Gordon smashing the Bat signal sounds very interesting.
And I doubt TDK will have a lot of The Killing Joke references. I bet The Joker will torment Gordon, but probably not as directly as in that story. HOWEVER, Heath Ledger leading Batman through a demented circus would be the coolest scene in the movie.

its a really great shot...it looks like a funeral, with all the cops surrounding gordon in the rain as he raises the axe...it was shots like that one that have me salivating for this movie.
That sounds AWSOME. WE finally get to see Gordon do something in the new franchise. AWSOME. That's all I can say.

Why the hell does Gordon destroy the bat signal? That seems very very STUPID to me. Its like Nolan is destroying elements from the comics....the tumbler, Wayne Manor, and now the bat signal?

The Prestige is an awesome movie.
Is it at daytime or night time?
Well, there is a scene where Batman is crouched on a railing, rain is pouring. Gordon is holding his wife back because she is hysterical, screaming at Batman. Something along the lines of, " It's your fault! ALL THIS STARTED BECAUSE OF YOU!." This leads me to believe that Gordon's son dies. Just a guess.
See, hen Jonah first came on board I was sceptical, I hadn't seen The Prestige and all I could think was 'oh god, why has he got his brother on board?' It seemed as if Mrs. Nolan had told Chris to stop bullying his little brother and give him a job!
After see The Prestige (Wow, is all I can say) and from what i've read and seen of The Dark Knight, boy was I wrong. Jonah seems to be an incredibly talented writer and teamed with Chris they make an almost perfect team.
Can't wait for the whole story involving Gordon and his wife and Batman and oh god just all of it.
It appears as my theory is correct though, and that Gordon fakes his own death for protection from the mob rather then from Joker. Go me.
w00t.
It was mentioned by someone working on set, who provided the shot list, as well as cell phone camera pictures of some of the scene being staged.
