From 2006:
Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas in one film...just thinking about it makes me feel more excited about it than ever.![]()
I'm pretty mixed on this casting but like you said Douglas and Paul Rudd is a great combo and has good potential. But I feel a tad bit disappointed with the direction they are taking with Pym.
I love Marvel's casting. Outstanding for thinking outside the box. Even if it doesn't completely work (which I doubt) kudos for bringing something different to the superhero cinematic table.

From 2006:
I've read some conflicting reports.
Is it that he's not and never was Ant-Man, is older than Pym from the comics, doesn't look like him from the comics and is a villain????
Others get copious amounts of **** for bringing something different![]()
I'm excited for this take since I've accepted that Marvel is embracing the idea of doing things differently than the comics.
Which others? What do you mean?
Other studios. They do things different than the comics and people react with furious anger and hate.
Let's hope Nova Prime and Hank Pym never cross paths. Blood will be spilt.
That's the thing, for me. Other studios don't do bold things with the superhero genre. Ben Affleck as Batman? Ok, may be surprising giving the current status of him (becoming a very good director) but he was already a superhero, so no big news there.
But Robert Redford joining a spy-thriller superhero? That's different. We are over-saturated with superhero movies, so I think is a very good thing that we are getting outside-the-box casting.
) to use time travel.First Class was bold, they took the character back to the 60's for a story set amongst the Cuban Missile Crisis.
The Wolverine is the only superhero movie to be set almost entirely (90%) abroad with a non-caucasian cast.
Sony is pkanning to bring together a team of villains to battle the hero, kindof a reverse Avengers.
Can't have that. Michael might break his hip.
He might fall, and wont be able to get up.

I would say based on the Marvel Studios track record (Iron Man vs Iron Monger, Hulk vs Abomination, Cap vs Red Skull) where the hero and villain have similar powers, the answer is YES.
