Final Fantasy III Now Available At Steam Store. May 27, 2014 . 5:01pm

Final Fantasy III now available for purchase at Steam Store and other retailers (with a 20% off incentive at some retailers).

Square Enix sure likes tossing re-released ports onto the Steam Store without release dates. Accordingly, Final Fantasy III for the PC is now available for sale on the Steam Store and elsewhere. Last mentioned back in April of this year and price-confirmed earlier this month, the game appeared there and on other digital retailers just this morning.

Final Fantasy III is priced at $15.99/€12.99/£10.99 at the Steam Store, but digital retailers GMG and GameFly Digital both have site-wide 20% off codes that work on Steam keys of the game. Details below:

The game has been updated with Steam Trading Cards and the usual Achievement stuff. (Yay?) Screenshots shown at the retailers make it seem likely that the PC port differs very little from the smartphone version, so there won’t be an updated graphical experience as far as I can tell.

If the 20% off isn’t enticing, we suspect the game will eventually reach the 33-50% off level by this holiday season. (It took a while for FF VII and FF VIII, but both titles eventually dropped below the $6 level by around the 10 month mark.) At the pace Square Enix is going, all titles will eventually appear on mobile platforms and the PC – probably not a bad thing for those of us wanting to revisit some nostalgia.

I have a question:
If you had to choose 3 Dresspheres each for Yuna, Rikku, and Paine in addition to their 'defaults' (Gunner/Songstress, Thief/Songstress, and Warrior) and base those choices on the game's storyline and the girls' individual personalities, what would they be?

I'm really hoping FFIII does well so they put out FFIV. Chrono Trigger would be great as well.

would be nice if they released a "remastered" anthology of all the FF games (minus the MMO ones ) on PS3 at least.

Look how long it took for them to do that for FFX/X-2. By the time they did something like that for all the games, the PS3 will be irrelevant and it would be best served as a late PS4 release, probably pushing towards the PS5

Yeah, that **** would take forever. Unless we're just taking about a collection of straight ports of all the mainline games in the series. Be cool to have that in a single collection.

I don't care at all about the remastered nonsense. Just give me the originals without having to buy a $400 console to play them on, is all I ask.

Are original ports of FFII, III, and V available outside Japan? I know they all got re-released in some form, but is there anyway to get them in a non-altered form?

yeah. that's more of what I meant.

give us collections of the main games that we can play on our current systems ( be it PS3 or PS4 ) instead of us having to hunt down older systems or handhelds to play the older games.

You can get the first six games on the Wii virtual console. In Japan. Is VII-XII on PSN?

but see. that's what I'm saying. they're spread out across different consoles.

I believe VII-IX are on PSN. don't know about the ones after IX.

I know what you're saying. Right now, the Wii/Wii U is the closest you can get to getting that. If you live in Japan. Only Japan.

well. I don't own a Wii/Wii U and I don't live in Japan. :o :oldrazz:

Well, see, now you can never be happy (well, partially happy, since that's only half the games :o).

I played it, but I don't know, it's been so long I don't really remember the dress spheres all that well.

X and X-2 were just released a few months ago.

Nearly every major FF game is on PSN although it varies between platforms and territory

FF Origins (which compiles I and II) - PS3/PSP (all)
FF III - PSP/Vita (all)
FF IV - PSP/Vita (all); PS3 (Japan only)
FF V to X-2 - PS3/Vita (all)

As it stands someone with just a PS3 outside of Japan can buy and play all the games except III, IV and XII

Is anybody going to answer my question about FFX-2?

I haven't started that bc I put it on hold due to WD's release

I didn't know all of those got released on PSP. I'm assuming they're the remakes. I was thinking more along the lines of actual ports, original versions without any altercations, but true enough, though.

Crap... I made a thread earlier. Before the update.

it's coming to PS4 and not Vita??!!

that's even better!!!
