Ok so respect to Lang not only for kicking Doom's ass, but also for calling him on his bull****. It's about time somebody did.

since there's no real new news, i thought i'd do some fantasy speculation. what could we expect from a sequel? Wright is obviously playing it a bit low key, to start. he said that he really only had enough time and space to introduce the pym particles and what they can do. once that's out of the way, where can they go from there? Taskmaster and his crime academy? full out war with A.I.M? full out war with the more corrupt elements of SHIELD. time travel?

And all it took was one of the worst written comics ever, that violates sense and characterization in ways that destroy the mind. :whatever:

oh noes! sense violation! i loved this issue of FF. too bad it's the last one.

Edgar Wright just had a pretty funny tweet to Empire:

@edgarwright: Dear @empiremagazine, how about just one character cover for 'Ant-Man' that's seemingly empty. (Include a free magnifying glass to see him)

Sounds like a tongue-in-cheek shot at Empire's 20+ DOFP covers of every freakin' one of the X-Men in the movie.

maybe it could be 'Where's Waldo-esque' cover with kind of a cluttered scene with ant-man hidden somewhere in it.

He's just joking abut Empires massive DoFP cover onslaught.

Although one of those optical illusions that change depending on the angle you tilt it could be cool for a future Ant-Man cover.

i wish they'd do the Marvel Premiere 47 cover but with Rudd.

and there should be something similar for Douglas' Pym.

the guy has lost a lot of weight. thanks for the link. i kept looking for his poker tell when Rashida Jones was brought up. Amy Poehler talks "Ant-Woman" in one of the following interviews.

Screenrant says that Rashida Jones could be Erica Sondheim instead of Wasp if she is cast.

But maybe it's better to have Erica than to mess up the character of Jan by making her Scott's love interest. Of course, Erica was a much older woman in the comics. She seems more (physically) like she'd be a match for Michael Douglas's old Hank Pym.

I read their article, and it looks like they are just speculating that she might be Erica and not Janet based on the fact that Pym is old in the present day. If Rashida Jones (or any reasonably high profile young-ish actress) is cast, my money's on Wasp.

Eh, I don't buy into the whole "it's better to have *no* version of a comic-book character than to have an *INO* version of a comic-book character" argument.

If the spirit of the character is still there in some obvious form (Mandarin, Hank Pym), and the character is at least recognizable as their comic counterpart, then I'm willing to buy into it, if it's done well. As long as Janet still has her Avenger personality, and has her Avenger powers (i.e., Wasp), and *becomes* a freakin' Avenger, I've got no problem with her age, ethnicity, or love interest(s).

I'd rather see Hank's daughter/Scott's girlfriend Janet than NO Janet.

Erica fell off the face of the Earth, in the books. but she used to be a somewhat important character; Tony Stark's personal life-saver (saved him from Kathy Dare). and she started out looking like an older woman. but the same thing that happened to Pepper Potts happened to Erica; once she became a recurring character in Iron Man. by that, I mean that she became better looking and younger in appearance. she recently appeared in the Michelinie/Layton armor wars follow-up and the Earth's Mightiest cartoon (w/ yet another different appearance).

ideally, I'd be good with Erica being in the movie and (if they need it) a romantic interest for Scott. but I'd also want Jan to be there; w/o any romantic connection to Scott.

or they are thinking of Rashida Jones' role as a nurse on Parks & Rec. :shrugs:

i knew that looked more like Douglas. maybe we are getting the old school costume. it would give the movie a sort of before-the-Watchmen feeling.

Before and after pics... "The Pym Diet really helped me shed those extra pounds!"

That's what I'm kinda hoping for. The watchmen feeling.

But a little different than Watchmen, a few things might have went on back in the 60's during Carter's time that are so strange they led to Pym and some of the early super heroes retiring, and much of Shield and the world forgot about heroes existing in the past, until the Avengers Initiative was launched

Shield forgot that there were once heroes in the world like Pym and Captain America. Shield tried to track Pym down in the early 90's, but Selvig misinterpreted what happened. Shield accidentally chased Pym away, because he was reluctant to be a hero again. Selvig didn't even know Pym had been a superhero, but I think their paths might have crossed like in the line that was cut out of Thor. Selvig had negative views about Shield he projected onto the situation, when Shield really wanted his help. But Pym didn't want back into that world yet...

Basically I'm hoping that the Agent Carter show sometimes features Young Pym, and there's a whole lost period of time after/during the war that Carter, the invaders, and Yellowjacket/Antman inhabit.. before he switched back to the Ant Man costume and kept it with him. He'd have some memories of the older superheroes, and there'd be pictures of him in his Yellowjacket costume. To represent all the different personas of Pym, all the different Ant Men, in one movie...

I think Lang is actually kind of the unwilling villain of the movie, in the beginning. An expert at getting in and out of places. Steals Pym's tech from his house, tech that he never uses anymore, and uses it to conduct a series of heists because the villain of the film has kidnapped Cassie...While in the house he sees pictures of stuff, sees the old Yellowjacket, Antman, and Giant man costumes. In the end Pym gets wrapped up in things and has to help Lang get Cassie back from the villains, while teaching Lang to be a hero.
