The whole back and forth of the Mandarin twist has been like beating a dead horse (:bdh:) to me since the arguments don't end up changing people's minds and every one keeps going around in the same circular talking points.

It seems like some Chinese fans are not happy about the two different cuts of the movie.

Iron Man 3 international cut angers Chinese bloggers

why do the Chinese feel that they must be represented fully in everything? Chill out crazy China, I for one do not care about your country all too much.

Can we all just to agree on ignoring China?

They want to be in their own little world, let's outright give it to them.

Just got home from it!

Quite easily the best solo MCU movie for me. Marvel Studios finally took some risks. And it really payed off! Funny, fun, clever and exciting – that's Iron Man 3.

*updates sig*

There really is no pleasing the Chinese these days. Maybe they'll be happy now that they're getting the movie released 2 days earlier than originally scheduled.

So now was it really worth filming the Chinese exclusive scenes and changing the Mandarian to fit their needs?

Sheesh, if they wanted more screen time for Chinese stars, should've casted one as the Mandarian.

I originally wanted to leave a really mean comment but I didn't want to offend anyone. The Chinese really grind my gears though.

But they also sort of made it a condition, for filming in their country and having an easier time getting the film into their theaters, to not have the villain portrayed by or as someone of Chinese/East Asian descent. There's really no way they wouldn't have been angry unless they had full control over the movie, which Marvel wouldn't and shouldn't do.

they wanted the Chinese cut and international cut to be the same. they are upset that they are getting a different IM3 than everyone else... ah well

To be fair, if the Mandarin had been portrayed like he was in the comics, it would have been pretty offensive. A villain who's character is based around his race and culture? The iconography used for Kingsley was already sticky territory. Luckily, that was mostly avoided.

Edit: also wow... Some of the anti-Chinese comments here make me realise why some people had no problem with the Chinese inspires comic mandarin...

It's just that the amount of butt-kissing film studios have to do to film in China and even get it put into their theaters is what most posters don't like. Most feel they are overly intrusive.

Hey shh forums, I was just wondering where can I find a bigger picture version of this picture without the letters on there. Been trying to find it but I no luck

Agreed!

I'd like to know what the scenes are and if it chances the feel and tone of the film. I gave it a solid 8 on the review page. I can't see how pleasing one country can change it that much.

Google image search is pretty good for that, just ask it to look for huge images. Not hard.

Reading the comments of people being un-happy with the twist...

They are enraged saying that the Mandarin wasn't really used or changed beyond the point of recognition or whatever....is it just me, or people are ignoring that the twist reveals that Killian is ACTUALLY the REAL Mandarin and that Trevor was just a decoy??

Still, I was shocked when I first saw it, caught of guard and didn't know what to think...but it made me think, about the movie, about was planted before, and now I love it and...

Guy Pearce's Mandarin is definitely my favorite villian in the series and at least top 3 Marvel villian

But to the people that hated it...I mean, it's cool, ya know? This is my opinion and that's your...no biggie...

They're doing it with Transformers 4 too.

That's what you got to do to get the Chinese money and locations.

I haven't heard anyone mention that they showed SPOILER

In the beginning flashback they show Yensin from the first movie meeting Stark when he says he was drunk and did a speech on something. Thought that was awesome.

People are going to have a problem with the twist and I think that's OK.

Just like people had a problem with the twists and story directions in Dark Knight Rises. Doesn't make them wrong IMHO. Just means it didn't work for them.

So, can anyone provide an estimate of this film's Bluray release date?

I just came back from the film. Absolutely brilliant. Loved it. Wasn't bothered by the twist but I can see why it would divide opinion. The MCU could have used a villain as menacing as Mandarin was prior the twist. however the twist got a lot of laughs in the theater and it seems people weren't bothered by it.
The one thing that is bugging me though is at the end. If taking out the arc reactor was just a matter of surgery why didn't he removed in Iron man 2 when it was killing him? Was he going to wait and die? Was that explained anywhere?
