The Last of Us

I'm 7 hours into it. I like it. I don't love it.

Me too. I only played it earlier this year for the first time, and I DID enjoy it as a game, for sure, but relative to how much praise I had heard beforehand I felt like I was missing something. I also didn't find myself really connecting to any of the characters on an emotional level like so many other people claim to have. In fact most struck me as just "types." Oh well. Still worth playing.

I came to it skeptical as well. It looked like your general zombie apocalypse thing. Then it surprised me by killing Joel's daughter. Then it surprised me again by jumping ahead 20 years. It helped that some of this reminded me of an adult version of Jak II...

yeah, the characters are well written, but I can't say I'm attached to them. Also, most of the situations are basically what you will find in any zombie movie. I mean, as soon as we met Henry and his brother, I knew how it would end for instance.

By the end I was attached to Ellie. I wouldn't mind the sequel having a Ellie in her 20s as the main lead.

I will tell you how I feel after I have finished the game. My opinion may change.

My opinion didn't change afer I finished the game. I can't say I loved it.

I finished the game today and it was awesome. One of the best games I have played in a long time. I liked the story and the characters were great. The graphics were really amazing on PS4 and I liked how the game ran 60fps. The game was beautiful to look at and it was interesting to explore the post-apocalyptic world. The only bad thing was that when you think about it the gameplay was kind of repetitive but it was fun.

I've replayed this game a fair amount, and I got rather annoyed with the parts where we have to help Ellie across water.

LOL...I wish they had given her a phobia to water to explain why Joel never taught her how to swim

No need for a phobia. Who is to say he never tried to teach her? There's plenty in between we didn't see. Some people just can't swim even if you try to teach them. My dad can't swim at all.

Im pretty sure he's not living every day stradding the line between life and death bc he's being chased by killers and zombie like creatures. In the world they live in, swimming is an invaluable skill. The fact that she never learned to swim nearly resulted in hers and Joel's deaths numerous times. Over the course of that year, it would have made sense to see some progression with her swimming at the end. Instead she never did and it felt more like a gameplay mechanic. A phobia would have explained things and could have shed more light into her backstory

she could drive a car, but she couldn't swim lol. i suppose when it comes down to it it is simpler to learn to drive a vehicle than it is to develop the skills of getting through water.

anyways, i think e3 2017, we'll hear about tlou2.

They could have called this game post apocalyptic zombie game 101. The gameplay was nothing special, and was really repetitive. The story was okay. Dialogues were well written, but the characters weren't that interesting. I've been really disappointed by this game.

a zombie 101 game would've employ lots of sneaking passed. normally zombies aren't totally blind and can tell when flesh is moving in front of them.

I'd hate to see you review a bad game.

Good or bad is subjective though.
yeah but sometimes there's a general consensus on certain things. One being that tlou is one of the greatest games of all time. A lot of people may call it overrated, but damn near every critically acclaimed product have naysayers behind it, which is fair enough. Aside from their technical achievements and commendable commercial successes, I think both gta5 and avatar are vastly overrated.

Story was simple, characters were interesting, dialogues were very well written, music, art, sound design, graphics everything was really great in this game...but I felt the gameplay to be really repetitive.

After several months...I tried it again just to see if I would like it or not on the second playthrough and man, it felt so addictive that I completed it twice within a month! I quickly realized it was in fact the gameplay that was the real beauty of this game! It is one of the main reasons why I bought a PS4. Just to play this goddamn game again!

It felt a bit overrated at first, but I really liked it when I played it for the second time. It's one of the best, if not the best game I've ever played! Along with Red Dead Redemption. And yes, it has a lot of potential to explore. Would love to see another game set in that world. :)

there'll probably be a sequel a couple of years after the release of Uc4 :)

I won't say it's overrated. I also don't care for the consensus. The only tjing that matters is what i think about the game. And i think it's well made, but it's nothing soecial. The gameplay us good but not great and is repetitive, and the story is the same story you see in almost every single zimbie story. The characters are nothing special to me.

whether or not you care about the consensus does not take away from the fact that it exists and is of critical acclaim. Also, if you say it's not overrated then you believe that it deserved all the hype and praise it got?
