I'd just be happy with a release of FFX for 360. I played a few FFs before VII, wasn't crazy about them. Loved VII, didn't like VIII or IX, liked X quite alot, hated XII.

I want them to do an HD remaster of XII after the two FFX titles are done. My life will be complete if this happens

I would love it if they did XII HD, it's one of my favorite FF games.

I never finished it. I'd love to give it another try.

I find myself feeling oddly optimistic about what Square is going to show at E3.

I did not mind XII, but it was far from my favorite. I prefered IV-X much more.

An HD version of XII would be nice, especially if they gave us the Zodiac Job System build of the game as opposed to the original.

I'm really looking forward to the FFX HD collection, especially since I've never had the chance to play X-2 despite X being my favorite game in the franchise.

lol...thanks for not slamming it. I tend to feel like Im one of the few that actually loved it as it gets a mixed response. It was the last major title I was playing on my PS2 before I got a PS3. I remember playing it for months on end and racing home after work to put a few more hours in each day. The game was great and was awesome for giving us one, of the best character created in the franchise, Balthier. He doesnt get nearly as much love and Im upset SE keeps ignoring him. (should have been in Dissidia or given his own spinoff instead of that annoying Vaan)

You really should, if you ever get the time. I was just starting it up again when SE announced FFX HD, and I decided to hold off till after I played through that (of course, I didnt know the wait would be so long)

just go into it with an open mind. It really was a fun game with one of the best battle systems. Alot of people wrote it off bc it had a different vibe, focusing on 3 females with a Charlie's Angel's like angle, being more light hearted and less serious than the original. That didnt take away from it though as it had an intriguing story and mystery surrounding it to keep you engaged

Like I said, I haven't finished XII, so I don't know if there has been any kind of drastic character progression, but from what I've played, I agree with your comment on Vaan. He is easily the weakest of all FF protagonists. He didn't even feel like a main character. He was more like a tag-along, that follows these big and important characters on their adventures. I was even hoping that the Princess would make it into Dissidia, before him.

^ I liked Vaan, although there's more they could be done to/with his personality.

I've never played the game, but am not ignorant of it and what it offers, and actually like the approach SE took, so getting enjoyment out of it won't be a problem.

As for the all-female cast, Yuna and Rikku are two of my favorite characters in X, so getting to see them take 'center stage' is neat for me, and unlike Paine's look and character description.

FFXII was a let down for me. :hyper:
-One of the most poorly paced FF games
-Boring dungeons, some that overstayed their welcome like the Pharos Tower
-Lackluster story*...
-...perhaps due to the game's director bowing out during development and the project had to be completed by another director
-Randomly generated treasure chests filled with mostly junk**
-Battle system designed around the game literally playing itself
-I turn off those annoying colored lines in battles. They're just gaudy and ugly.
-License board was poorly thought out and resulted in characters being too similar (fixed in Zodiac Edition)
-Vaan and Penelo just there to appease some Japanese focus group
-Music wasn't very good, and was a massive step down from Final Fantasy Tactics and the mainline series games
-Vayne could have been a better antagonist
+ Ashe***, Balthier, Fran, Basch, and Larsa were pretty good characters for what they were
+ Some of the cutscenes looked really cool
+ You can see enemies on the field

I still might replay it if they remastered the Zodiac edition, but it wouldn't be a high priority like playing the Final Fantasy X|X-2 remaster is.

* Political game stories can be fun like the Suikoden series, particularly Suikoden II and V.
** Randomly generated treasure chests can be great, like in Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3. Lots of real goodies randomly doled out.
*** Ashe is the main character that the plot mostly revolves around, though Vaan is the perspective character, like a narrator, that the player is forced to exclusively use in towns and play as in the very beginning until Ashe's involvement.

I hope they do XII HD. I've got the game on PS2 and was about 5/6 hours in but won't realistically be plugging that in any time soon.

I never played this Zodiac edition. The license board was probably my main complaint about the game. I didnt like how you were forced to put on skills in order to get certain ones as it made it difficult to individiualize each person's power set

Reading about the license board, I immediately remember that VGcats comic strip. :funny:

Can we expect 'Final Fantasy 13-4'? (snark snark snark)

Man, the world of XIII looks worse with each new Title they add.

The Next Final Fantasy Gets A 2014 Release Date

[YT]Hw5aFX0mlkY[/YT]

The third Final Fantasy XIII game, less awkwardly known as Lightning Returns, will be out slightly later than first planned, on February 11, 2014 (Feb 14 in Europe), Square Enix announced today.

To tide you over, the game's E3 trailer has been released. You can view it above. And yes, we know, E3 isn't until next week. E3 trailers are like Christmas, you know. The decorations go up a little earlier every year.

The game is slated for release on Xbox 360 and PS3. No word on next-gen versions. The next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be out in late 2013. Neither is backwards compatible out of the box with the current-gen games (Sony is at least promising some degree of cloud-gaming PS3 backwards-compatibility), so plan your purchases accordingly.

I want them to go back to their roots again. Like they did with IX and XII. I want some classic FF, with Black Mages, Dragoons, Knights, Geomancers, etc. Their Future stuff gets way too silly.

thanks I was hoping for a release date. I wish it were out this month or July. It would be a great collection to tide the summer over

XV really looks great. After all the stagnation of the XIIIs especially.

The story looks interesting in the trailer for FFXV, the gameplay, much less so. Too many linear scripted set pieces in the trailer as well. Might play like a severely dumbed down God of War. Need more info.

FINAL FANTASY X|X-2 HD Remaster - E3 2013 Trailer

It almost feels as if SE is making a comeback of sorts. Nothing but positivity this week. Now lets see if they can actually release these games

^ I assume you're talking not only about X/X2 Remastered but the other FF game announced today. We don't have a concrete release date for the one game, but it's been known for several months that the PS3 version of X/X2 Remastered will be released on December 31st (New Year's Eve) in the US.
