The Joker Thread - Part 1

Does anyone think Will Poulter would be a good joker? I watched him in the movie Detroit, he is really good in it.

Absolutely. He looks freaky and he was actually cast as Pennywise when Cary Fukunaga was about to write/direct IT. But i still want an older Joker.

“Visionary Director Brett Ratner”

Do they just give out that title like candy these days

Anyone can have a vision. Ratner just seems to regularly have crap ones.

They should just give it to the kid from Gotham....go younger and he's already proven better than Jared Leto

Finally saw Blade Runner 2049

I really liked Leto in that.
He can play creepy so well imo

He has so much potential to be an incredible joker.
He just needs the right direction and writing.

He's not talking about Leto. He loved what Leto brought to the movie and has said the opposite abou him in interviews.

Leto is not a bad actor at all, but I see in media that it's become cool to think he is, everyone jumped on the bandwagon after SS.

It’s ridiculous:funny:

It’s just completely ignoring everything else he’s done and focusing entirely on the fact that they didn’t like the Joker in SS.

Any idea who he’s talking about? He was very complimentary of Ryan and Ford in that interview, and he was ecstatic about all the actresses. And it is important to note he ultimately got to where he wanted, it just took more work than usual.

Maybe it was Batista :o

It could have been Batista because of his inexperience. Maybe Denis had to do a crazy amount of takes and that was the problem.

It really is stupid. Leto has been great in many things. Yeah, he sucked as the Joker. So what? Every good actor has at least one bad moment in their career. Granted, Leto kind of gave them fuel to the fire with his antics offset during Suicide Squad, but after that movie, people acted like he's the worst actor on earth or something. Some of the complaints I saw people make about him in Blade Runner were ridiculous.

That's possible, though I thought Bautista was very good in his scene. And his role was so small, it's hard to think that Denis would have had that much trouble with it. Hmmm. Now when I buy the Blue Ray in a couple weeks and rewatch it, I'm going to be trying to figure out which actor he's referring to.

I don't think it was Batista either, because I honestly haven't heard any stories about him being a nightmare to work with. His career has been pretty solid & he's always working so I can't imagine that he's who Denis is talking about.

I could always be wrong, though.

That might be because it took the right amount of takes and proper direction to get to that place where the scene was amazing. Not saying it's definitely him but it could very well be. Unless it's the black actor from Walking Dead? I think that's where he's from right?

Lennie James. Yes, he’s on The Walking Dead but he’s also been in a ton of other stuff. I guess it’s possible he could be referring to him but I doubt it; James is always solid.

What about Edward James Olmos?
Maybe he was really difficult in that short scene.
Maybe that scene is short because he was difficult:funny:

Yup. I am pretty sure he's a massive ********, but a bad actor he is not.

If Gyllenhaal gets cast and Leto continues to play the role, we will get a Batman and Joker couple who look like two sides of the same coin :woot:.
