The Dark Knight The many faces of the Joker. Which is the "real" one?

he has to be perma bleached, in the leaked pics he is in the police station still with white skin. yeah its smudged but still, do you seriously think that the police wouldnt clean his face off? heres a guy dressed like a clown and they decide they wont clean him up to try to identify his face. he is white and the skin tone is fake, he wears the skin tone in the knife photo because he is holding rachael hostage and still wants the alibi to be faking the face

They could have hauled him into interrogation if Joker put a bomb somewhere in Gotham and they need to find out where he is.

I will have a field day if the "realism supporters" back that idea up, if it comes to fruition. :o

I'm one of those so-called "realism supporters" and I don't think that's a bad idea at all. I think make-up is still the most likely, but I'd love to see him be perma-white somehow and that'd be a good way to do it if need be.

seriously, mods help out here, why are these pics banned? by now, esp after the WSS pic, these should be 'legal'... they need to be posted and discusses further, esp for those who havent seen em.

Ive answered this a few times, the pics are still banned here the last time i checked with Mirko. As for the one in this thread, if it's from an article sHH linked to then it is fine.

n00b, didn't you know that Heath isn't the REAL Joker?

In one of Nolan's epic plot twists, it is later revealed that the Heath-Joker is just one big Joker set-up by the REAL Joker in order to get his sick kicks, and so, at the end of the movie, we are left with a cliffhanger, as Batman prepares to combat the REAL Joker.

Which turns out to be Liam Neeson!!!

Here's my take on the shots. Those are different shots, different angles, different lighting. If you look closely you can see he looks about the same throughout each timeskip. What you're getting confused by is:

The 1st picture is a promo shot. So the photo compared to on screen film won't look the same. They may have painted him up especially for the first shot. So his features might be more or less detailed.

The 3rd shot is rumored to be at the beginning of the movie, which may mean he hadn't been painted up/bleached but is already scarred. Or like your statement, he's using disguise.

And the last shot, we can't see his roots because of the lighting being so dark at the top. And also his hair is dry so it looks more vivid in addition to the sunset lighting. Unlike the usual wet look we saw before where it looked dull and fading. But his roots do show in the wet look, not sure why.

That's just my guess on it all. But it could all be wrong and he could change and become more grotesque throughout the movie.

All of them is the real one.

We're going to get progressive stages of the charcter in the movie. He's a clown, he constantly wearing make-up.

Enter the real joker: Jack Nicholson... aka Jack Napier. He's back!!!

That would be a joker's joke.

Can't wait to see Heath Ledger as Joker.

his true face....after the make-up is finally removed.

(this is what my sauce told me)

I always liked this pic also....

Fergie is a man. I can't believe some people can't see that. Also, so are all of the Pussycat Dolls.

Yep...especially that lead choreographer of the phonycat dolls.

Have you seen her/him?? Freakin scary....

For some reason, I'm thinking, the reason is not the facial makeup, but instead the lips.

I think the reason the car pic looks so different is because of the clean lipstick.

I did some quick work on Photoshop to make the car pic look like the first pic (the lips). Here it is:

I would gladly share my opinions on the matter but your manip is too small.

Maybe Joker will be bitten by a wereclown in the movie and this will lead to him having perma-white skin.

Sorry. My bad. Finally fixed it now. Check the previous post ^^^

Thanks but it still looks like some animal chewed his cheeks on the IBIHD picture (rumoured to be a make-up test anyway), not so much on the last pic where the scar looks like it has healed (smeared lipstick or not) Anyway, I like the goth death mask look of the first pic and I love the Batman # 1 flavour of the last one. I really dig where they are taking that new Joker.

Obviously, from your manip, it's clear his makeup is "cleaner" and his lipstick is even when compared to the first pic we got. In some of the other leaked photos (the non-running makeup ones), it's also neater.

Although I still think there may be something else going on, I think Nolan may have possibly "edited" Joker's look between the first pic (the close-up) and what actually was used for production/filming. There were rumors (unfounded ones, mind you) that the first IBIHDT pic was simply a makeup "test" that was in the ballpark of what they were looking for, but not final.

After fan reaction, perhaps they toned it down a bit. When it first hit the net, many people (including here) said they dug the frightening aspects of it, but didn't like the messy makeup or the severity of the scarring. Now it appears that his lipstick is mostly even and the scars have become more subtle.

Then again, it could be Joker "phases." Keep in mind the other rumors that said Joker would start off looking like himself, but not "BE" himself completely. I always assumed that meant mentally - perhaps as he goes nuttier and nuttier with power, he perfects the look; i.e., his makeup gets cleaner, more defined, etc. I wouldn't put it past Nolan that, as Joker's persona develops throughout TDK (if that's indeed true), he would alter his look slightly, refining it more and more.

I still like my "sanity deteriorating/skin deteriorating" theory.

Like, he fell in chemicals sometime during the time at the end of Begins. Batman might have been the "cuase" of it. And Batman just knows him so far as a faceless thug trying to hijack a chemical plant's payroll. Okay, skip ahead to TDK, where Joker's natural skin and hair colors begin to wear away. And, since he seems like a very vein person, so does his sanity. Which coincides with a Miranda Fox report that says Joker will grow more and more Jokerish over the course of the movie. Now, his skin and hair colors begin to wear away, as evidenced by the picture of Heath sans white skin and scars, at the bank, with that little tuft of green hair. That's the first sign. Blah, blah, blah it deteriorates more and more all over his body, blotches of white and skin tone. Giving the ILLUSION of a man painting his face white. You don't see the rest of his body, of course, so it DOES look like a normal man painting his face white. But since he laughs and smiles so much, the wrinkles wear the skin pigment away faster. That's also true, that when you smile and laugh at extremes all the time, your face does stretch and form slight or major wrinkles. So the pink skin would deteriorate faster. Okay, now Joker's pretty much teetoring(sp?) on the very brink of falling into the abyss. Cut to Batman SOMEHOW inadvertantly cuasing Joker's scar(only one side, it'd be impossible to scar both sides at the same time). That basically sends Joker completely over the edge, and simultaneously cementing his hatred and obsession with Batman. Also, he carves the other side of his face up, just to match it. Becuase, one side is very badly cut, like from a freak accident. But the other side is very cleanly cut, like it was done on purpose. And, over the course of the movie, he puts on either flesh-colored or white make-up, depending on the situation and the need at hand. Maybe he needs to blend in, and puts flesh colored make-up over the white blotchy parts on his face. Maybe he needs to contribute more to the illusion and add a little white to even it out. Master of Disguise, of course. Add to the fact that Joker did apply flesh-colored make-up to bleached skin in his first appearence. Why not take it a step in another direction, make it more real, and make it to where he just needs to even it out a little. Becuase I doubt chemicals, even chemicals that WERE capable of bleaching skin and greening hair, would do it at one time. Since skin ages and hair falls out and grows back, it would be over the course of a very long time.

That's my theory. At least all of what I can think of right now. If I had more time, I'd probably be able to flesh it out a bit more.
