The New New Avengers

That's because you were never interested in the Avengers before the Bendisvengers and you're not into most of the characters. Academy is the closest thing to a classic Avengers comic we've got right now as far as tone goes, and I love seeing Hank Pym treated as a flawed but genuinely heroic and competent individual. The characters are all meshing really well together, too, so even the characters I'm not really over the moon about are still fun to read.
I'm getting bored of the everytime a new writer uses Hank Pym they have to have him get mocked by a villain/hero then kick there ass or outsmart them just to prove his not a joke act all the time.

Heh, I find it fun. But yeah, it does seem to happen a lot.

I'm not really seeing it like that. Hank's been on his "Redemption Tour 5.0" once again in his life. This has never been more apparent in Academy and his recent mini (Van Dyne women's shelter, Bill Foster's heaven, ect). Unlike the previous times he's tried to make something positive of his life, there's an air of confidence around him that hasn't been around before (as shown in his fight w/Ultron at the end of Mighty Avengers). He used to wallow in self pity after every past fight with Ultron, not the last time. He's become more dangerous to his opponents if you ask me.

I just sat and reread the first 7 issues and I didn't realize how much I enjoyed this series until I did that. I'll really miss Immonen when he leaves but I just LOVE this team itself and the art and even the magic story (which I'm not usually big on) was pretty enjoyable (despite the predictable ending). And issue 7 was just fantastic. I love that they're getting an interesting supporting staff in Squirrel Girl, Wong, and Victoria Hand and I'm really enjoying the series overall.

For me, this is by far the best Avengers book on the market. Avengers and Secret Avengers pales horribly and, while Academy is decent, it isn't anywhere NEAR as interesting as this book.

Just thought I'd throw my thoughts out there.

"Co Signed"
(they need to make Smilie for "cosigned" the closest is :word:)

I'd rather see the old support screw come back. Michael O'Brien as head of Mansion security, Fabian as their inventor, Peggy Carter obviously is in a nursing home so she can't be there as head of Communications.

Well.
I'm hoping they don't forget.

Do they have a quinjet?

Well all thats fine but when someone else writes Hank Pym I don't want it to be "Redemption Tour 6.0" they need to move on if they had Iron Man apologising Civil War, Armor Wars being an Alcoholic with every writer it would annoy fans.

Well.

Secret Avengers do. The regular Avengers have some jet variation that JRJR put together. They haven't called it a Quinjet but it doesn't look like the conventional model.

Isn't the Secret Avengers' thing an expanded version called a quincarrier or something like that?

It's some kind of SHIELD heli-carrier type shuttle called the Quincarrier that Sharon provides support from but they do have a Quinjet that the team uses to get from point A to point B. I think it launches from the carrier itself.....

ADVANCE PREVIEW: "New Avengers" #9

It's a good thing no one looks up in comics. Having an entire team of superheroes standing on a building in plain view generally isn't the best way to conduct a stakeout. ;)

Nice looking preview.

A beautiful hardcore feminazi with durability and super strength,... and a mind,... wearing a shirt skirt,..

getting drooled over by the male avengers???
:awesome:

kinda looks like warrior woman from the invaders..

Never heard of her

She first appeared in Captain America during the Superia Strategem when she formed an army of female villains and tried to turn Cap and Paladin into women. She's also a descendant of Thundra. The last I saw of her was when she was able to cure Cap's degenerating condition due to the serum failing. I think the Skull killed her. It was in the "Taking AIM" crossover right before Waid's first run.

:wow: Those wacky supervillain schemes :whatever:

Yeah it was at the tail end of Gruenwald's run and he was beginning to show signs of wear on the book. After that story came the Operation Galactic Storm crossover with the Avengers books then CapWolf (which believe it or not is getting a trade this March:doh:)

And those trades deserve a can of gasoline and a book of matches.

"We don't need no water, let that mother burn!"

You clearly just can't appreciate the nuanced subtleties of CapWolf's dynamic and engrossing narrative. :o

Now you're using fancy words and that's the same thing that drove me away from CapWolf:o..................well, that and Steve Rogers turned into a werewolf.
