I disagree with that r rating sentiment for BoP. I don't think the scene where Sionis forces a woman to strip makes it into PG 13.

Just finished my re-watch of the first Joker movie in prep for seeing Folie a Deux.

It's fascinating watching the new movie burn but I am going to judge it for myself later this week. I still like the first movie also despite being a very dark movie.

Ironically not just the best DCEU sequel but also the best DCEU movie in general.

The movie that watered down Amanda Waller, tried to make a dirty rat cute, and had a big ass CGI kaiju in its third act like a third rate Marvel movie?



It had a really good opening credits sequence though with that song.

You know what? All things considered, Aquaman 2 really wasn't bad.

It wasn't! And we were hearing for a long time about all those disastrous test screenings calling it "one of the worst DC movies ever made." Either They fixed the movie after those screenings or it was completely bogus.

So, my friends, what happens to Harley Quinn on film now? The character has had such a up and down history at the box office so far with no film being a clear winner.

Suicide Squad: Made a lot of money but critically destroyed. Also, I feel like the general audience kind of hate watched this movie because i dont know anyone in real life that actually calls this a "good" movie.

Birds of Prey: Much better with critics but audiences kind of scracthed their heads at it and it flopped.

The Suicide Squad: MUCH higher critical and fan reception but i do not think general audiences knew what the Heck this movie was and it absolutely tanked (and yes, covid was a factor). I think the movie was just too weird and niche for general audiences to want to see honestly.

Folie a Deuces: Everyone and their mother just straight up spit this out.

So what does WBD do with this character going forward? I DO believe the general audience is waiting for a GREAT movie starring Harley Quinn that hits the four quadrants but they just cant crack the code.

I think she needs to be in a Batman film, perhaps the new Batman DCU if that's still a thing.She debuted in a Batman project and they should go back to that. I would kind of go with the Selina Kyle Batman Returns route showing her descend into madness rather than just starting out as a fully formed character.

I thought Aquaman 2 was okay. Essentially it's just a less good version of the first movie, but manages to still be fun and entertaining

I think she needs to be in a Batman film, perhaps the new Batman DCEU if that's still a thing.She debuted in a Batman project and they should go back to that. DCU Batman is the high profile place where she could take off if they get her right. Also this DCU Batman needs to be different coming out at the same time as a Reeves Batman and with Nolan Batman as the main Batman for the recent era. If it's more fantastical, comic booky and out-there then Harley might fit (at least in one of the sequels if not the first film).

From Spidey 4 I wanted simple street level Spidey dealing with the fallout from losing his friends (I'd love if they committed to that consequence for at least a full film), and meeting some new friends like Felicia Hardy (recurring character pls) as allies for this film.

I guess something more is to be expected with the ramp up to Secret Wars and I would also like to see the crazy stuff too elsewhere. Just seems the timing is a bit screwed up as I'd have liked to see the friend situation play out in a quieter back-to-basics Spidey film first.
