The Joker Thread - Part 1

At this point in time I kinda prefer him to stay as a man.
Yeah because the Joker IS a man. I'm so tired of this over inclusivity trend. The Joker's a dude. If you wanna cast a woman, fine, go ahead. But much as people scream the house down and make all their bull**** platitudes that are almost solely political, it won't be the Joker

Not to be that guy, but what voices did heath have a knack for?
His voice in Brokeback Mountain is so far removed from his normal speaking voice. Not surprising that he was able to come up with something so unique for Joker too. He disappeared into his roles early on much more than Crispin ever has. I’m a fan of Crispin Glover but we’ve seen what he can do as an actor. With Heath, he hadn’t even hit his peak yet.

We probably need a similar situation for the next Joker.

I brought up Depp, which is similar to Glover. They were both popular choices in the pre TDK days and they’re very predictable. We pretty much know what we’d be getting.

We really need someone fresh. That’s why choices like Ben Foster and Michael Pitt are boring to me. They’ve been around for a while and haven’t broken through to that next level even though they’re solid. I want an actor on the precipice of that next level like Heath was.

Adam Driver feels like the most exciting choice for me.

Crispin Glover’s best performance is definitely in River’s Edge IMO.

I don’t really want him to be Joker. We can do much better. He’d be good as a secondary antagonist, maybe Professor Pyg?

He's incredible in River's Edge. And that performance is precisely why I'd be intrigued to see him as the Joker. His character in River's Edge is actually pretty terrifying in the most unassuming and yet bizarrely well intentioned way. Not unlike Phoenix's Arthur Fleck, come to think of it. Both performances have that same nervous kind of energy that makes the skin crawl.

Contrary to a lot of what's been said in this thread, the Joker isn't really that hard a part to play. It's been considerably elevated from ita source material via performances from three incredible actors (Nicholson, Ledger, Phoenix), but that ain't a necessity.

I didn't say it's what would happen. I'm simply saying that it's not necessarily something that SHOULDN'T happen.

Unpredictability is why Caleb is my guy. I never really know what expression this dude is going to use, if he’s going to start laughing or violently rush towards a character or start getting teary eyed, throw something, or be genuinely warmed hearted. Like seriously. This dude is severely underrated and needs more than the small roles he gets offered. He’s also lanky, the right age, and like I said once before...Pattinson would be excited to roll around in the dirt with this guy.

That movie came out over 30 years ago, and what has he done since that is of any significance?

I think Invader Joker is right, he's more like a D-list actor.

When it comes to Joker, it will either be a megastar like Gyllenhaal or some new comer who the studio thinks will become a breakout star.

I'm very skeptical on WB lowering their standards after Joker has essentially become the most prestigious role in cinematic history.

I don't know, they struck gold, twice with joker... to go for a third win could be seen as... arrogant??

I, as I have said before, would just like a villain that no one likes - it makes your skin crawl.. the things he does, vile. Less is more, we can just see the after match of his gruesome techniques - the damage he does around the city. Seven, Silence of the lambs, Mister Babadook, just nightmarish stuff. I don't want the joker to be iconic, a star in the movie, I just want him to be pure evil.

It could also be a situation where batman has been tracking the joker, then they finally meet and its all played out over one night and boom, gone.. locked away. It could be cat and mouse, with bruce working on it for a whole sequel as a sub plot, that could be cool, like a massive board of clues in the cave, so that, in the third, he gets him and then, it all goes off.

I would prefer its hat way, because, in reality, batman would Never let him get away or not subdue/kill him.

Jake Gyllenhaal would be a huge get. If he can approach it like he did Nightcrawler. Buh bye Mysterio.

Glover would be a great Joker. I love him.

but it’s not happening.

My two picks are two tremendously talented actors who would provide really unique but true to the spirit takes on the Joker:

Lennie James

Aamir Khan

Aaaand look who's back on their usual posts of BS . :whatever:

Johnny Depp Reportedly Eyed To Play The Batman Trilogy’s Joker
I seen that too and we know We Got This Covered is always right lol. I really think the new Joker will be either a unknown or someone nobody thought of.

Why is this site treated with any legitimacy at all? People like Clownfish TV and Geeks + Gamers spead this site's garbage and people buy it.

None of this conflicts with anything I typed out, so I'm unsure as to why you're replying to me specifically. I never argued that he wasn't a d-list actor, and I never claimed he'd done anything especially memorable in the last X amount of years.

But then neither had Michael Keaton when he got nominated for Birdman. People can surprise you.

Glover is to Joker what Zane is to Luthor. That suggestion that never really goes away despite their career being dead.
Honestly I think both Zane and Glover would be great as Lex and Joker. Predictable isn’t always bad.

Pre BvS, I wanted Hamm and Dafoe as Batman and Joker. We know pretty much what we’d be getting, but those two would’ve been a 1:1 adaptation of the comics.

We need a Joker who's not afraid to take on the IRS.

Sometimes actors can be perfect for only one role... Zane to me, and a lot of others, would be perfect as Luthor.

With a decent script, he would be a great lex, when he acts a certain way, he's brilliant at it - only when he tries other things does it flop. He has what it takes to be Luthor, in my mind.

Regarding the joker, i didn't see Ledger, I didn't see Nicholson (through a kids eyes I guess) - Leto.. I struggled with it, I just saw a punk.

So for me, the actor when he loses himself to the role and I no longer see the actor, that's when it works - Depp, it's Depp now, it wouldn't work... just like some saying Dicaprio, it wouldn't work.
