The "I hated Spider-Man 3" Thread!

hehehe

yeah.
SUPERMAN RETURNS is really down there with Schumacher's Batman movies & the live-action Spawn movie

itz one superhero movie that is SO bad, you just cant resist every opportunity to badmouth it

That's correct. And I don't get paid by Warner Bros. to defend it. Do ya?

Why is it that everyone can say SM3 sucked, is a piece of crap but damn one can't say Superman Returns sucked?

Live with it, Superman fans. SR sucks and is crappy as can be.

I'll admit it. I wanted Superman Returns to be the best comic book movie ever and I think it failed terribly in that regard.

But watching the movie again, It told a pretty good Superman story in my opinion. The movie wasn't great, but I think it beats Spider-Man 3 by a long shot. I was invested in the characters by the end of Superman Returns and the action wasn't over the top, it helped tell the story.

Both movies aren't great but there's a big reason why SR is a better movie than SM3. I would be more willing (and I think a lot of others would agree) to watch SR again. I could get something out of SR by watching it again. SM3 not only has no redeeming value, it makes you want to walk out before the movie is over. I could care less if I never see SM3 again for as long as I live. People are going to ask me what I think of this film today, they will ask me if they should go see it. After watching the film, I can't reccommend it to anyone, because I know almost everyone will care less by the end. I could at least see how you could enjoy SR and I think the general population did for the most part. There is really no way I can see people truly enjoying SM3.

One of the most important things wrong with Spider-Man 3 was the ending. You just weren't excited to see another Spider-Man film after it. Every good comic book film makes you care about the character and excited to see his future adventures. The original Superman movie did that. Batman Begins did that. Spider-Man 2 did that beautifully. Spider-Man 3 failed to do that and so much else. Very dissapointing.

But yes overall, Superman Returns didn't wow or excite us with greatness like we wanted either. I guess movies like the original Superman, Batman Begins, and Spider-Man 2 don't come along too often.

The original poster pointed out

"The scene where Venom finds Sandman and somehow knows Sandmans whole deal and relationship with Spiderman even though he had never even met him?"

The reason he knows this, where to find MJ, that she calls him Tiger, and that he calls his warning power spider-sense. Is the symbiote obtained all of Peter's knowledge when it was attached to him. Though they should of had a scene to show it.

well said man...the symbiote knows everything about parker.two hour and half and they can't show that. Not everyone is verse in the world of spiderman. they never took the time to developed sandman and venom.

this movie sucked ass. entirely too crammed, emo parker dancing and snapping ruined it alone, too many villains, venom/brock should have been in 4....symbiote in 3....team up with harry to defeat sandman...cliffhanger ending of venom transformation...thats where they would have gotten just as much money, and fan satisfaction. spidey 3 is gonna have a big opening weekend....but thats it...Pirates At World's End trailer is better than this entire movie...thats sad folks. im a huge spidey fan, i love raimi, but simply put....Raimi f***** up.

symbiote knows everything what parker knows, but parker didn't know about sandman's daughter, so how does venom know that she needs to be operated?

I hated it as well. It felt rushed, the symbiote was treated as a joke, Harry got shafted for some lameass villain like Sandman, and Sam Raimi ass-raped Venom infront of our eyes.
Ha Ha Ha! lol... Remembering the tree rape scenario Raimi used before...:cwink:

I love it dude, I'm only dissapointed that SM3 should be the best in the spider-man movies and it's the least.

Spider-man triology is the best (Spider-man, Mary Jane, Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, Hobgoblin, Venom, Gwen Stacy, Aunt Mary= All rocks)

LOL, I won't live with it because it's not a fact, that's your opinion. I was disappointed with SM3 and found some scenes outright terrible but I'm not gonna start telling Spidey fans to live with it, that it was a complete disappointment and at times terrible, as if it was a fact. I know there are still plenty of fans that love SM3. It's all just opinion.

I don't like both SM3 and SR... i'm gonna start to think that this is the end of an era... :(

SR (7/10)>>>SM3 (4/10) for me.

