay with the casting jobs they did for those two.

But yeah Finnick and Johanna have to look believable older than Peeta and Katniss. So a lot of the casting choices seem to skew too young.

^which is why i like hammer for it he is 25 but could pass as 28 while jen and josh are like 21 but easily pass as teenagers and is big enough to carry peeta on his shoulders lol

I really, really hope it isn't broken in to two movies, but it probably will be so they can make that much more money. I just think that this becoming the trend for the final books in a series is pretty dumb. I love the Hunger Games books, but Mockingjay doesn't have all of the details and loose ends to tie up that Deathly Hallows, a near 800 page book, had. One movie would be fine. If you can fit Return of the King in to one three and a half hour movie, you can fit Mockingjay into one two and a half hour movie. My two cents.

Hammer just doesnt strike me as Finnick if he was younger I would cast him as peeta before I ever thought to cast him as Finnick, he has such a nice guy look to him which is great but just not how I see Finnick, I wouldnt complain if he were cast though.

And I agree with Donnie Darko I feel it would just be a really cheap move to split the last book into two movies a book many feel was rushed, uneventful for about a half the book, and just lacking overall, I'm reading it now and I have to agree little bit.

Going in knowing absolutely nothing, I gotta say I thought it was pretty good.

A little long, the shaky cam style irritated the hell out of me during the fight scenes but the overall flow of the story was really enjoyable.

From the selection to the training to the celebrity status to finally the games, it flowed very well.

Now the debate of picking up the 2nd book OR simply waiting and being surprised when the 2nd film comes out next year...

Peeta + Katniss =

Peeniss

OK, I really, really enjoyed this movie. Was almost completely faithful to the book, and some of the changes, I thought, ADDED to the story (like the expanded role of the gamemaker). Also, Elizabeth Banks and Stanely Tucci stole every scene they were in. Very entertaining.

Okay and keeping in mind I haven't read a thing in this thread OR a synopsis regarding the sequel, would I be close in assuming that

The sequel revolves around a pissed off President forcing Katniss to compete in the 75th Annual Hunger Games?

…don't need the details, just a simple yes or no will suffice. :cwink:

Yes.

YES. Which is why I loved that last scene in the movie with President Snow :)

Outstanding. Figured it's the most logical way to go...

it's more like a sort of.

You can honestly cast who you want with this so long as they're playing against type. I did not recognize Elizabeth Banks for the longest time until someone told me that was her under all that.

I'm surprised no one else has suggested this, but when I first read Coin's description, my mind automatically went to Helen Mirren.

This

Suprisingly good Sci-fi action flick, reminds me of Battle Royale and The Running Man, the novels are surprisingly good too.

From once upon a time? I don't think that would work I could see his once upon a time co star Jamie Doran being a great Finnick or maybe even Justin Heartly.

Yes, the guy from Once Upon a Time. And why not? He's the same age as that Taylor Kitsch people are suggesting, but this guy can act, and is hot as hell.

.

I wouldn't mind him either. This guy has so much promise, I'm hoping he'll become a force the reckon with in the future.

finnick needs to be a big guy remember he does carry peeta on his shoulders

Both those guys from Once Upon a Time are very nice to look at. That's all I've got on that matter since I haven't read the books and don't know anything about Finnick, lol.

Oh, and Sebastian Stan's a really good actor, for what its worth. Still couldn't say if he fits the role, though.

Have you seen Peeta? I'm pretty sure I could carry him. In my pocket. :oldrazz:
