It does seem like a super rush job but with Singer producing...i'm cautiously optimistic that it'll turn out much better than X3 and to an Wolverine. Two films that I thought were, simply, 'okay'.

it's X3 all over again, that's all you need to know to reach the conclusion that it should be avoided at all costs.

The script is already written and is getting rewrites. Most big films like this shoot around the same time. Although the problem will be casting which will take a number of months. So by the time that happens, it could be by the end of the year. Which yeah, you're right, is too short.

Like I said, the only difference is that Singer, the guy who made the only above average X-films is behind the story and casting.

There was a report that he was also looking for his 'Cyclops' and other X-men during his casting process for that Jack and the Beanstalk movie he's doing.

With Singer and Vaughn, First Class is in decent hands, that's all i'm saying.

but it's FOX and it's being rushed, I don't think the greatest director in the world can rush a good film

C'mon, a perfectly good kick-ass comic/film discussion is getting de-railed here, take the x-talk to the x-boards.

:ninja:

Well to be honest...as much as I love the film...

I'm kinda running out of things to talk about, haha.

:hehe:

well what about the fact that a score release is canned?

i don't recall how much of an original score there was, was there much there to listen to on an album? Because you could still buy all the pop songs used for the flick, like the banana splits cover and 'crazy'. i heard they had to cut the scene listening to danny elfman's batman in the mistmobile due to not getting permission.

i wish you could find some bands you could get into man, i know you love your s/tracks, but you listen to them all the time you're gonna end up charging out there with a dustbin lid and a big wooden spoon to kick some ass yourself.
i do own a fair amount of s/tracks myself, i mean, thats what is wondering, if it would have been like the 'from dusk til dawn' s/track, very little original s/track music, and mostly songs from bands.
but i am sorry youre not getting the opportunity to buy it, i know you are a connisuer of the sh s/tracks.

edit: btw i am just yanking your chain a little because i can empathise as i used to have very similar leanings back when i was first getting into music in my teenage years, i listened to a lot of instrumental music, and was especially interested in cool, exciting s/track music. but i eventually found my way into some bands that i got the same kind of cool kicks from.
i just don't like the idea of you having to wait ages for a certain movie to come out so you can purchase some music to get your kicks to, and then be disapointed if it's not released.
because you are obviously passoinate about your music, and jonesing for some new tunes to listen to, i just think there must be some great bands out there you have not heard that you would love to get ahold of just as much as the ka s/track.
one band i will recommend to you , who i get my s/track/cool instrumental type kicks from these days is the french duo 'Air' , you have probably heard of them, all their albums are great, although i have not bought their latest yet, waiting til it goes down in price a bit.
anyway, had to say.

1. there was gonna be 41 tracks or so on the score CD. Maybe like a 65 minute runtime or so.

2. WHATCHUTRYINASAY?!?!?! :cmad:

Nah, I do like some bands other than orchestral type music (suicidal tendencies, the crystal method, the blackouts, I LOVE the VA soundtrack to kick-ass. I could name a bunch more that I love but I'd be here all day:hehe:) I just prefer orchestral more. But I'll check out ''Air" :cwink:

ok man, cool, i think you will get a big kick out of 'air', probably best to start with their first album 'moon safari', that one was very popular and made their name.
btw, i just had that image of a guy grabbing one of those big ornamental wooden spoons from the kitchen wall, along with a metal bin lid, and going out to fight crime, so i had to get that image out there, i think i was kind of talking about myself as much as anyone else, lol. that's the kind of kick these s/tracks can give you, there should be a health warning on the cover, tipper gore should be looking into that one for the parental advisory stickers, 'WARNING: This s/track may make your kid think he/she is a superhero. Keep all large wooden spoons out of reach, and dustbin lids firmly attached. DO NOT mix with the reading of comicbooks.':hehe:

:funny:

best parental advisory warning ever.

will do though, ;) gotta be careful though, just removed all the viruses do to...downloading music :o

I think the last album I actually bought was the TDK score. I thought that 41 track Kick-Ass album was gonna have the entire score + the licensed music. I planned on getting that bad boy.

Exactly, there is too much left for them to do in the short span of time they have. I don't feel like a quality X-Men film will be made under these conditions. You could get Steven Speilberg for this, and it would still suck under these circumstances.

I'd rather not see Vaughn put his name on this. It is a super rush job.

i bet they would have had bits of dialogue interspread between tracks as well, i love that on s/track albums, like 'ghost dog' and the tarantino ones.

but you never know, many people think this will really take off when it hits dvd/blu-ray, as the kids will not be turned away by ushers, so they may be waiting to see how that pans out before commiting to a s/track album.

yeah well, you guys seem to be avoiding the x-boards like the damn plague for this de-railing off-topic discussion, so at least you are getting some practise in.

all your tried and tested arguments and moans are getting a thorough airing over there.

edit: kick-ass has only one thread and x-men has it's own section, there's no excuse for this bs, and it's not like anyone over here has said anything new that has anything to do with vaguhnn's work on kick-ass having a bearing on the x-men news, it's just the same old 'fox sucks' posts.

Amen brother! They're only making this to retain the rights. I bet Cyclop's flies or can turn invisable in this one, and Beast can increase his mass to like King Kong size.

B*tch much Dave? Here comes a suspension.

if i've done anything you think that's out of order feel free to report me, but everything i said was true, a perfectly good discussion has been de-railed by x-men talk.

normally i would not have 'b*tched', as you put it, but kick-ass has only the one thread, and this 'fox sucks, the xmen franchise is ruined' thing usually just goes on and on, as it has done here, carried on since yesterday. this is ridiculous when the xmen has a large section with more than one thread dealing with this subject.

Yea enough with the X-Men talk... I'm not even interested in First Class anyway, even if it is done by Vaughn.

For me, the X-Men have been dead for ages, and i'm talking comics here. The last time i enjoyed an X-Book was probably waaaaay back on Whedon's run. Nowadays it's all a convoluted bunch of crap.

I listened to the KA soundtrack this week. I usually hate VA albums (unless they're playlists made by people who know what they're doing), especially if they're movie tie-ins.

But it was pretty solid work. Good job. :up

My favorite tracks are the ones used for comic relief in the film and really add to the film and are fun listens:

Banana Splits
Stand Up
For a Few Dollars More Morricone music
Elvis's hopelessly cheesy 'An American Trilogy.'

But among the more pop-ish tracks I enjoyed:

Kick-Ass
Make Me Wanna Die
Bad Reputation
and...Starry Eyed (sue me :o )

Surprisingly solid VA album! Good job.

Hell no, I was joking about my use of the B word. I was only teasing you, but you are correct, this should be Kick @ss discussion.

that's cool man, y'know how it is over the net you can't tell a person's tone and whatnot. btw i like your avvi, i never saw that cartoon underdog, they never showed it over here to my knowledge. we got frickin' lassie and the littlest hobo, lol, but we did get hong kong phooey, so there was one dog in costume on our screens at least.

ok, i am de-railing this now, lol.
