The Joker Thread - Part 1

Bleached white skin (perma-white), wears lipstick to make his lips red. His hair was also bleached in the accident (more realistic than having it dyed green, imo) and so dyes his hair green.

Joker venom is a chemical weapon that initially reacts like laughing gas, but is ramped up to the point of suffocating the victim (can't breathe if you can't stop laughing) and finally stretches the facial muscles into the trademark grin.

Other weapons at Joker's disposal are knives, a machine gun and a custom joy buzzer he modified himself.

I imagine a Joker with an engineering background who can create chemicals and different weapons. Not really a fighter, but not a complete wimp either.

There, a realistic take on the classic comic Joker. No smudgy white make up needed.
What if his hair was a barely noticeable green, like a blonde-ish, brownish, or black-ish green?

Fantastic idea. Nice blend of realism and comic Joker. Although when you say that Joker venom initially reacts like laughing gas, are you talking about the nitrous oxide that dentists use?

Honestly, what DOES bleached hair look like (the type that's been in a chemical accident)? I see images of dyed hair but nothing like what you guys seem to be going for.

Bleaching hair is different from dyeing it. Bleaching hair removes the color in an irreversible chemical reaction. I imagine that the accident completely removes all color from his body and hair.

Yes. I imagine it initially relaxes you somewhat and gives you the giggles (like laughing gas), but it ramps up after a little bit and becomes an uncontrollable laughing fit (that "relaxed" feeling quickly giving way to terror) until the victim is ultimately suffocated and the facial muscle stretch into the grin.

Sure. That Punisher movie (any of them for that matter) does nothing for me but I thought BoP was a blast. Was laughing start to finish.
I will say BOP wasn't a mess like Punisher Warzone and Harley was the best part for me. I didn't like what they did with some characters(don't want to spoil it for people who didn't watch yet). I won't get started on the youtubers who want everything DC to be R rated etc.So if you enjoyed it that's great,I am not dumping on anybody for liking it.Just stating my own opinion that's all :up:

Bleaching your hair only changes the color you currently have, just like dyeing. If his hair grows out a different color, that's a whole other reaction.

With all due respect to Telltale (John Doe is a very well-written character), I'm not that sure about a very human Joker turning evil after we kinda got that with Arthur Fleck (assuming that the events of the film happened). I'm not saying it's impossible, but personally I'd like to just have an evil Joker.

I think the big difference is that John Doe kinda has some charisma to him, someone you almost kinda like and root for instead of solely have sympathy for. Plus his turn is a much more personal one. A large part of it lies on the shoulders of Batman and can be built up into a slow burn. So in turns of what we would have seen on film, I think it can put some distance between itself and others that way.

With that I think you can still be afforded the opportunity to (eventually) have a straight up evil incarnation of the character, I think having a Telltale-esque background adds a little bit more flavor to it and salt in the wound for Batman

While I'd still prefer a "monstrous" Joker (CLJ to be exact at the moment), those are some very good points. It makes their rivalry that much more personal and even heartbreaking. Someone said earlier in this thread that Bill Hader could play this version, and I agree especially if you've watched Barry.

yeah you aren't the only one who's gone on to say this. lol
Seconded. I was never really able to get on board with a Black Mask that acts a little more like Joker than the DCEU Joker himself. I also hated his Joker-y wardrobe.

I love his character design and I do like what TellTale did with him. I am not a fan of sympathetic Joker at all! I like when Joker is pure evil and having fun with it kinda like Castor Troy from Face-Off. There so many Marvel/DC villains that you should feel sympathetic for like Magneto,Man-Bat,Mr Freeze,Two-Face,Dr Doom etc. When done right like Fox's Magneto & The Mcu's Kilmonger,Loki,The Vulture and Thanos I don't mind at all( I guess because they are still villains but with villains with a purpose). By saying that I still prefer just pure evil villains, they are fun to watch and it make us root for the hero even more :yay::hoboj::batman:

I know right! First they did it with Lex in BvS and now with Black Mask! It remind me of the 90s and early 00s era of DC/Marvel movies where each actor from Tommy Lee Jones,Jim Carry,Uma Thurman,Colin Ferrell, kinda William Defoe and so on. Either they pull a goofy Jack Nicholson's Joker ripoff or just chew the hell out of the scenery! Sometimes I will admit its fun to watch via William Defoe Green Goblin and other times its just plain cringe! :barf:

I don't really know why, but I prefer a permawhite Joker putting on lipstick as opposed to having permanently red lips. Maybe the image of him actually applying it is just so bizarre (in a great way) that it works so well. Same goes for the eyeliner.

Honestly, I'm curious right now. Which type of Joker do you guys generally prefer? Permawhite or face paint? Personally, I prefer permawhite 94% of the time, especially if he's part of a larger universe. If you have him existing in a universe with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, Clayface, etc then there's no excuse for having him wear face paint.

Indeed. Though I imagine, seeing as how his entire body has been submerged and consequently bleached, that the pigmentation of the hair follicle inside the scalp would be affected.

I was all about that facepaint over the last decade but it ran its course. And I didn’t like the look of Leto’s skin. If you’re going perma-white, at least make it look like it messed with his body a bit. Deformed a bit? Not just “oh he’s just a pale guy!”. That’s why the smile is important I think. You can be creative with his hair/head as well.

Black Mask isn't really Joker-y anymore than any vaguely comedic villain is. He's a very, very specific character type.

I don't really have a preference to speak of. Permawhite worked for Nicholson, and face paint worked for Ledger.

I dunno, I kinda like the "pale guy" look a bit better for reasons unknown. Maybe they'll go in that direction, but they might show that the chemicals messed him up a bit. I guess just having pale skin to me makes him look more inhuman.

Would making his skin look kinda dry and chalky be enough for you guys?

I'd want his hair to look something like this: suicidesquad6thegroup01.jpg
