The Dark Knight The many faces of the Joker. Which is the "real" one?

I still like my "sanity deteriorating/skin deteriorating" theory.

Like, he fell in chemicals sometime during the time at the end of Begins. Batman might have been the "cuase" of it. And Batman just knows him so far as a faceless thug trying to hijack a chemical plant's payroll. Okay, skip ahead to TDK, where Joker's natural skin and hair colors begin to wear away. And, since he seems like a very vein person, so does his sanity. Which coincides with a Miranda Fox report that says Joker will grow more and more Jokerish over the course of the movie. Now, his skin and hair colors begin to wear away, as evidenced by the picture of Heath sans white skin and scars, at the bank, with that little tuft of green hair. That's the first sign. Blah, blah, blah it deteriorates more and more all over his body, blotches of white and skin tone. Giving the ILLUSION of a man painting his face white. You don't see the rest of his body, of course, so it DOES look like a normal man painting his face white. But since he laughs and smiles so much, the wrinkles wear the skin pigment away faster. That's also true, that when you smile and laugh at extremes all the time, your face does stretch and form slight or major wrinkles. So the pink skin would deteriorate faster. Okay, now Joker's pretty much teetoring(sp?) on the very brink of falling into the abyss. Cut to Batman SOMEHOW inadvertantly cuasing Joker's scar(only one side, it'd be impossible to scar both sides at the same time). That basically sends Joker completely over the edge, and simultaneously cementing his hatred and obsession with Batman. Also, he carves the other side of his face up, just to match it. Becuase, one side is very badly cut, like from a freak accident. But the other side is very cleanly cut, like it was done on purpose. And, over the course of the movie, he puts on either flesh-colored or white make-up, depending on the situation and the need at hand. Maybe he needs to blend in, and puts flesh colored make-up over the white blotchy parts on his face. Maybe he needs to contribute more to the illusion and add a little white to even it out. Master of Disguise, of course. Add to the fact that Joker did apply flesh-colored make-up to bleached skin in his first appearence. Why not take it a step in another direction, make it more real, and make it to where he just needs to even it out a little. Becuase I doubt chemicals, even chemicals that WERE capable of bleaching skin and greening hair, would do it at one time. Since skin ages and hair falls out and grows back, it would be over the course of a very long time.

That's my theory. At least all of what I can think of right now. If I had more time, I'd probably be able to flesh it out a bit more.

i like that also

Wow, you must be smoking some good s***! I can't even get my sauce to speak at all.

pretty good idea, the timeline isn't exactly how i imagine it playing out, but the theory is dead on. i have a feeling that IS what's going on. his condition, for some reason or another (a reason that is never dealt with in the movie), is getting worse and worse. so throughout the movie he gets more and more white, and his hair gets more and more green. perfect.

I concur. This could also explain why he's so effin' wrinkly in the new pic. :P

Man that shot of makeupless Joker, wtf. Who manipped that?

I forget the name, but some ******** appeared and only posted one quarter of that image (one eye and a ear) and claimed it was official concept art commisioned to a friend of his. No one else had the pic or knew where it was from, so maybe he was telling the truth. I like to think so. Eventually he posted the whole thing. In some ways it matches how Ledger Joker eventually turned out. No one knew he'd have long straggly hair back then.

Ya know, the fact that he's so wrinkly in the new pic might also be explained by the most likely senario that he wears the make-up moost of the time.

As someone who has litterally spent 12+ hours caked in white makeup on their face, I can say that by the end of it, unless I reapplied the make-up, which I had to do, that's exactly what I looked like.

The places where he has wrinkles are all natural wrinkle areas. Forhead, eyebrows, cheeks, nose...the white was just simply wearing off faster in those areas.

But..I'm not trying to start yet another freaking war over teh perma or not perma argument again. I'm just letting those of you know that it's still VERY possible that he just wears make-up. White make-up at that.

heh. the sauce I can handle. It's when the meatballs start crying about 'wasted lives' that I kinda begin to freak out.

I manipped the manip to look like the actual Joker we're getting. Enjoy.

I remember this one. Alot of people are upset about the Joker we're really getting, but if Nolan went with something like this, I'd kill myself. Hard.

Why?

That pic gives Joker a whole, "I dunno if it's art, but I like it."

whoever did the skin on that fake was really good imho

yep. so when he said it was a commision for TDK some people felt more inclined to believe him rather than just tromp all over his newbie head like we ordinarily would. he also didn;t seem too desperate to please, just came and went. mentioned something about 'alpha channels' in photoshop, i don't know what that means.

Might wanna talk back to your "sauce" my boy. That pic has been floating around for ages.

I know, it's just my wishful thinking. hence the sauce
