I believe Sophie Turner as Jean Grey was a first for X-Men, BUT it wasn't the most popular choice around here. A lot of fans were rooting for her friend, what's her face?
Hailee Steinfeld?

Turner as Jean was pretty popular everywhere else I went.
Munn as Psylocke was another one.

She'd make a great Shadowcat... I assume she's Jewish as well

Hailee Steinfeld should have been Jean. And her recent performance in The Edge of Seventeen continued to show what a phenomenal actress she is. Something Turner just isn't.

Turner was fine in XMA, tho. Just fine.

Munn as Psylocke was another one.

I wanted Gemma Chan and I hope they recast her still

The greatest thing about X-Men is there's plenty of good female parts to go around.

Yes, that's her.

I don't recall Munn's name in these forums though. I think it came a bit as a surprise given she's half-American. Most predictions/requests were for actresses of 100% Asian origin.

She's dangling just below "fine" for me. Turner's abilities are a big question mark moving forward, especially if they're doing Phoenix Saga again. The other new kids are great though.

She doesn't even look the part as Jean. She'd be more ideal as Husk.

I like that shes has a first-dan black belt in taekwondo and her training in Kenpō karate. Wish X-Men movies had better fighters.

I think if they want to cast a Vietnamese actress, they'll cast someone unknown as Lana Condor. The only young Vietnamese actress I can think of is Brenda Song and she's 28.

If they cast a proper talent it won't matter one bit.

Lana Condor is Vietnamese-American but nobody had issue with her as Jubilee.

I was thinking to myself...is Mystique going to supplant Magneto in this film? I guess it would make sense since she is a reformed brotherhood member.

Now you're just trolling.

He thinks that any little thing from the comics might justify the movie. Mystique taking "Magneto's role from New Mutant's" doesn't add anything to Apocalypse and just angers fans who had to sit through proper X-Men getting multiple pep talks from damn Mystique. So much eye rolling when Jean Grey said she looks up to Mystique on the "X-Jet" (Why is calling it the Blackbird so difficult?)

It's harmless though, at the end of the day it doesn't have to mean anything to you. If it elevates the film to him that's his prerogative.

I've certainly made it clear that it makes no difference to me: the movie still sucks in my opinion.

I find it amusing honestly... But it got annoying when he said I need to brush up on my comic book knowledge because for some reason Cyclops losing his hair in the 12 Storyline meant its right for Xavier to lose his hair to Apocalypse.

Worse than that, if you read the context of his post, he's actually saying that Mystique should lead the team in the New Mutants movie as well...
