The Joker Thread - Part 1

True, but considering this will be a rebooted Joker, who says he has to have a white face? They could give him a different look, so he is not in 'whiteface' but still keep key features like green hair and the purple tux.
I hate this idea so much.

and look like a 'golly wog' doll??????

And as weird as it sounds I still don't want it.
I'm with you. That take on the character works best on its own. It is pure greed and commercialism to shoehorn it into what was intended to be a separate and different take on Batman and Gotham. And if Reeves and Tomlin pull this movie off, I feel they deserve a chance to put their own stamp on the Joker.

Aamir Khan is a brilliant actor who would be an incredible Joker. Bloke is super talented

Joker is now officially one of the most prestigious roles in Hollywood.

They ain't gonna give it to a B or C lister, that's for sure.

Now? Dude. Another actor won the Oscar in 2009 for the same character..

So, does anyone else somewhat like the idea of Phoenix just playing a different version of Joker?
I'm not arguing if he'd do it or if it will confuse audiences, or whatever, but if you'd be into it? I would honestly. He's just so ****ing good.

Personally, no. They are a ton of amazing actors out there who should get their chance. I would prefer someone closer in age to Pattinson as well. Also, Arthur is Phoenix's take on the Joker. He helped craft the character and the portrayal. I don't think he can just come up with another version.

I think Joaquin will be approached for Matt Reeves Batman as a different Joker. But I don't think he will end up doing it.

Saw someone tweet this..

1989: Oscar winner plays Joker
2009: Joker player wins Oscar
2016: Oscar winner plays Joker
2020: Joker player wins Oscar

We'll see who's 'hot' two years from now but I'd expect them to go after Leo or Chalamet. No chance WB approve a no name or tv actor, only the best of the best can play the Joker now.

If there's any comic book character that Dicaprio or Daniel Day Lewis (if he comes out of retirement) would play, at this point it's safe to say it's probably Joker.

I have no issue with a Joker that's significantly older than Batman because Joker for the most part isn't meant to be a physical threat to Batman and it's very easy to write him in a way in which he isn't going toe to toe with him but is still dangerous. He uses chemical weapons, schemes, henchmen, etc. That's usually how it is in most stories.

I'm pretty sure there are mob bosses, terrorists and criminals that are 70 years old. Heck, the deadliest person in the world, the US president, is almost 80.
