just got done watching the documentary. pure awesome

"If some kid goes out in a pipe covered in duct tape and tries to smack a couple of muggers around...I hope he doesn't get hurt too bad"

:awesome:

How can you say that without seeing the other two? LOL

This is my 2nd favorite. Toy Story is number 1 and Inception, 3.

Pixar movies are fun/good, but they don't do it for me like Kick-Ass, Dark Knight and let's say Independence Day. Inception which I'm sure is a good movie overall, just isn't my cup of tea. I'll watch it but it's not something that normally I will rush out and buy first day, nor see in theater first weekend.

Well then, with your low expectations, I'd say the chance of you loving both films is even greater.

The same way you can name your top 3 without having seen the other 99% of the movies that came out this year. Anyways you have a solid top 3. Kick-Ass has the most replay value for me though. It is not the most polshed film but it is such a great little revenge flick I could watch it every weekend. I mean I could watch it all the time with new people just to see their freakin reactions. This film catches you off guard.

Erm, if I see another movie that I love I will adjust my list accordingly. :p
DarbyD53 made it seem like his list would remain solid even after seeing other films.

Unless he isn't planning to see the other two. I went to see Inception after the hype and really enjoyed it. I have to be really in the mood to see a film like Toy Story but I heard good things about it.

Well I just know how much I liked Kick-Ass. There is only 8 movies I've watched in my life that i like more than Kick-Ass.

Toy Story 1 and 2 are both fun watches, but only one would make my Top 100, so I just don't see how 3 could bump Kick-Ass off 9th place.

With Inception, who knows it may just blow my mind, but chances are it will be a solid movie to me, but not the type of movie that will break into my Top 10. I hope i'm wrong. Nothing is better than being surprised by how great a movie is. I may find out this weekend. I got two movie passed from Norton, so I might check out TS3 and Inception.

Inception is a great movie. It's hard to tell that from the poster or trailer just like Kick-Ass. To be honest it feels more polished than Kick-Ass but I could watch Kick-Ass a lot more cause it's just more fun and has more replay value. They really are apples and oranges but the final act of Kick-Ass is just too much fun when Hit-girl goes on her killing spree. Kick-Ass is one of the best revenge flicks of all time. Can't wait for the sequel.

Just wanted to know what he typed.

For those lame brains who thinks it's "Kryptic Light" Official subtitles. :awesome:

Bought the blu-ray and watched the documentary (brilliantly done and entirely satisfying) of the making-of, as well as the making of the comic and the commentary over three days. It was all great stuff. Though I must admit having read the book now...I don't think the book is very good. Great art, bleak, dreary and unrelenting in a bad way (think like a 5 hour funeral march). I thoroughly enjoyed and preferred the film.

But yes it is a great film and is one of my tops of the year so far...

1. Inception
2. Kick-Ass
3. Shutter Island
4. Toy Story 3
5. Get him to the Greek

...But, there are a lot of great films out that I haven't seen. I for one know I need to see The Kids are All Right soon as it looks great. As does The Killer Inside Me, The Town, Countdown to Zero and The Social Network. There is more I'm sure to come from the Cannes world that will be worth seeing as well.

What I like about this movie is how serious it occasionally gets. I think the part where he fights that gang and stands up for that guy is great, as is the music. And when
Big Daddy and Kick-Ass are getting beaten, and some of the peoples' reactions watching are saddening, as is the music again. Watching them get hit was no joke to me. I also really like when Hit-Girl gets home and they show the hot chocolate sitting there from earlier.

I expected a goofy action movie with hilarious parts and nice fight scenes. I was caught off guard by scenes like what I mentioned above. Because of things like that, this makes the movie one of my favorites ever.

I couldn't agree more. I know people who sobbed during that scene.

It was ruined a little by that little pop-culture joke kick-ass thought to himself

Listening to Vaughn last night was really entertaining and fun. After listening to him I'm actually starting to look forward to X-Men First Class. Somethings that stood out for me were:

He said when the director cut came out, then stopped and corrected himself and said when the longer, make more money version comes out. I thought that was funny.

I liked how it was Cage who just decided to dtry the Adam West voice. One of the editors told them they'd have to reshoot the whole scene cause Cage messed it up with that voice.

I didn't know he has such a hot wife. Very nice.

After watching Kick-Ass the first time in the theater I didn't feel the urge or need for a part two. I was happy with what we got to see, but now I really want a part two. Will be interesting to see how it does at the theater.

The thought of this movie in PG13 makes baby Dolphins cry blood. Glad he did it on his own.

I still don't need a sequel. If it never happens, it wouldn't bother me.

Could someone post a screencap of when Hit-Girl says "sleep tight" or something like that, after Big Daddy got burned? That's such a great moment, and I wanted to try drawing it. Highest res please, if possible.

You should buy the movie. It's a whole lot of fun to play when people are over. Also there's a feature length documentary on the disc. Plus the bonus view mode feels like another feature length documentary. So you get 2 documentaries that are almost 2 hours.

Anyone notice the last bit of narration by Aaron Johnson, the first time he said "world", he pronounced it "welled"? :P

I want to see it if it turns out the way Millar described the 2nd series.

With Red Mist pretty much being lazy, getting high all the time and running the show almost like a 'boss' letting everyone else do the work, he hires a young, female Russian assassin to locate and take out Hit-Girl all the while Mindy struggles with the adjustment to a domesticated existence, essentially fighting her 'true' nature as a vigilante.

Meanwhile other Supervillains show up, the police get involved and its all just a cluster**** of a mess with Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl in the middle.

THAT is a sequel i'd want to see.

I watched the commentary last night. Very good (though I wish some actors were there too).

It's nice to see that the director paid so close attention to music.

Dispite the subtitles, i'm still pretty sure it's KRYPTON-LIGHT. Because there actually is a Krypton light...Kryptonite makes no sense.
