The New New Avengers

I agree. Personally, I think he's got a good thing going with the street level Avengers. He'd lose a lot of criticism though if it were a new gathering of heroes and a new team instead of making them the Avengers.
The Avengers name sells and thats why Marvel keeps it. They could very well have named this book Heroes for Hire, but then it would most likely get cancelled within 2-3 years due to lower sales

I don't care that they're called the Avengers. A "Street Avengers" is a perfectly fine idea. I just wish he'd leave the big, proper Avengers stuff to writers who are actually competent at it. Mighty Avengers improved dramatically when Slott took over. Even though every single issue wasn't necessarily a sparkling gem, overall it was a solid run of good, Avengery stories. :o

I actually found Mighty under Bendis to be horrible, but it got a lot better when Slott came in with his own cast of Avengers. The writing was better... unfortunately it was also largely ignored by Bendis in the rest of the Avengers line.

As far as Bendis goes, I kinda think that his Mighty run was the worst of his stuff. The ideas were fine but the female Ultron, the horrible execusion of thought bubbles, and cho's art (which I'm not a fan of) all brought it down for me. His second arc on the book though with Bagely was pretty good.

I was referring to Slott's run on Mighty Avengers while Bendis was writing New and Dark Avengers. Mighty Avengers was clearly the best Avengers book of the bunch. Dark Avengers was also pretty good.

New Avengers floundered though. At first it was a continuation of Avengers, then it became the underground team after Civil War, but after Secret Invasion it felt like there was no point to the book. There was no direction, the roster made no sense (especially when Clint Barton and Ms. Marvel would have been better suited for Mighty Avengers and Wolverine had no place on the team at all), and it was rather sad that Hank Pym's Avengers put up a better resistance against Osborn than the team that was actually dedicated in taking him down.

Heroes for Hire wouldn't really make sense for this book since they aren't...y'know...for hire.

Heroes for Hire, Marvel Knights, Defenders, etc.... The point I was trying to make was that it was the Avengers branding that helps sell the title.

Right, 'cause Cage, Iron Fist, Misty, et al. have really been sticklers for getting paid since the '70s. ;)

Now post the pic where he gave a kid a dollar to give back to him so he could beat up a drug dealer that was causing some s**t in the hood.

If Terry Crews can't do it, that guy should totally be Cage in a movie. I can imagine him saying "SWEET CHRISTMAS!"

Bendis revealed the new nanny for Luke an Jessica's baby @ the NYCC Avengers panel......

Bendis addressed the question of "Who is the nanny?" of Luke Cage and Jessica Jones' baby in "New Avengers" joking that it had to be someone new because "Agatha Harkness is dead." He then revealed that after much debate, Squirrel Girl won out. "This isn't a joke," the writer said. "I wrote my Squirrel Girl issue. She has a hidden past with some members of the group...she's one of dozens of people who auditioned for the job, and you'll meet all the applicants in the book."

All that and more here:http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=28792

Awww man, now he's gonna f**k up [blackout]Squirrel Girl[/blackout] Is nothing sacred?!? :argh:

Next Issue, someone will die... apparently. Could it be Wolverine since he is already in Hell right now?

It's been rumored for a while now that Strange was becoming SS again. Voodoo isn't technically an Avenger but he was on the preview cover for #6. He had a solo series that got canceled anyway. He's outlived his usefulness.

So...according to this latest issue, Hawkeye has superstrength.
