11 months waiting. Urgh. Im sure its worth waiting for, but I hoped it would drop Fall/Winter to join Award season. April release didnt sound they are confident with it.

I wonder what the reasoning is for the release date. The movie's got to be about done if not done with post, why wait a year to release it?

Oh yeah, and Focus is test screening it already! I wonder if they are anticipating a need to do some reshoots and tinkering with it.

The Witch also had a similar delay to theaters. It premiered at Sundance in January 2015, but didn't get a theatrical release until February 2016.

First MI7 gets delayed and now this. What's next, Dune?

Indeed his previous movies felt very authentic regarding respective periods they portrayed. At the very least I'm hoping to see believable viking era.

Since we now have so much crap about Vikings can we move to some high quality big budget productions on Africa like the Mali Empire with Mansa Musa or the Aksumite Empire (of modern-day Ethiopia)?

A few reactions out there:

Calls this very long at around 2hr and 45 min give or take, very dark and violent, not GA friendly...so basically a normal Eggers movie. Rough cut. Some guy said he needed to 'google search' a lot of things. lol ATJ is great in her scenes, per usual.

Movie sounds extremely brutal, and at length. Might need to be in a certain mood for that.

As I get older I have a harder time enjoying these types of movies, even if I appreciate things about them. Valhalla Rising, for instance... impressive flick in a lot of ways but I doubt I will ever watch again.

Any mention if the film is in black and white?

Sounds like this will be bloated and overindulgent starring a guy that doesn't move me much at all as an actor. Should be an interesting watch.
