Justice League The Justice League Casting Thread - Part 5

I just read the last four pages of this thread to see how this all began....man you guys are crazy lol. I step away for one day and all h*ll brakes loose.

Anywho, the only character I could see Paul Walker playing is the Flash. Sorry, it's true. This is my reasoning...1) He looks like Barry Allen 2) He does have a fan base 3) He is actually a good actor when given good material 4) Into the Blue and Running Scared were good films, especially the latter 5) IMO he is an actor that should not be labeled one dimensional or bad simply because he plays a certain character in a successful franchise 6) Lets be honest, depending on the direction they take the Flash I doubt it will be anything like the TDK trilogy, thus his acting will more than likely suit the film and the role 7) Gosling and Cooper have been in films where "superb" acting was not needed and so oscar winning performances even for oscar nominees isn't needed all the time 8) Walker will not be out of his league in an ensemble cast given the direction and story of the film.

Now with that said I do not see Walker as Aquaman at all....not to say he couldn't play Arthur Curry depending on how he is portrayed, but I've always pictured Aquaman as regal royalty played by an european or british actor. My pick for Aquaman is nikolaj coster-waldau.

Now for some reason after seeing trailers for Gosling's new film I am interested in seeing more of his abilities...and might be coming around to him playing Flash....might be lol!

I don't see a Flash trilogy going the route of TDK as far as tone, to me it would make sense to stay closer to the tone of a marvel film. Thus, an oscar winning performance isn't necessarily needed. Gyllenhaal I don't see as Flash at all. In fact I wouldn't mind not seeing him in a superhero or action film for a while. He just comes off as goofy to me and non masculine. he's a good actor and I like him, he just doesn't scream superhero to me. My opinion that's all.

Also, I could see Cooper playing GL, but honestly more so him playing Barry Allen. I think his personality is closer to Barry's than Hal's and if you throw some blonde in his hair I think he would fit the bill. GL has always been Josh Duhammel IMO...the dude just screams GL and honestly if they are going the ensemble route he would fit in perfectly...plus he could carry a solo film. Dude was good in Vegas and other films Ive seen him in.

As far as Gosling and Cooper being the 2 greatest actors or biggest draws today....not at all. They are 2 OF the greatest actors and biggest draws currently, but not THE biggest. They are good actors don't get me wrong, but I've studied acting, hollywood, etc. long enough to know that being crowned the sexiest man or being hot right now is all irrelevant to the grand scheme of things....and all that stuff comes and goes. Not saying they are going anywhere soon, but by the time this film gets the green-light everyone might be shouting some other actors' names as the "best" choices.

p.s.....someone mentioned brad pitt as aquaman awhile ago...you know what I wouldn't mind seeing this as a bit part or cameo. Pitt really playing up the royalty part and I'm better than though, but in a slightly funny way could add some levity to the film where the rest of the JL heroes are reluctant to work with Aquaman. It could be quite funny.

Anywho, guys keep it civil and have fun lol.

Even if the Justice League movie wasn't shaky right now (which according to most recent reports it is), WB wouldn't want to blow the budget by casting big names and/or 'A-Listers' for all the parts.

Sure they might want a big name for Batman and maybe even Wonder Woman, but for Green Lantern, Flash and Martian Manhunter they would definitely want to go to the Mike Vogels, Matt Bomers, Scott Porters and Joshua Jacksons of showbiz.

and that would be a mistake for the flash and gl. batman and superman can sell themselves.

GL, FLash, and especially Aquaman, need actors who GA's love, to get them on board.

Batman and Supes just need good actors.

The Rock - GL for the men, Ryan Gosling - The Flash for the ladies, Robert Pattinson - Aquaman for the little girls.

The Rock - GL for the men, Ryan Gosling - The Flash for the ladies, Robert Pattinson - Aquaman for the little girls.
I think Cooper as GL would target the ladies just like Reynolds, Rock would target both men and women equally. Gosling, same. Dwayne and Gosling have done their share of bad-ass work.

What are you guys talking about??? If you get good actors that can do their jobs the GA will follow suit. The Avengers had eye candy but the actors did their jobs and that's what really mattered.

I've never heard any woman (maybe cause I'm black, though have a pretty mixed friend based [white, black, asian, latino, etc.]) say that they wanted to see a movie because Gosling or Cooper are in it. Now don't get me wrong, I know the two were voted sexiest man...and ladies love Gosling...but GL and Flash don't need these two simply to draw in the female audience...that's ludicrous.

Women will come with their significant others, if they aren't fans already.

Barry Allen and Hal Jordan bromance :yay::cwink:

This is awesome.

These two are PERFECT for Barry Allen and Hal Jordan! I can definitely see Cooper working as Hal.

And everyone - ya'll know Ryan Gosling is my number one pick for The Flash/Barry Allen, and the fan favorite as well. He is a terrific actor and I have wanted him for this role since I watched him in Fracture (where he even does some forensics/detective work to convict Anthony Hopkins' character of brutally murdering his wife, even sports a bow tie in some scenes, and Zoe Kazan who was cast as Iris West in the Justice League Mortal film from '09 plays a coworker of his! There's some trivia for you :) ). (Gosling also gives a good performance in Lars and the Real Girl, for anyone who wants to check it out)

The guys working on the current Flash comic book in the New 52 both see Ryan Gosling as The Flash. I know this because I am personally friends with Brian Buccellato, who writes The Flash, on facebook, and have asked him myself who he would cast as Barry Allen/The Flash for the live action Flash movie. We've talked about it at least twice.

I just hope he's on WB's radar for the part because he could really do the role justice. I think with the right talent involved he would get behind it, at least just for Justice League since he enjoys playing "supporting" characters. I really think he'd do well as a leading man with The Flash feature though too.

Gosling is a good actor and has the right amount of box office clout for the part. With the right team behind it and if it does well I can see it making him a superstar, even though I can't seem to go a day without seeing his name mentioned somewhere as it is - sure, there are other people who would probably do well in the role, but Ryan Gosling is at the very very top of that list for me, hands down.

well thats also a bonus, the guys writing the book supports Gosling for the role, forget what were arguing about, thats one of the best recommendations you can get.

I've liked Gosling since his Breaker High days (god I feel old about that one lol), he's get everything thats needed for Flash, my personal opinion though, I dont want him as Flash, but if he gets the part I'm sure he will do fine and bring justice to it :)

Is it just me, or does Gosling look like Barry here too?

It's in the eyes I think. And any Flash fan worth his salt knows the significance of Flash's eyes, Barry Allen always had bold blue ones that complimented the red & gold color scheme of his suit.

Also, if any of you guys get a chance, check out that pic of Flash they released from the animated Flashpoint feature yesterday and tell me the face/head shape doesn't remind you of Gosling's. :)

very similar :) maybe Alex Ross pictured Gosling when making that........10 years before Gosling became really popular lol

Here’s a question I’m sure a lot of fans want an answer to. When are you going to do a superhero movie?
Ryan Gosling: Well, they’re all taken.
Not true. Justice League is coming out in 2015. Superman and Batman are taken. But The Flash and maybe even Green Lantern are up for grabs.
Ryan Gosling: Well Ryan Reynolds is Green Lantern. I can get Flash basically.
So would you ever do one though?
Ryan Gosling: Here’s the thing. Drive was my attempt at the superhero movie. I had a costume and everything. The scorpion jacket. It was like my cape. It was like the idea of a guy that had seen too many superhero movies and then decided that he was going to make himself one.

That's actually JG Jones art there for Final Crisis #2....I've met him at a con before, he did a free Flash sketch for me, and he's a very kind man and down to earth and personable - not to mention one of the most talented in the industry. :)

I don't take that as a "no" so much as him just acknowledging that there's a lot of crap out there ("so many of these movies out there, who is there left to do?") and without the right stuff behind it you don't want to get involved - I think he's just giving a safe answer keeping in mind GL and Drive. I probably would have said the same if I were in his shoes ya know. You don't want to play some bottom-of-the-barrel hero, not everything will turn out like Iron Man (although he's had a loyal following for years, no more so than The Flash though, IMO, I think Iron Man and The Flash are in about the same place right now as far as where Iron Man was before the 2008 movie).

Also, this...

"...It was like the idea of a guy that had seen too many superhero movies and then decided that he was going to make himself one."

Kinda sounds like Barry Allen in a way haha. :D But Ryan or WB, if you're reading this, it's not any indication that the characters or films are anything alike at all, that's just a tiny idiosyncrasy of The Flash character that he was a comic book fan. I always saw Barry Allen as the "Kick-Ass" of the Silver Age because of that. :)

i didn't take it that way either. i don't think he'd be against starring in one so long as the people behind it know what they're doing.

now that cooper's usurped pine as hal for me, what about pine for bruce? :awesome:

Madden's my Bruce

As long as he doesn't share a screen with Cavill :o

really.......damn, looks like something Alex Ross would have done lol, more comicy and less water paint now that I look at it again but still, pretty damn good :)

Henry Cavill's twin lol

Wow holy ****. He's like a weird midget Henry Cavill...I see how people say he looks like him but at the same time he doesn't look like him at all to me. That's really really freaky. Lol.
