The Dark Knight The James Gordon / Gary Oldman Thread

And I doubt TDK will have a lot of The Killing Joke references. I bet The Joker will torment Gordon, but probably not as directly as in that story. HOWEVER, Heath Ledger leading Batman through a demented circus would be the coolest scene in the movie.

there was an article posted here, maybe it was the wizard one, where the opening paragraph was about how the joker has driven gordon to the breaking point...i remember he thinks theyve caught him in a bank vault, they enter and the vault's empty, and gordon flips out...anybody know that article?

Gordon smashing the Bat signal sounds very interesting.

its a really great shot...it looks like a funeral, with all the cops surrounding gordon in the rain as he raises the axe...it was shots like that one that have me salivating for this movie.

I'm pretty sure Batman is framed for somthin The Scarecrow and those fake batmen are involved with. In Gordon's confusion, and sucess of the ruse or framing of Batman, he thinks he made a mistake befreinding him. This to me makes sense. Maybe a lil Joker shinanigans as the cherry on the stress ice cream sundae.

Is it at daytime or night time?

That sounds AWSOME. WE finally get to see Gordon do something in the new franchise. AWSOME. That's all I can say.

Yeah I'm glad Nolan's brother came on board to help with the script. He did a brilliant job on The Prestige.

The Prestige is an awesome movie.

Agreed, before BB Gordon was essentially non-existent. That always pissed me off because Gordon is one of the most essential characters in the Batman mythos. God Bless Oldman.

Why the hell does Gordon destroy the bat signal? That seems very very STUPID to me. Its like Nolan is destroying elements from the comics....the tumbler, Wayne Manor, and now the bat signal?

Read the comics.

It was and the teaser trailer initially released for it remains my favorite trailer of all time. It was just sick.

"Secrets are my life."

I feel that Gordon's wife and child may be targeted by Joker at some point in the film. Melinda McGraw is a decent actress and she was chosen specifically to flesh out the character methinks.

Gordon's targeted by the mob when they find out he's in league with Batman.

Well, there is a scene where Batman is crouched on a railing, rain is pouring. Gordon is holding his wife back because she is hysterical, screaming at Batman. Something along the lines of, " It's your fault! ALL THIS STARTED BECAUSE OF YOU!." This leads me to believe that Gordon's son dies. Just a guess.

She's hysterical because Gordon's getting death threats and is being attacked by corrupt cops (a la YEAR ONE). Because the mob finds out he's been helping Batman, who has been taking them apart. Which is why he then
fakes his death with the help of Harvey Dent

where'd you see this scene?!?!

It was mentioned by someone working on set, who provided the shot list, as well as cell phone camera pictures of some of the scene being staged.

I remember hearing something at least similar to this a long time ago when they were filming in C-Town. I knew she blamed Batman for the threats and him having to fake his death. I was under the impression she thought that he was actually killed.

See, hen Jonah first came on board I was sceptical, I hadn't seen The Prestige and all I could think was 'oh god, why has he got his brother on board?' It seemed as if Mrs. Nolan had told Chris to stop bullying his little brother and give him a job!

After see The Prestige (Wow, is all I can say) and from what i've read and seen of The Dark Knight, boy was I wrong. Jonah seems to be an incredibly talented writer and teamed with Chris they make an almost perfect team.

Can't wait for the whole story involving Gordon and his wife and Batman and oh god just all of it.

It appears as my theory is correct though, and that Gordon fakes his own death for protection from the mob rather then from Joker. Go me.

w00t.

i was sold on jonah when i first bought the memento special edition dvd 6 or so years ago and read the original short story he wrote that inspired memento. he's just an incredible writer...and no offense to goyer, but i think he's ALOT better with dialogue. i know people are freaking out about the dialogue because of sides, but the prologue has already proved that the sides were almost completely inaccurate. i thought that the prestige was a wonderfully written film, too. as for gordon, im just glad they are giving him an active role in this sequel...id have to say he's my favorite "normal" character in the batman universe, by far.

I would imagine she'd blame Batman for his death, period. I doubt she's going to know it's "faked".
