Hahahaha, I say "take cover child" a lot randomly to my nephews. XD

I got why she said it and it was awesome. i cheered when I first saw it. Just making a joke.

Honestly, this and Bad LT are my two favourite movies of the last two years.

Nothing from last year even comes close to this film IMO. Apart from Bad LT :D

I think this movie is going to be endlessly quotable and I am sure we are gonna see a saying or two on some T-shirts.

Oh man, "Take cover child" is probably my favorite movie quote of all time.

"Play times over"

"I never play"

"O RLY?"

:awesome:

Some of the stuff Mark Strong came out with was gold too.

I think my favorite quotes are "Show's over mother*******!" and "Hit-Girl, back to headquarters!"

haha yea that was classic. Pure Adam West style.

"We... like you, but... we don't... trust, you"

"A bazooka?..................okay." ┐(´ー`)┌

Ok, so I realize I may be in the minority here, but I've decided I definitely want a sequel. And to those who say, "we've seen all there is to see, the story is complete," I say, nonsense! Dave himself said said at the end that he "opened the door" to a world he'd only dreamed about. I want to walk through that door, because there's so much I want to see now that we didn't even get a glimpse of in this one (SPOILER WARNING, obviously):

1.) The other amateur heroes he "inspired." C'mon, how can that not be fun? I want to see someone other than the guy with the mental health problems we met in the beginning, and what kind of "heroic acts" they are performing. Unleash the psychos.

2.) Hit-Girl's attempt at normalcy. With Chloe's age, they'd probably have to set a sequel about 2 years after this one, which means Hit-Girl would be approaching the most awkward social stage of her life (I'm a girl, trust me, I know), while still new to the concept of even HAVING a social life. How would this girl who could massacre 20 gangsters at a time handle the vicious shark pool that is Teen Girl World? How would she handle her 1st crush (who, let's be honest, would probably treat her like crap/break her heart)? Certainly a little differently than a typical girl, and that could be both hilarious and sad. Plus, it would be nice to see a little role-reversal with Dave, since "normalcy" is more his area of expertise, so he would get a chance to assume the "mentor" role on that front. Most importantly, how would her extremely traumatic youth (including the events of this movie) start to catch up with her? Because let's face it, psychologically, she's messed up for life. Marcus was right - she WAS brainwashed. What happens after the source of that is gone? The de-programming and PTSD would definitely be an issue, and a potentially fascinating one. Not that they have to delve too deeply into it, but they should at least touch on it like they touched on the whole child abuse issue in this one. And OF COURSE, what will pull her back into the vigilante game? She needs to come into her own, with her own drive, free of her father's obsession. ([blackout]Red Mist[/blackout] will likely help out with that one.)

Frankly, any story arc for her as this trained killer attempting to be a normal girl while facing all the typical growing pains would be rife with comedic and tragic potential. She's just an awesome character that way. And she can still have plenty of badass fights in the mean time. Which brings me to....

3.) Hit-Girl needs to train Kick-Ass. It's just gotta happen. That would be SO fun to watch, and necessary from a character perspective for KA to stay in the game.

4.) And finally, I really want to see what [blackout]Red Mist[/blackout] would be like as a villain. I mean, everyone assumes he'd be kind of a joke, but with two years to build up and plan his revenge, with his resources and drive, he could be really formidable. But he'd still be funny too, cuz ya know, he still talks like that...I just keep picturing a darker version of Syndrome from The Incredibles for some reason, lol. But seriously, I wanna see these "superheroes" fight a "supervillain" in this universe.

So yeah, I realize the possibility of a sequel seems a bit unlikely now, but oh well. I still want one. And for the record, someone a few pages back said they thought Aaron Johnson wouldn't want to do one, but according to this interview from the Chicago premiere, that's not true:

And LOL at it not even occurring to that reporter that a History of Violence reference just might go over-the-head of a 13-year-old girl.

And WOW, this post ended up a lot longer than I had planned.

so I'm not the only one who posted the same thing about 8 times in a thread due to lag :hehe:

back to the movie :
Am I the only one who noticed the harvey dent theme from TDK when BD says "you know I'm not going to stop, not til d'amico and his whole damn operation, are burnt to ashes"

There was a video on youtube where Nic Cage said that Mindy has sort of a "crush" on Kick-Ass. So who knows where that would lead.

besides somewhere creepy as hell?

Haha, I didn't see that interview, but I actually picked up on that during the movie. But my interpretation was that she initially had a crush on him, only to have it dissolve as she got to know him. Like, at first she was enamored by this boy who was seemingly like her (a first, not to mention probably the 1st contact with anyone close to her age) - and you can see that in their first encounter in the crack-den: she's obviously showing off, trying to impress him. Not to mention when she blows a kiss at him before climbing out the window (I loved AJ's delayed creeped-out reaction to that, too). But once she realizes how little he really is like them (and what a general dweeb he is, lol), and after the whole debacle with [blackout]Big Daddy's death, which she does blame him for[/blackout], there's no trace of the crush anymore. So I think she's over it, and it seemed to be more of a crush on the idea of Kick-Ass to begin with, rather than on the actual guy.

That said, it's kind of normal for an 11-year-old girl to crush on a teenage boy. Typically, a schoolgirl crush IS on an older boy. It's only the opposite that would be creepy. Just sayin'. :woot:

I missed those signs now that you mention it haha.. You have a point there. It would be interesting to see how they are as a team later on.

Aha, thanks. He actually makes it sound like a major character point (for both him and Mindy) - kinda makes me wonder if it wasn't elaborated on in one of the 3 deleted Big Daddy/Hit-Girl scenes Vaughn mentioned.

You just made me realize that's a major element I left off my list that I'd want to see in the sequel - the Dave/Mindy dynamic. We saw a Kick-Ass/Hit-Girl dynamic as colleagues, but since she didn't reveal her alter ego to him 'till the end, we never saw what they'd be like in "real life," as the ending just suggested they were gonna keep some kind of friendship going.

Can anyone provide a transcript of
Big Daddy's lines just before his death, when he was shouting while hit-girl was taking out the henchmen.
I didn't catch that part.
