The Dark Knight The James Gordon / Gary Oldman Thread

Wow. What's going on with the boards tonight?

yea gary oldman is probly britains best actor IMO. he can just play so many characters from the strangely charasmatic dracula, insanley intense bent copper in leon, zanily funny mr zorg in 5th element and meticulous, intelligent and most of all noble hearted comish gordon in tdk. brilliant actor absolutly brilliant actor. and by the way all gary oldman fans should check out NIL BY MOUTH he isn't in it but he wrote and directed it. its loosely based on his life growing up in londons east end

Oldman is such an amazing actor. He is definitley the best James Gordon i have ever seen. I've seen quite a few of his movies, and he is definitely one of the greatest british actors of all time.

When Gordon faked his death and returned later to save Batman, that was definitley a badass moment, calling the Joker a son of a *****. At least one of his characters didn't really die. I was in tears when i saw his last scene in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

If the academy chooses to nominate two actors for best supporting actor, i am hoping that its Heath Ledger and Gary Oldman that they will nominate. This film is now offically my favorite Gary Oldman film.

Yea Gary Oldman is a great actor. I loved his portral of Sirius Black. I was upset to see him die too. :(
I was pissed when he died in TDK. lol
Then i was like-------he's not dead! He's not even Commish!!!!
The professional lol. I watched that on HBO yesterday hahahha. Hes psycho in that movie.
He does deserve a nomination.

Bah he didn't do anything as Sirius Black

Now as Zorg, that is a different story

I just......liked the character....Sirius Black...... :( lol.

Sorry, I tried getting into Harry Potter but almost every aspect of it annoys me.

Dont forget "Drexel" in True Romance!!!!!

I was quite upset as well. I wanted to throw something at the screen! I think I would have too, had I not been so shocked!

I love how he saved Batman & Harvey Dent.

I liked when James Jr said "Did Batman save you Daddy?"

Gordon goes "Actually this time I saved him"

That was one of the best scenes in the movie! (Adding in the Thomas Wayne theme was a great touch!)

I liked that line...But Gordon's kid just didn't seem to emote well when sad...He would be crying for a bit and then wondering where Batman is going while not even caring that his father almost just died...Again.

I dont know i really didnt think much of it.
If you remember---Gotham has only been doing better for only a little while--and granted his son didnt see as much crime as other childern in the slums but im guessing that he's used to having had his dad being in a lot of danger. He is a cop. and for GOTHAM on top of that.
But i dont know. I didnt really notice it until it was brought up here.
He was very frightened and crying when two face had a hold of him. and when he saw batman get shot.
But i mean if you see the man that had a gun to your head lying dead on the ground id be a little more gleeful myself lol.

Also...Jr. seems more infatuated with Batman than his dad...It's like Batman's his hero...Always wondering about him...Did Batman save you?...Where's he going?...Did anyone else notice this? Is Batman more of a "hero" to James Jr. than his own dad?

Gary Oldman, is an amazing actor.

Everything he plays in, he's good at.

yea he was. But i was infatuated with batman too growing up and my dad has been a cop all my life lol. imagine if he was real!!!!!!
OMG i dont know what i would do with myself LOL!

But yea he did like batman alot and questioned about him alot. but at the same time---if your dad worked with batman you'd probably want to know the 411 on him all the time too :oldrazz:

I know i would! :D

Well, he does have a couple of more movies coming out. So i doubt he's gonna retire anytime soon.

As for True Romance, never seen it.

And i almost forget his role in JFK as Lee Harvey Oswald. Terrific performance!

Is there anything the man can't do?

He is very much so a character actor...These types of actors don't usually quit early!

To me no one has ever really played James Gordon. Until now.

Gary Oldman is such a wonderful actor and has truly brought the character to life. right down to the look, he just jumps off of the comic book page.

Way back when I first saw Gary as Gordon my jaw dropped 'cause I couldn't believe how great and faithful he looked.

And then when I saw his performance I was really happy and in TDK he's evolved, his character seems to be stronger this time, and that's due to Batman giving him hope and more self assurance in his job and so forth, before he was a bit timid, but as you see at the end of Batman Begins he starts getting more brave, as I said more self assured 'cause now he has someone to help him fight the evil and corruption, and he has someone to truly clean up the city. As Bruce said, "Now we're Two."

I have always loved Gordon and his and Batman's relationship. I am so incredibly happy to see that come to life in these awesome new movies.
I loved seeing he and Batman in the bank vault scene, and of course as everyone has raved about the rooftop scene with Dent aswell.

Gordon's finally alive. Oldman had better stay on for all of these films 'cause there is no one else to play Jim, he is Jim and that's that.:brucebat:
