Nope.

Boyd Holbrook is a hottie!

Henry Zaga has been confirmed by josh boone to be playing sunspot so let the controvsy begin.

Which is why I said he'd fit that of the trapped teenage boy and didn't say he was 1:1 with the character itself. We don't know if any of these actors will fit the personalities of the mutants they're portraying, but I'll wait until there's a teaser or trailer to go off for a better idea.
I think he is a good choice as Cannonball he is great in Stranger Things anf of course he wont be bubbly and happy since hes locked in a facility so it wont be like that. Charlie Heaton will deliver in the role Im sure this will work. Also he is quite attractive gives me that moody vibe which could work in how this movie is looking with it having a horror theme. Im loving most of the casting news im hearing so far, though I did want more Afro-Brazilian for Sunspot but no big deal.

Side-note, one thing I do appreciate Boone doing is that, for the most part, he's using much of the roster from the original New Mutants instead of a hodgepodge of X-Men characters more recognizable to the general public.

While I don't mind X-Men 1 or First Class not starting with the original five, even though that would've been nice, it looks like this will come closer to mirroring the lineup of the original New Mutants.

That aside, I imagine that, as far as the X-Men goes, we probably wouldn't get the original five plus Xavier until Fox reboots the franchise way down the line or if Marvel Studios wants to start from the beginning, were they to ever get the rights.

Why wouldnt he? Most of the recognizable X-men have already been used in the films. If this were to recycle them, then it might as well be called X-men: The New Mutants. Without X-men in the title, there was only one clear choice of what it would be and that is featuring the characters associated with that team

I dont think there will ever be a film based on the O5, especially if Marvel Studios got their hands on the franchise. A film starring an all white teenage team? Thats not going to fly with Marvel especially with the diversity push they've been on. They'd either change the races of established characters like Iceman, Angel and/or Beast or just substitute in the minority members from the beginning. The former would be met with quite a bit of criticism and the latter is closely to what they did with Apocalypse

Why wouldn't he? Because it'd be easy for any director to just cherry-pick popular names out of a hat, or do something outrageous like throw Gambit in there since his film isn't off the ground yet. If general audiences didn't get up in arms over First Class or X-1 not having the original five, a director would probably figure 'Screw it. Who on the B list of X-Men hasn't been used yet?'

Luckily, Boone doesn't look to be that kind of director and wants to be more faithful. And were Marvel Studios to use the original five, I could see them doing changes like making Iceman gay. Doesn't change his ethnicity, but it'd be seen as progressive since one of the criticisms the MCU has gotten on occasion is its lack of diversity. In the films, anyway. Less so on the Netflix side.

The New Mutants are the B list X-men. Most of the more notable ones have already been used

Making Iceman gay wouldnt be a change since that is canon. That still doesnt change the fact that 5 of the characters would be white. They'd change the races of some of them or just the non-white X-characters.

And they aren't the most known team. Starting with the O5 is a stupid idea.

it's a moot.if fox ever reboots x-men they aren't going with o5.and i don't
understand some obsession with o5.they aren't even most popular lineup.

for new mutants boone is using most of original lineup.

Duh.

Well he's using the most recognizable members of the New Mutants. You do know that there's a difference between the X-Men and the New Mutants , right?

It is worth pointing out no X-Men movie, to my knowledge, used an actual comics lineup when they made the movie. This is certainly the most faithful movie in that regard.

Think my point went over your head there, but what else is new? Gavin Hood used Gambit, for example, in X-Men Origins, when he's hardly the most recognizable part of Logan's backstory. Same with someone like Banshee or Mystique in First Class. Would be easy for a director to cherry pick and just insert mutant 1 here for the story even if it, and Boone's not doing that.

What you aren't getting is New Mutant is a splinter team. And they arent the X-Men, and it wouldnt feel right if they include faces that are more of a X-Men mainstay. X-Force also seems to be getting members that were in the comics line up and a bigger staple of X-Force than the X-Men. Anyway, its the first film and they aren't running out of members to introduce similar to X1 consisted of familiar X-Men members.

Also, Cecilia Reyes appearing in the film as a mentor is nothing different than shoehorning Gambit in the Wolverine movie.

pretty much since she seems to be filling Stevie Hunter's role, whom is even less well known and hasnt had relevance in decades. She may not be A-list but Boone went with a more notable X-man here who wasnt even created when the NM had their original run

I think Rosario wanted super powers finally so she'd never accept Stevie probably.

Again, I don't think you get that I like the approach Boone is taking and that, again, a clueless director would just throw in anyone for the sake of fan-service or convenience to fill a slot. Obviously it wouldn't feel right to include X-Men or recognizable characters, but it's happened before with certain characters popping up where it's not necessary and luckily, Boone is avoiding that.

Phew! The right girl was chosen.

So anyone seen this "The Originals" show that she's apparently been in? Unfamiliar with her myself, but have no problem with an unknown cast in the role. Could give them time to shine.

Not feeling the casting for this film. Maise is the only one I was pleased with
