Given how young this Batman is we wont see Joker and specially Harley for a while. No need to worry about it.

It's not set in the DCEU if by DCEU you mean the interconnected universe of Batman v Superman, Justice League, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Suicide Squad/Birds of Prey, etc.

It's not connected to any of them.

Was just going to write that. You’re so right! Damon Herriman or Walton Goggins could both play a joker like this beautifully.

I meant it in a broader sense in terms of multi-picture franchises that in his eyes appear more commercial than artistic (the path he followed after Twilight). He turned down the MCU and others like that.
Btw, I feel like Pattinson would make for an incredible Scott Summers in the MCU.

They wouldn’t restart a shared universe unless they had Pattinson locked down for such a premise. And Rob isn’t going to commit without a director/script that he admires. So they can do whatever they want with Flash, they have to take this one movie at a time. Especially with this virus stuff happening, long term plans for anything (MCU included) is out the window. The entire industry will have to take this one film project at a time.

So at this point you may as well get Justice League and superhero team ups out of your head. Sequels for this movie may not even happen or be in the cards. Let’s focus on The Batman. I’m guilty of thinking about Robin or Joker coming into a sequel, but it’s time to kill those thoughts and just hope this movie gets made without too many problems and that it’s a good one.

This is closer to the DCAU version than anything. No real Heath Ledger influence besides *maybe* the lips.

The MCU spoiled me big time. I'm fine with 'Joker' being a one-off, but I'm already tired of being in limbo with DC. If all goes well (characterizations included), then I'll probably want it to be either retconned into the DCEU or be the start of a rebooted DCEU.

Bleached skin. Permanent smile. No red for the smile either. Short hair. Bring the purple suits back. No name or definitive origin story. A bit classier. Batman’s age.
