Anyone know when U.S bloggers can tweet their reactions? I'm seeing a bunch say they saw it but they can't say anything,

if people hate on the movie because of the twist alone, then it tells me that no matter how deftly written a change from the comic book lore is, people will reject it.

shane black "my father believed if the world found out what the twist really was, they'd reject me. he was convinced that the world..wasn't ready. what do you think?"

me: "i dunno man but you made an awesome movie"

Ok got some form of critic info. Devin Faraci is tweeting while watching Iron Man 2. He just said how bad it is and that he needs to watch Iron Man 3 again to wash out the taste. So sounds like he liked it.

Yeah, I really hope this twist (whatever it is) doesn't rub too many people the wrong way. I can already see the fanboys being upset with it, that's inevitable, but hopefully it doesn't bleed over into the mainstream. I myself don't know what it is, but if it's well executed, I'm not going to let it ruin my impression of the film. I'm not a Mandarin fan anyway and really didn't give two ****s about him before this movie, so I shouldn't care as maybe some other fanboys.

That said, it does seem like the twist so far is bringing the film's score down by about a star. I think that's the main complaint I've seen so far from critics. That and maybe too much humor. Small sample size that I've read though, so they may not be indicative of a consensus.

i don't see this happening to be honest. but who knows.

the humour complaint, while i disagree, is much more cogent than the twist complaint.

no movie can please everyone. some people hated the dark knight. some people hated the avengers. our job is to just rise above it and not get engulfed in negativity.

the twist is also a social commentary on the post-9/11 world. i can dig it.

Who gets a better showing, Savin or Brandt?

Read the PM....it just seems like Shane Black just shouldn't have even used Mandarin if he didn't have the balls to actually use the real Mandarin([BLACKOUT]since you think Killian wasn't the real Mandarin either[/BLACKOUT])

How was Guy Pearce's performance? He's a great actor, but if you consider the twist, why would Kingsley's performance outdo Pearce's one?

I don't see how Guy wouldn't be the stand out performance, seeing with the twist.

...."The 'balls'" to actually use Fu Manchu sporting two fistfuls of crackerjack rings he nabbed off a dead alien dragon from an ancient flying saucer he found crashed in the Gobi Desert....?

Mate, that doesn't take 'balls' to use ....that takes three quarts of hard whiskey and a whole buttload of stupid.

... yep, I'm done with these movies.

buh-bye. Don't let the screen door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

I have to agree with this. Mandarin didn't have to be Fu-Manchu, but they could have kept the rest of his character and made an interesting story. Now it seems like they threw all that potential out the window.

Anyone remember the comments Joss Whedon said about Iron Man 3 after he saw it? Does anyone think that when Tony gets the surgery done maybe that's what Whedon's comments were about? He said "now what am I supposed to do now? What am I going to do in Avengers 2?"

When we see that we automatically think he means "what am I going to do to top this?" But after hearing about Tony getting this surgery done did Whedon really mean "what am I going to do with the continuity now?" I don't know maybe i'm over thinking it, but i just got curious about this, what do you guys think?

I think it's just over thinking it because...

...every IM movie shows that ANYONE can wear a suit without an arc reactor in their body (Rhodes, Stane, Pepper, Vanko) so that's not a big issue

Seems they threw out a racist caricature and an over-the-top Saturday morning cartoon freakshow and replaced him with a fascinating, multilayered charismatic villain who the general audiences can actually believe in.
