I see. Why didn't you complete VIII? I never completed X-2 or IX actually.
Lmao, this is getting confusing. :p

I did complete VIII. It's my favourite.

I didn't complete VII. I didn't play it until after I'd completed IX. I'd lent it off a friend, and just never got around to completing it before I gave it back. Didn't get far in. I think maybe I just wasn't too keen because playing the game was going backwards rather than forwards.

Think of final fantasy game with a taste of vagrant story

Someone else who appreciated Vagrant Story. That was an amazing game that got like no respect. It only seems a certain group liked that one. It had a great story, so if XII is similar, the story should be great.

I'm surprised at how lame some of the fansites for XII are. You'd think if they were big enough fans to run a site, they'd be big enough fans to import the game and update some content.

Alas, they're stuck in a time warp.

It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives you insane,
Let's do the Time Warp again!
:p

That makes sense. ;) I was confused because you missed off VIII from your original list.

EDIT: No you didn't, I'm just blind. :p

n00b question...why do Cloud and Sephiroth hate each other?

Sephiroth pretty much destroyed almost everything in Nibelhiem, and quite a bit of Cloud's life

Does anyone know of a page on the net that lists the summons of FFXII with a few images etc. I'd like to see a few of the summons in action.

How so? And why did Sephiroth turn evil in the first place?

:wow: I can't even remember half the story to FFVII. I've got to play that again asap.

Okay, so Sephiroth found out he was artificially created from Jenhova cells and went nuts. Talking about bringing his mother back from the dead and destroying the planet because that's what his mother does. He went on a rampage, destroyed Clouds home town, and went up to the reactor in the mountains to get his mothers body. Cloud followed, got there just in time to see his friend Zack get the crap kicked out of him and Tifa nearly dead by being impaled by Sephiroth's sword. Eventually he stabbed Sephiroth and knocked him off the edge of the platform into the reactor core where he was lost to the Life stream. So, Cloud hates him because he destroyed his home town and nearly killed everybody that lived there. Sephiroth hates Cloud for stopping him from reviving his mother. And then of course, Seph did kill Aries. If he didn't hate the bastard before, he really hated him after that.

Gre^t Memories there. I shall be playing that very soon.

Right, a collection of reviews for FFXII. They're all good.

10 / 10 / 10 / 10 - 40 [platinum ; Mar 2006]

100% Play Magazine
The scale of FFXII is so grand, so overwhelming, so vast, that comparisons to other video games--a proper review, in other words--borders on the impossible. [Jun 2006, p.69]

95% Deeko
This is an extremely well-crafted game and the time taken to create it is highly evident. [JPN Import]

95% PSM Magazine
Even without any special incentives to replay through it once it's over, Final Fantasy XII offers a beautiful, well written, fun RPG experience that is both long and rewarding. Matsuno's team took some real chances with the gameplay this time around, but the results are pleasantly surprising. [Oct 2006, p.56]

93% GameBrink
It’s a flawed great game. The battle system is fast and fun, yet it’s a bit simple and repetitive. The license board provides non-linear character growth, yet there aren’t that many ways to raise the characters. The towns feel alive and outdo anything to date, yet the dungeons feel all too similar and repetitive. [JPN Import]

Despite the demo being met with scepticism, Square Enix has crafted a truly fantastic game that is a stunning change of pace and feel for the Final Fantasy series, but still manages to stay largely true to its roots. Beautiful. [JPN Import; Issue #139, p.60]

91% Games Master UK
After its stormy development, FF12 isn't just a worthy installment of the series, but a great RPG in its own right, one that thinks differently and feels all the better for it. [JPN Import; June 2006, p.72]

90% PSM2 Magazine UK
FFXII is a gargantuan, gorgeous game with a gripping plot, likeable characters and an interesting new combat system that injects some much-needed life into the series. Wonderful. [JPN Import; June 2006, p.44]

90% EuroGamer
Hands-down the best instalment in the series since "VII." There, we said it. It succeeds on just about every imaginable level, combining a loveable and well-designed cast and suitably twist-ridden storyline with the most unique slant on the series' traditional turn-based combat system since it went all tactical to stunning effect. [JPN Import]

80% games(TM)
Like it or not, the Final Fantasy series has come of age and this new approach to the genre is a breath of fresh air. [JPN Import; June 2006, p.108]

I'm really looking forward to XII. I didn't know the US release is already this year.

I do think it's odd they've completely dropped the usual summons. Ifrit, Shiva and Bahamut are series regulars, and I'm not to sure about this new bunch. They're just not familiar enough.

That said, I did look down that summon list and there are a couple of cool looking espers to pick from.

Apparantly, you only unlock 5 of the summons if you just follow the story. To unlock the rest, you need to do some hunting outside of the story.

I'm kinda pissed that they got rid of all the regular Summons. I was really looking forward to seeing Bahamut's new look, but now he isn't even in the game.

But at least some of the new Summons look similar to the old ones.

- Hashmarim resembles Ifrit, though it's earth based Summon instead of fire.
- Mateus is the new ice based Summon and like Shiva, she is a blue female. The only change here seems to be the name.
- Maybe I'm reaching a little with the last Summon, but I see a little of Bahamut in Zeromus.

This is one of the summons which interests me most. Nice design.

As for the summon who resembles Shiva. Apparantly that esper was once a man, but became a woman. Very strange. :p

Thanks for putting than better than I did. Mine didn't make that much sense really. :)
