I'm not sure why you need a real fighter in the role of a superpowered woman.

Wonder Woman isn't strong because she trained MMA, she's strong because she's blessed by the Gods.

All her 'strength' would come from her superpowers, not her muscles. The impact of WW's fighting will be done in special effects anyways, not from the actress's real fighting abilities, like in Haywire.

What did Tyler Mane add to Sabertooth when Sabertooth's strength was portrayed through special effects anyways?

Carano's skill seems more suited for a character who doesn't have superpowers but still kicks ass.

(Though I guess by my argument Superman could be some 300 lbs fat guy, since his powers are inborn)

she's an amazon warrior princess. being a warrior of any kind takes skill.

I'm not saying that the role is her and blunt can go **** off somewhere. i personally want to see how much she has progressed as an actor with these next couple of films she's got coming out before we write her off completely.

and if any wrestler in particular actually made the transition, and made it successfully, why would that sort of thing be a problem?

plenty of people have wanted the rock to play black adam.

well, he produced mos. if there's any truth to those machinations some of us seem to have regarding cavill and carano meeting and the supposed wondy cameo in mos, wouldn't he have had a say in that?

That's exactly what I said, Rev. Since Nolan was producing, I don't think he'd pick her if she isn't good enough. So, in that case, I don't think there is any truth to those rumours.

And if she did make it through Nolan's screen test and is indeed playing WW, Nolan and the others must have seen some sort of potential in her!

As I mentioned, Rev, I am still very open to her playing WW if she can prove that she is getting better as an actor over the course of the next couple of films.

I don't really think she was meant to look convincing, Rev. She was playing a single mother with people with guns popping up at her front door.

I want an actress who has already proven herself on film, not a television actress like Midnight Black always suggests. I respect your thinking outside of the box, but I dont have faith in many of your casting choices when you list them.

A proven actress like Blunt has my vote

What television actresses do I always suggest? I like to think I make suggestions all across the board, but from film actors/actresses more so.

Anywho....going by the logic of Heath not really looking like the joker in many people's eyes or hardy not looking like Bane. I guess Blunt or any actress really has a chance to play Wondy given the miracles of movie magic and camera angles. Heck probably best if we start looking at blondes and redheads too.

I know some ppl must find it annoying when me or others post Gosling as the Flash but im gonna lose it if I see another pic of Kate Beckinsale as WW. Jesus Christ! She's 40 for one, older than Bale who is supposed to be the vet here. Do you want an actress who is in her mid 40s doing a Wonder Woman movie that MAY call for an origin story?? Most importantly she's an average actress who's done nothing but bad movies her whole career. At least Gosling is young enough and a good actor for the role.

I think im going to watch Haywire since I don't remember it that well (only seen chunks of it). I remember just thinking Carano was only a fighter but ill have an open mind this time. Is she doing any more movies this year?? Maybe her acting has improved...

Only keeping an open mind with her because I find it weird that she's with Cavill lately, around the time of MOS dropping. Could be coincidence.

If Snyder ends up directing,you should be looking at all the actresses he's worked with in the past.I'm hearing Blunt,Arteton,Carano..? I think Snyder would go with a actress from one of his previous movies,like allot of directors do such as Nolan.

Well, I don't see how the point wasn't made. You did imply we were only looking at brunettes when we are quite clearly, NOT!

I did highlight that, irrespective of hair-color, the actress playing WW should be of some pedigree- I don't want Oscar good- but she shouldn't be a liability on screen!

I don't think Snyder has particularly shown that trait except maybe in the case of Carla Gugino who has aged out for Wonder Woman. And whoever Nolan has worked with previously is either attached already to TDK or Marvel (Hugh Jackman, Guy Pearce, Ellen Page).

Abbie Cornish is by far the most viable candidate from Snyder's list of past actresses.

I was addressing the question of why a wrestler getting a role is an issue, which was asked, if you read the post.
