The Dark Knight The James Gordon / Gary Oldman Thread

where did it say that Joker was back in Arkham? He escaped in Begins but I didn't hear any rumbling of him getting back in at the end of TDK.

He escaped in BB, thats a knew one... and I was jsut assuming he'd end up in Arkham at the end of TDK

...suicide? Gamble? Joker? possibilities, possibilities. I suppose no one knows
yeah. it's hard to say how maroni dies. maybe a car crash. some kind of irony. or maybe shortly after two-face kills him anyway. could be a lot of things.

I thought Harvey's coin spared Maroni, but not the driver? Who kills Maroni?

Aparently Maroni does. In the last interview with Eric Roberts he reveals this. Its after the coin toss scene.

who said he escapes in begins? we don't know where he came from.

at the end of begins Gordon talks about the escaped convicts of Arkham from the Fear Toxin Attack, and then says "take this one for example".

I think thats a pretty strong indication he was in Arkham, really thats all we know about his origin.

Ahem. "Take this guy."

Maroni is dead we know that, I guess probably by Two-Face.

Joker didn't escape from Arkham, when Gordon says take this guy he has jsut refered to Batman wearing a costume, not to the Arkham situation.

Jim Gordon: And what about escalation?
Bruce Wayne: Escalation?
Jim Gordon: We get semi-automatic weapons, they get automatics. We get Kevlar body armor, they get armor-piercing rounds. And *you're* wearing a mask and jumping off rooftops. Take this guy: armed robbery, double homicide. Has a taste for theatrics, like you. Leaves a calling card.
Bruce Wayne: I'll look into it.
Jim Gordon: I never said, "Thank you."
Bruce Wayne: And you'll never have to.

The thing legends are made of

Yeah I thought so, I was sure he didn't refer to Arkham and Joker together... Meh, doesn't matter.

I'm sure Gorden is a direct target, but he is also an indirect target as well, click to read more.

After the death of Loeb a funeral precession of 3,000 cops march to a stage that sits right in front of Wayne Tower. The Mayor gives a speech about Loeb and then a 21 gun salute takes place. Gorden receives a call and is notified that their are snipers in the buildings. On the third shot of the 21 salute, the men take there rifles and aim directly at the Mayor along with the men in the buildings. Gorden jumps in front of the Mayors way and takes the hit, blood is everywhere and all hell breaks loose with the police dispersing everywhere. Gorden's down, Harvey takes Dawes to a limo, then takes charge of the situation. The Joker and his goons also wear uniforms shooting cops as they run opposite of where the stage is. Harvey helps throw Gorden in an ambulance, more shots are fired, jumps in the drivers seat and drives off.

I took my fan appreciation to the next level tonight, and instead of just wikipiding it again, I went out and bought The Long Halloween.

I haven't been in a comic store since Age of Apocalypse, when I was like 10.

I don't rarely post, but after tonights usual rounds of the superherohype's dark knight boards.

I'm soooooo gonna' ******* read that **** tonight.

For whatever reason Gordon smashes the signal...In my opinion he looked hesitant, he looked pressured to do it by all the people he was surrounded by, and it really doesnt matter to me because I`m pretty sure that by the end of the movie whatever it was Gordon and Bats are friends again the way it should be

Some people punch pillows to let off some steam. Others do yoga. Gordon prefers to smash bat signals.

What happens to Gordon I'm glad he actually plays a role in Nolan's movies. The Gordon in the previous movies was a joke.

Well in TDK we know he helps Batman get Maroni and round up the mobs, he jumps infront of the mayor, saving him from an assassination attempt by the Joker, he fakes his own death, and he smashes the Batsignal. His wife and son are both in the movie as well. His role is pretty vague, but there are some specific scenes, which I mentioned, that he is known to have a part in.

I think it is safe to say that Bats and Gordon will be at odds for at least a portion of the movie. Batmen committing crimes. Joker killing to find the real Batman. It would be pretty easy to place blame on Batman.

And I doubt TDK will have a lot of The Killing Joke references. I bet The Joker will torment Gordon, but probably not as directly as in that story. HOWEVER, Heath Ledger leading Batman through a demented circus would be the coolest scene in the movie.

Oddly enough, I just DL'd the torrent the other day.

Got tired of Wiki'ing.

I'm on book 4...It's amazing thus far.

I can see the different elements being pulled from TLH for TDK.

Like how all of these freaks suddenly show up when Batman emerges on the scene...Escalation.

The mob stuff, etc.
