The Joker Thread - Part 1

I wish he wasn't such a monstrous ******* that no one will work with him. He's perfect.

I’ve seen him mentioned a few times in this thread but I’m feeling it right now.

Honestly after Phoenix sort of took the sloppy Joker as far as it can go, this cocky little brat could be just what the doctor ordered.

The more I think about the more I love the thought of Driver as Joker. :hmm

Give me a Joker at that Abraham H Parnassus level of intensity

I mean the struggling comedian falling in the vat of chemicals thing also isn’t exactly a Killing Joke exclusive thing. Wasn’t that Joker’s accepted origin for forever?

Characters, like people grow and change. Arthur had his “fall into acid” moment when he put on the makeup, and he also is about 10-15 years ahead of Bruce becoming Batman. I don’t think it’s inconceivable to think he could grow into the more masterful crime prince over a decade and a half. Maybe that would even make an interesting film/sequel on it’s own, seeing his transition!

Characters definitely grow, I just feel like the groundwork already establishes Arthur as a bit slow, emotional in a child-like way, and not exactly criminal mastermind material.

He doesn't seem like he would have criminal mastermind aspirations either in that Joker-like way, but certainly that part could change. I just think it would be quite the leap if he develops that nefarious intellect when he's exhibited nothing to suggest he'd be able to...

Lets have it. Joker 2! :D

I really want Joaquin back if they do Joker in this trilogy

also, Margot has not really impressed me. She is a fantastic actress, but her Harley isn’t transcendent. I think the right actress could give a transcendent performance of Harley like Heath and Joaquin did for Joker. I’d be ok with a recast.

Too bad the guy is a colossal *****ebag on set. Supposedly.

I don't think Phoenix's Joker makes sense in this Batman movie given some of the villains that show up.

Plenty of actors are. I don't see how that's still an excuse.

Even if it was just for one film... Leto was a colossal ass hat himself and still managed to get SOME semblance of screen time in the role

If not Joaquin,

Driver or Poulter
Adam Driver? Bit of a weird one tbh but I guess it's something I'd have to think about

With Pitt, I've heard he routinely shows up late to set, and doesn't have his lines memorized. Being arrogant is one thing. Unprofessionalism is another.

Acting like a weird dick and sending weird stuff to cast and crew, as well as trying to get a movie that doesn't star you shut down, ain't that professional either lol

But if that's the case with him... I guess I see your point. Can't be like that with EVERY single role, however.

... Can it ?

Michael Pitt would be a huge step down from Heath and Joaquin.

I think Driver could turn in a performance that could rival those two. There’s not many that could IMO.

If we continue the tradition of Oscar nominees, Rami Malek and Adam Driver.

Both would be incredible.
I’m leaning more towards Driver though as my top choice.
Somewhere between his great comedic timing and his intensity as Kylo Ren is a fantastic Joker. :funny:
