The Dark Knight The James Gordon / Gary Oldman Thread

When you saw The Dark Knight at the cinema did people in the audience start clapping when
Gordon arrested The Joker
? It happened when I saw the film, but whilst it was a great scene I just wondered if it was particularly special to other people.
Every. damn. time.

I know right! i didn't want it to happen.

He never said anything about dropping out. He simply stated that he is considering retiring from acting very soon...

I definitely read an article where they said he tried to get out of The Dark Knight and they had a video interview where he alludes to his three-film-contract being locked solid.

But I hope he doesn't retire indefinitely because he's without a doubt one of the greatest of our living actors.

I agreeeeee!!

Here is another pic from Andre@s of Oldman as Gordon .

Gary Oldman was great in TDK. A lot of people overlook Bale, Oldman, Eckhart, but they bring as much quality to the movie was Ledger did. Someone once questioned 'was Batman in this movie?' I have to say, Bruce Wanye had more scenes than himself as Batman. I'd also go as far as to say Jim Gordon was the glue that held this film together. Everyone falls into place.

The last line he gave gives me the geek chills because he delivers the line so perfect

Gary Oldman - never has Ned Flanders been so attractive to me.

Gary Oldman is the unsung hero of this movie. He was brilliant in an unassuming way. Pure brilliance. Give him an Oscar.

He played tough, caring, depressed, desperate, bad-ass - everything.

What a legend!!

I absolutely loved Oldman's Gordon and I also liked seeing how he became comissioner and how he got a bigger role in TDK.

oldman was great as gordon, but what troubles me is how quickly his kids aged. if begins is really set only a year before teh events of tdk how do they explain that gordon had a baby in begins and has two school age kids in tdk? baffling.

I hope that if and when part 3 comes out, they give him an even bigger role with lots more to do

he does deserve an nomination for his performance. its a shame that the academy has not recognized his talent yet.

I have never seen an actor disappear as much into a role as I did Oldman as Oswald in JFK. One of the finest acting performances that I've ever seen.

Gary OlDman. Coincidence ? I think not. He makes even the lamest and most explanatory dialog feel interesting, that is the mark of a superior actor.

Thanks for ruining my crush on the Commissioner :csad: :o

So many awesome moments for gordon in this movie. For the first time he was done some justice (though he wasn't bad in begins.) I love the final scene between gordon, harvey, and batman. The tension is so high in that scene and oldman is amazing in it as well as every other scene in the movie.
