Let Reeves do his own Joker if he decides to include the character somewhere in his trilogy. It's not fair to Joaquin having him try to take such a authentic approach to the character in a Batman movie that sounds closer to the comics. Besides, the idea of Reeves picking someone like Adam Driver to be Joker would be great

I honestly don’t really want to see Phoenix’s Joker. The movie was okay, his performance was great, but he never felt like The Joker to me. I like my clown prince of crime to at least have a hint of genius to him.

Sure, he could easily play another version of the character. Phoenix is a great actor. But he should t just randomly shift his characterization just cause. They should have set that element of him up better in the Joker film, OR hit the unreliable narrator aspect of the story harder to make us legitimately wonder if the entire film we watched was all just a fever dream the Joker cooked up.

Phoenix was a great Joker.
One of my favorite versions of the character.

That’s exactly why I don’t want to see him changed to fit a Batman movie or for Phoenix to play a different version of The Joker.
I don’t even want a sequel to that movie.

Have to agree with this. Joaquin said he has to develop a connection with the director or he’s not likely to pursue a project. So he would have to really hit it off with Matt Reeves in the next few years or else this isn’t happening.

That's the thing though. Matt Reeves and Joaquin Phoenix hitting it off doesn't seem that far fetched to be honest.

As great as Ledger and Phoenix were in and of themselves, someday I'd like to get away from the gritty, grungy Jokers and finally get a perma-white, dandyish Joker.

Something in the vein of The Man Who Laughs would be great.

I feel like Nicholson had some of that class. The characterization and chubbier look just didn’t hit all the right notes. If Reeves is going to bring forth a new Joker, giving him a slick short hair look with a taste for classy clothes would be the way to go. No Leto bling bling, owning clubs though. Maybe a young Joker who feels like he’s a lost soul from a bygone era.

Finally got around to seeing Hell or High Water and I’ll honestly be low-key disappointed if it’s not Ben Foster.



He’s obviously a talented actor, but isn’t prestige enough that he’d make the role about him. As great as some of our Jokers have been, they’ve always been slightly overshadowed by the actor, in my opinion. I don’t want to watch another superstar actor’s interpretation of the character (not knocking, we’ve just had three versions of this already), I want to see the Crown Prince of Crime as a scene stealing —as opposed to show stealing— supporting character in a Batman movie.

Phoenix's Joker , for the first time I felt like I was watching a Joker (from Comics in real life) to me. Especially when he appeared in that TV show.
