I believe filming on Ant-Man begins around the same time as Age of Ultron.

That sounds worse than what you quoted. Still not a direct "No," but it's close.

They could still appear in Avengers 3 when the villain is likely to be Thanos and whoever he's going to have by his side.

Edgar said this film was separate from the rest of the MCU, very stand alone. I doubt that he'll have a role at all.

Exactly. I would have liked to see them in A:AoU, but I'm sure we will see them in A3. There is zero reason not to put them in.

seriously doubt it. but i was in favor of Crossfire being one of the film's villains; since he's relatively low maintenance powers-wise. they could set him up as a freelance subversive for A.I.M. and Clint could show up at some point to take his eye out. in the books, Crossfire was a C.I.A operative doing mind control experiments on prison inmates. i could see meeting Scott Lang through the prison system and setting up the eventual theft of Pym's invention(s).

He never said him being in discussions, which he confirmed himself, was lies.And Variety never even mentioned anything about him having done all that anyway so those "reports", wherever they came from, are indeed just rumors...don't even know where they're getting that from. So all JGL did was basically confirm the Variety report.

Irrespective of how accurate this might prove, and irrespective of whether Wasp is even in the movie, I'm definitely for Rashida Jones as Janet. Very likable and capable actress.

Considering that there's never been any confirmation that Janet will even be in the movie to start with, that's a pretty dubious rumor.

But I'd be ecstatic if/when we ever find out Wasp is really in the movie, and I'd be ecstatic if Rashida gets the call.

It seems like forever since it was revealed that Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World director, Edgar Wright was announced to bring the tiniest Avenger to the big screen. Earlier this month we received word that, This Is 40 star Paul Rudd and The Dark Knight Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt were the front-runners for the title role. Now, I’ll level with you, I’m usually never this formal in my writing, but when it comes to delivering a scoop or an exclusive, I shine my shoes and comb my hair. Late last year, I got a strange email from an anonymous source, I would tell you who it is, but my source has told me not to. So anyway, back to the source, I received an email in November of last year that read, “Edgar Wright plans to have Paul Rudd play Ant-Man.” That’s a legitimate quote from the email. Now, this was in November. So if you follow me on Twitter (@RobDogg_) you’d know, that for months I’ve been saying “Paul Rudd for Ant-Man.” And look at us now.

So, the same source that told me about the Paul Rudd thing has contacted me again. I was actually contacted on Monday, but I went through multiple sites and contacted some friends to track down and find out how legit this rumour actually is, so bare with me here. The new rumour that is going around says, that The Wasp WON’T feature in Ant-Man, but Janet Van Dyne WILL. The source says, “Janet would be a love interest and a major supporting character, we would see multiple references to her future as The Wasp throughout the film.” As if this wasn’t enough, the source later told me WHO Marvel and Edgar Wright had in their eyes for the role. It seems that Parks & Recreation star Rashida Jones is on top of Marvel’s shortlist for the role of 'Janet Van Dyne'. Rashida Jones is said to be Marvel’s top pick for her “chemistry with the other actors.” The source highlighted Paul Rudd and Parks & Recreation co-star, Chris Pratt. Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones have starred opposite each other in two films, those films being, I Love You Man & Our Idiot Brother.
