That issue is hilarious, I love the satirical thought of Howard the Duck on the guy in the taxi:
Dude: "I'm Status Quo"
Howard (Thinking to himself): "Oh great, I can feel an origin story coming"

Two observations from today's batch

1) Spec Spider-Man #94 has one of the weirdest titles I've ever seen in a Spider-Man comic. (And I've seen some crazy DeFalco and Stan Lee ones)

2) Is it just me, or are the "Shroud" and the "Cloak", from name to appearance to powers, essentially the same damn character? I guess Cloak is slightly less lame, because I think he was first and he had Dagger.

....

Slightly.

Slightly.

1) I believe that title to Spec #94 was based on an old song penned in the wake of America's entry into World War One. How 'Ya Gonna Keep 'Em Down on the Farm? (After They've Seen Paree) was written by Joe Young and Sam M. Lewis with music by Walter Donaldson, and was published in 1918. A huge popular success at the time the song was performed by a great many artists in the immediate post-war years.

2) The Shroud appeared first by about 6 years... He first appeared in 1976 while Cloak first appeared in 1982. Cloak has D'Spayre's Dark Form, which gave him the ability to create an aperture into the dimension of darkness and to dispatch persons into the darkness dimension. He also gained the abilities of intangibility, and the teleportation of himself and others through the dimension of darkness, while the Shroud possesses the mystical ability to create an aperture into Darkforce Dimension and to project the thick, inky gas-like substance of the Darkforce Dimension into Earth's dimension for his own use. This darkness is not simply the absence of light, but the negation of it. No illumination can penetrate it. It is unknown how much of this darkness the Shroud can summon at once. He can blanket a small auditorium in darkness within several seconds. The darkness he projects does not fill a volume instantly: it is possible to see its hazy boundary move like thick, black smoke in the air. There appears to be no limit to the length of time the Shroud can maintain the darkness. However, loss of concentration can disrupt his power to summon and control darkness, and if the Shroud is rendered unconscious the darkness seems to be naturally drawn through the portal from whence it came. (all info from wikipedia).

TMoB, God bless you for keeping this up! It still reminds me (painfully) that there would have been a new Raimi-Spidey-Movie in a little over three months from now. After seeing the new costume, I'm worried for what we'll hav eto settle for, you now? It still may be great, but it won't be because of the suit.

Anyways, figured I'd shoot a little love your way, man! Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks... I don't know if you read it a few posts back, but I have a little one along the way as well... coming up real soon... I hope I can finish this...

:yay:

What a pro... Cutting Spidey's web while holding a helpless girl...next time stay awake while Prof X is talking.

Seriously though, this is one of my earliest Spidey issues (flea market, no cover, etc). I think it may be the first issue that I "met" Gwen Stacy, and realized that Spidey had more going for him than just cool costume/powers. That there was actually a convoluted mess of a life.
