Agreed on the open shirt Scarface look not working. There's some scenes in the film where I don't like the way he talks, but other scenes I do. Overall he looks good to me. The hair is great and the tattoos don't bother me.

The grillz I can do with or without, if he didn't have them I'd be even happier. But him having them also doesn't bother me much. His look I loved the most was the black tux.

I just don't like the way the grillz make him speak.

Almost any laugh would be better than the one he used. He sounded like a dying donkey.

They also look stupid. Metal mouth. Reminded me of the big mute henchman Jaws from the James Bond movies.

Maybe he didn't have enough time with them to get accustomed to them? My adjustment to them were rather easy in terms of doing pretty much anything from regular speech to everything else but perhaps Leto didn't hone using them 100%.

The Joker look isn't that much of a problem. Its more the style of clothes.

Keep him in the black Tux or classic purple outfit.

Honestly, I think you *could* make "cartel gangster" Joker work, though the tattoos probably should go. Its just. . . they played it too straight. If the Joker is dressing up in a manner that evokes "cartel gangster", there needs to be the elements in appearance and mannerism that say "The Joker is making fun of you". Sort of like how many of his classic appearances are parodies of old school gangster movie looks. His appearance and style should not flatter those he dresses like, but instead be a subtle ( or perhaps not subtle ) way that he shows his contempt for them. When the clown dresses like you, is the clown absurd, or are you?

Yeah overall like I said sometimes in the film I didn't like the way he spoke, other times I actually liked it. I'd have to go back and watch again to see which scenes I didn't mind it.

Without metal teeth he'd basically be Jared Leto with green hair, and they also give him that Conrad Veidt-ish look in some scenes. They're probably the only good idea they had regarding this Joker's aesthetic. I most certainly agree about tattoos, though.

I think Leto surprisingly disappears just with the white makeup and lipstick, something I'd never imagined was really possible without major enhancements.

Although doubtful, I'd imagine if the grills were gone they'd substitute with some sort of prosthetic like for Jack and Heath.

Another thing I still really like about the look of Leto's Joker is that he has no eyebrows. Helps to make his look stand out even more.

Was surprising just how many expressions he could pull off. It just doesn't have that big effect because his dialogue isn't great.

However, there are a bunch of still photos of Leto Joker's making these incredible faces for a guy with no facial enhancements.

Exactly this!! I was SO down with a Joker who was parodying this look, I thought it was really fresh and hilarious. I was hoping for a Joker who had most of his teeth beat out by Batman, and one night in a flash of inspiration Arkham Asylum just pretending to do his parody of a prison gang inmate. My favorite take on the Joker always has a bit of meta-humor to him. But this was just so bad... And he actually has a line "bone him!" in the movie. So completely without humor or class. What a total freaking mess. It's absolutely bizarre how hell bent WB seems on destroying the most bankable DC characters. Fortunately, it looks like Flash, WW, and possibly Aquaman are all getting damn good first-outtings on film. I have my fingers tightly crossed for the WW movie.

I think there's an easy fix for the forehead tat and bling.

He could simply change his fashion sense from film to film. Which is unique and cool at the same time.
