If JGL does turn out to be Scott Lang then it will be the continuation of an interesting trend by Marvel to give their smaller characters to big name actors and the larger roles to lesser knowns. Not that Rudd is a small name, but he's not as big as JGL right now obviously.

If they do end up casting Rudd as Pym, JGL as Lang & Rashida Jones as Jan, I'd be extremely happy. I'm also intrigued by how Wright is going to handle the tone of this movie - it'll be fun to see how this one turns out & I hope that they knock it out of the park.

He's said it's going to be an action adventure Mission Impossible style spy thriller with comedy in it. Obviously given the casting and the director there will be a comedy element to it, but they're also casting people with enough range to hit the dramatic moments right as well.

...a movie about a stolen shrinking suit with the hero beating up guys and infiltrating places at 3 inches set in the Marvel universe with Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the main characters...with Edgar Wright directing. This movie is going to be awesome lol. Seriously, anyone who doesn't see the potential in this doesn't know movies. Just a normal comedy with JGL and Paul Rudd in it directed by Edgar Wright would be awesome.

Speaking of which, I just realized that the relationship between Scott Lang and Hank Pym in the movie may be very similar to the one between Superman and Batman in World's Finest film (or whatever their calling it). Will be interesting to see who executes the idea better.

I've been saying since day 1 this movie had huge amounts of potential but there were a fair amount of folk sneering at the idea of this movie at one time. Things seem a lot more optimistic these days.

This movie can't seem to get over the "Hank Pym, Lamest Avenger Ever!" meme, and I say that as someone who likes Pym and Ant-Man. Also... the name is comical in and of itself.

Which is superawesome that Edgar Wright's doing this movie, because if anyone can get Ant-Man right, it's him.

Gods I really hope they cast Rudd and Rashida soon. The suspense is killing me!

Does anyone know which comic the panel on the left is from? I imagine it is Ultimate, considering Thor's design and Ultimate Fury's presence, but I don't recall either the Ultimate Wasps looking like that.

The cover you're talking about is issue 27. I just skimmed through it on the file on my computer but it doesn't have that scene of Wasp and the others in it though.

Whenever I hear talk of the Judd Apatow Crew, he (Rudd) seems to be the one most liked of that group around here.

So it's no surprise that him being rumored for Ant Man has largely been positive.

I think Paul Rudd would be a good choice. I hope he gets the role. Plus, with Wright directing, I think Rudd is even more likely. And if Rashida Jones is cast, it would be cool to see her and Rudd back on the screen together. I Love You, Man was amazing, I thought.

I don't think so. The MCU is already established whereas the DCU was not. With Green Lantern, it was all or nothing with that movie. If it didn't make it, there's no chance of those characters likely appearing again. Even if somehow Ant-Man didn't do as well as expected, they can always turn Janet into the Wasp in an Avengers sequel.
