Superman vs. Lex Luthor could work, if Lex was the corporate tycoon that we've come to know over the last 20+ years, & not the buffoonish caricature of super-villainy that was resurrected in Singer's film.
As bad as it is that they're doing the retcon/reboot tango on Spidey-which I consider to be unnecessary, premature & just plain WRONG, what's worse is the flood of posts & signatures I expect to see from fans who are happy about it. Some never liked Raimi's take from the get-go. Others were perfectly happy until the 3rd. Whatever their reasons, I think this is a bad idea and will ultimately hurt the genre more than help it. Plus, no matter what, EVERYBODY'S not gonna get what they want. Some aspect of the story will be raised above another, & the fans who care more about that element will be disappointed. Liberties will be taken-many purely for the sake of distancing the movies from Raimi's trilogy-and will probably make an overall product that's even further removed from the comics than an armored Green Goblin or organic webbing. Casting choices will be made that will be hotly debated for years to come. I shudder to think what the new costume will look like. I expect mechanical web-shooters, which I'm fine with as long as they're UNDERNEATH the gloves. And then there's talk of them going darker, which I think is an EXTREMELY bad move.
I just have a bad feeling about the reboot.
