Comics The Offical Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Thread

The latest issue wasn't too bad. David is definitely setting up a lot of intrigue in his run, if you ask me. Between the evil alternate Uncle Ben. The school nurse Arrow having stingers and eating spiders. And the mystery man who is sending Vulture after Spider-Man. David's run is actually really entertaining.

I been saying that, more or less.

The latest issue is the best one I've read in this title so far. The Vulture was great. Can't beat the classic villains. Loved the little flashback to his past.

And we had Betty Brant, Flash Thompson, and Debra Whitman all in one story. I had almost forgotten what it was like to have a supporting cast in the Spidey comics.

It was pretty awesome to see Betty Brant there. I really liked that little splash page with the Hobgoblin and everything. Awesome stuff.

The Hobgoblin was in this one? The one from 2011 or the true original? If it was the true original, was he actually returning or was it a flashback?

That is definitely a sweet panel of Spider-Man and Hobgoblin. I do wish they'd bring back the original Hobgoblin into the regular universe continuity. What better time to come back when you know who Spider-Man is?

Just read it, I'm liking Friendly Spider-Man a lot right now. More people should buy it to send a message to marvel that we acutally like our Spider-man with his supporting cast around.

i think its pretty obvious that arrow is his 'other' from 'The Other' arc. or maybe im jumping the gun. but she cant possibly randomly inserted.

And if it is "The Other" I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that David is revisiting that. :o

If he doesn't visit The Other, that would be WORSE. That would mean The Other was for absolutely nothing. This could actually make it better by creating a new interesting character in the Spiderverse. Ya know, bring some good out of it. Then The Other would actually have a worthy purpose perhaps. It would be stupid just to leave a huge plot point unresolved again.

It seems apparent that David is trying to tie up loose ends from The Other (and some other stories, although no specific examples jump at me at the moment).

IMO, while it wasn't completely NECESSARY to resolve this facet of the story (if it is indeed what he's doing), it's good IMO to get it out of the way so that fans aren't left wondering about a ****ty story for goodness knows how long (re: F.A.C.A.D.E.).

I've just bought #16, but not yet read it.
Insightful huh?

Well, I DID read # 16 today and it was pretty damn good. Got a little weirded out at the end of the book with Spidey and Vulture, but once it developed I felt a little better. And Ms. Arrow is jealous of Betty Brant, heh. Nice.

But I'm definitely really into David's run so far. Basically, after the Other he took the book into his own direction and I feel he's really slipping into a great rhythm here. And the artwork is pretty solid as well, which helps.

I can't wait to see what David and company do with the Back in Black story and Sandman.

They're gonna kill uncle ben.*sigh*

The Other meaning absolutely nothing would really be the best thing that could happen, IMO. :o

Agreed. David has been on quite a roll, beginning with The Mysterio arc. I definitely can't wait to see what he does with Sandman.

In fact; Im hoping he continues with his "Sinister Six" vibe and gives us stories with Doc Ock, Electro, and Kraven (jr) as well.

Plot, dialogue, art, SUPPORTING CAST.....all is well with FNSM at the moment, imo.

I think one of the biggest improvements of this book has been the return of that supporting cast. Flash, Betty, Deb Whitman. And over in Sensational we've seen glimpses of the old school supporting cast as well.

But it's good to see that the writers aren't forgetting who Peter Parker's friends are.

Yup. We even got treated with a visit to the Daily Bugle this issue.

Read FNSM#16 yesterday and enjoyed it.
I agree that since The Other PAD has started to take the book in an appealing direction considering the constraints of current status quo (PP being the ****** who unmasked and thus took away any sense of normality from his life).

The Mysterio arc was ok, but the art was kinda crappy.
Scot Eaton on the Vulture 3 parter has been great though, I dig his technical and detailed style plus he draws a great Adrian Toomes. I did not like that he draws the movie version of Betty Brant however.

Now that PAD is getting into his flow on this book it will be fun to see what happens next w/ Sandman and the obligatory run into the SM3 promo arcs. Though more distilled this book is becoming, for my money Sensational is still the most realistically written in terms of how peter would react to his current situation. He seems more pissed off in that book.

i love this book and sensational!!! i'm bored with the whole civil war going on in amazing
