Even considering Claremont's Exiles issues, though, the concept has had a rest.
The true Exiles concept, as started by Judd (I can't believe I'm saying this) Winick and picked up briefly by Chuck (Oh my god, here I go again) Austen, was a lot of high stakes and tough decisions. Tony Bedard ruined that with some of the stalest and crappiest stories possible. I'm not even sullied by the ruination of Morph and the death of Mimic that he did since, hey, if they'd been done right and well, they could have been good stories. Although, really, there was no saving what went down with Morph, and that in and of itself is evidence of just how far Bedard ran the title into the ground.
Actually, before Claremont decided to continue being the hack writer he's become lately, his first few issues after Bedard left were a collective breath of fresh air and showed some hope. Or I was being an idealist and thinking that, put on some new project, Claremont could produce something not gag-inspiring.