Both TDK (especially this one as it's sequel of one of the best superhero films IMO) and IM look like great movies, but everything can happen (just like it did to Spidey 3).

damn, I was looking forward to seeing this movie, but so many friends came back saying either it was just "Okay", but my one buddy (Big Venom/Carnage fan) just outright hated it, said it ruined the Franchise, and utterly wasted Brock/Venom.

Good for you, sir.
It's still down there with SR as two of the worst superheroe movies ever.

While I didn't HATE Spider-Man 3, what mostly bothers me is that what is on the screen COULD work, with a few changes/additions:

1) The symbiote should have been tied to John Jameson... they already had the character introduced... why throw him away?
2) The symbiote needed more scenes crawling over Peter, forming his mask for him, and becoming 'attached' to him. We also need a scene of Peter trying to remove the costume before the bell-tower and realizing that he can't.
3) Scenes showing Eddie after the bell-tower, coming to grips with the symbiote... accepting it and discovering his new powers. Showcasing Venom in all his glory in his own screen time.
4) A better meeting of Sandman and Venom, giving them more concrete reasons for their team-up.
5) More scenes with Spidey out and about, stopping crime in his black outfit... but being way more brutal than heroic.

Let's hope that this makes so much money that Raimi can make a lengthy, extended Spider-Man 3.1.

Well said! I didn't hate it either, but I would have liked to see some more of Venom and Spider-Man in his new costume.

Some parts of the movie seemed very rushed, notably the genesis of Venom and Sandman's partnership. I actually thought I had tuned out 10 minutes or so of the film and missed where they met earlier. Seems that they tried to force emotion too much in some places. The ending left me . There's a lot of good-looking action, but the overall feel to falls flat too often. SM3 didn't nearly strike the same chords with me as the first two. I got too much enjoyment out of it to truly 'hate' it, but I am disappointed.

Yeah. I expected a lot more from this movie. I still liked it, but I was bummed after watching it. Especially if this was the last go-around for this cast. Could have been a hell of a lot better if they hadn't squeezed so much into it. I still love the trilogy though and I do hope that they make a 4th with the original actors.

Did anyone else like the first Half? Then hated the Second half?

As I've said a few times in a few threads, I didn't feel 'connected'... but yes, I did find myself thinking the second time that the first part was tolerable, if I forgot about Sandman and that damn skateboarder outfit. But once the second the symbiote came into the picture, that was it.

I really don't understand what people who hated this movie expected. All of these movies are cheesy in some way.

Like in Spider-Man when GG attacks Jameson, then Spidey shows up, and GG says " Sleeeeeeeep". I thought GG was over-dramatic and it was hard to take it seriously.

And in Spider-Man 2, how could Doc Ock get punched in the face and beat up so badly, and still not have a scratch on him? He doesn't even have a superpower, and Spidey gets cut up more then Ock does. And why do his tentacles make noise? They make hissing noise and other weird noises that I thought was weird.

And to all the people who say Sandman should've gotten the Ock treatment: WTF does that even mean? I suppose you all mean he should've turned good in the end. Isn't that what Sandman did? When he realized Harry was pretty much dead (at the time), he said " I didn't want it to be like this". He then apologizes in the best way he can, and drifts away. what was Peter supposed to do when he apologized? Continue to fight Sandman?

Overall, Spider-Man is a good first movie, Spider-Man 2 is overrated, and Spider-Man 3 is underrated.

Oh, and about Christopher Young's score:

I thought he did a much better job then Danny Elfman. I don't even know how Danny Elfman's theme song for Spider-Man or GG goes, I just remember a bunch of instruments playing together that sound like The Nightmare Before Christmas. At least I know how Young's theme song for Black-suited Spidey, Sandman, and The New Goblin goes.

^ Well, let me tell you how many cringes the first two Spiderman movies gave me. Still, the second one had a pleasant amount of seriousness. Spiderman 3 went too far pretending to be funny and replacing the drama with childish unfunny gags.
